I’ll be moving back to Europe soon and have to sell my beautiful 1997 Jaguar XK8 convertible. I hate to see her go, but shipping to Europe does not make sense so this is your chance to own a gorgeous example of this soon-to-be classic in near mint condition and the best color pattern out there. I am a private seller, not a dealer, and have been using the car mainly for my daily 25-mile-commute from San Diego to Del Mar, CA. I rarely used the car for short distances. It’s a 90% Freeway car. It has always been garaged, never parked in the streets, and is a California car from day one on.

The car has never been in an accident. Title is clear and registration is valid thru November 2014. It is equipped with everything you could get at that time; power seats, top, everything. It has a 6-CD-changer in the trunk. AC is ice cold and has been recharged.

Mechanics:

The car is mechanically sound. Engine and trans are perfect. There is no rattle, no weird sounds. The engine idles and runs smoothly, has a beautiful and healthy sound, the transmission shifts like on day one; breaks work perfectly. I have never noticed any sign of overheating and oil pressure is perfect as well. The steering is still very precise and the car is very stable; nothing appears worn out. You would never think that you sit in a car with a mileage of 120k; it drives more like 60k. Everything on the car works. The top is working flawlessly and is absolutely watertight. You are welcome to check it in a car wash!

The previous owner (a gentleman in his 60s) and I took great care of the car, it’s been pampered, never abused, and meticulously maintained. All the expensive upgrades/maintenance work that need to be done on the first generation XK8’s have been taken care of. The previous owner and I spent over $12,000 within the last 20,000mls/last couple of years to keep it in this excellent shape it is in. It needs nothing at the moment. I have all the receipts for everything to show. Some of the things that have been done:

-          Metal timing chain tensioner upgrade – this is a must for every pre-2003 model with the older 4 liter engine and is an expensive upgrade. Google it if you’re not familiar with it or what will happen if you don’t change/upgrade it.

-          Both sides front wheel hub bearings

-          Both sides lower control arm

-          Damper front (both)

-          Radiator and hoses

-          Power steering cooler, supply hose, and high pressure hose

-          Cam covers & spark plugs

-          New battery

Condition/cosmetics:

The car looks absolutely beautiful inside and outside. I gave her new paint in 2013 because the clear coat was coming off on the hood. At that point, I thought I would stay longer in CA and since I wanted the car to be perfect I had the entire car get painted. It was a professional paint job in the original color that looks great. You have a 3-year guarantee on the paint. When you see the car, it literally looks like an almost new car. There are no scratches and the paint shines like only new paint can shine on a 17-year old car. There is absolutely no rust on the car. The interior is still very nice, only the driver seat shows some wear due to age, but nothing that couldn’t be detailed if you want everything to be perfect; no cracks in the dash board (garaged entire life). See photos of the car and video:

The car comes with a boot cover that matches the interior color. It is just not shown in the pics.

If you like to see it, I’m happy to show you the car. It is located in Mission Beach in San Diego, CA. Please do not contact me if you intend to offer me $5k. Don’t waste my time and I won’t waste yours. I know there are XK8s out there you can get for less than I am asking, but believe me you don’t want these cars since you’ll have to spend a ton of money to get them where my Jaguar or similar offers already are. It’s not a Toyota and getting them fixed is expensive. The best investment you can make in the long run is to buy the better car that is just a little more expensive when you purchase it. I’ve seen a lot of cars before I finally picked this one.

Please note that I’ll be leaving the country on May 28 and the car needs to be picked on the weekend May 24/25. Email me with any questions you may have.

GM, Audi, Jaguar halt Russian sales amidst ruble's collapse

Fri, Dec 19 2014

The value of Russia's ruble currency has sunk like a stone tossed in the Volga for much of the year, losing over 40 percent of its worth since June. The change is having bizarre effects on the auto industry there and leaving some automakers scrambling to adjust. According to Bloomberg, Russians are buying up luxury goods including automobiles at the moment to have a physical investment in case the ruble sinks further. However, with the money worth so little, the companies aren't making much from these transactions. Things are so dire that several automakers are temporarily ending deliveries until the situation stabilizes. According to Bloomberg, General Motors stopped sales on December 16 with no set date to start again. Audi did the same thing but with the intention to resume once it has adjusted model pricing. Jaguar Land Rover terminated business until December 19 to see how things changed. Toyota is increasing its pricing, as well, but keeping business open at the same time. Some automakers have subtly been reacting to the slumping Russian auto market all year. The moves have included Volkswagen cutting production by 30,000 units from its factory in Kaluga. Ford also got rid of 950 workers from two plants due to low demand. Some analysts have even speculated that the contracting industry and possibility of lower import duties into the country could cause companies to end their manufacturing in Russia completely.

Jaguar C-X17 Concept teased before Frankfurt

Sun, 01 Sep 2013

Just ahead of the Frankfurt Motor Show, which begins September 10, Jaguar is teasing the reveal of a design study to introduce its new advanced vehicle architecture. Dubbed the C-X17, the mysterious concept "illustrates the diversity of vehicles that could be produced using this architecture, which underpins the innovative future of the Jaguar brand."
While it's not entirely clear what this architecture involves or what type of vehicle the C-X17 may be, this reveal is reminiscent of Jaguar's decision to unveil the C-X16 concept, a hybrid electric sports car, in Frankfurt in 2011. From the looks of the teaser image Jaguar released (click above to enlarge), we're guessing the C-X17 will be something between a low-slung crossover and a sporty wagon. But we won't have to wait too long to find out - Jaguar is streaming the live pre-show reveal to invited guests on its Facebook page on Monday, Sept. 9.
In addition to the C-X17, Jaguar be showing off the performance-oriented XJR and XFR-S, and, of course, the F-Type convertible. Scroll down for the official press release.

2018 Jaguar E-Pace Video Review | Jag's smallest SUV is a high-priced hit

Wed, Oct 3 2018

The following is the transcript from our above 2018 Jaguar E-Pace video review. To read more about this compact luxury SUV, read our E-Pace first drive review. There's nothing like some Sunday morning driving. And today I am driving the 2018 Jaguar E-Pace, which is Jaguar's latest gasoline-fueled crossover offering, not to be confused with the I-Pace, which is their electric vehicle. This particular model is powered by a 246-horsepower turbocharged, 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine that makes 269 pound-feet of torque. It's mated to a nine-speed ZF automatic transmission, and my biggest gripe about the engine is that it can be a bit laggy, especially driving around in the mountains, particularly in Comfort mode. I would also appreciate paddle shifters on all of the models, not just the R-Dynamic, the lack of which on a $54,000, so-called sporty crossover is pretty disappointing. My disappointment doesn't linger very long, however, as the nicely weighted steering in this cub makes driving on these mountain roads pretty enjoyable. All-wheel drive does come standard on all varieties, and each feature four drive modes: Comfort, Dynamic, Eco, and then Rain/Ice/Snow. Let's talk about looks. Jaguar chief designer Ian Callum knows how to design an SUV. The F-Pace is my favorite looking vehicle in the segment and the style translates nicely to the smaller E-Pace. While it's not as good looking as its big brother, in my opinion, it definitely takes the crown over the Range Rover Evoque and the Discovery Sport, both of which share its platform. In fact, the E-Pace would rather easily be the best-looking vehicle in its class, if not for the newly-released Volvo XC40. This Cesium Blue paint is one of my favorite colors on the market, well worth the $590 price tag, in my opinion. I'm not a huge fan of chrome in general, and while this car is no exception, you can opt for the Blackout Pack, which replaces all the chrome on the car with gloss black paint. My biggest gripes with the F-Pace? Interior, infotainment and price. Those issues remain in its smaller sibling. When it comes to interiors, the Germans and the Swedes do a much better job, and when it comes to price, there are much better interiors out there. Most of the materials inside that you touch do feel pretty nice, but there are still a few cheap-feeling plastics around the cabin. And until there's a significant update to the infotainment system, JLR is always going to be behind the competition.
