1990 Jaguar Xjs V12 Convertible on 2040-cars
Bedford, New York, United States
Greetings! I have decided to sell my 1990 Jaguar XJS Convertible. You may say to yourself, oh! another XJS for sale. Well! I follow the XJS market very closely. There once was a time you could have any E type you wanted for these prices also. This is a
wonderful car and will serve its new owner for years to come. This is
the fourth XJS that I have owned, and definitely the finest one! 1990
was the final full year of production of this model with the beautiful
round English headlights, shortened tail lights, and of course the final
refinement of the 5.3 V12 engine. 1990 was the first year to introduce a
driver's airbag and tilting steering column. The car is finished in Old
English White with tan Connolly hides. The interior is totally original
and in spectacular condition. The seats show beautiful natural patina for
a car of its age, but still look fresh and new. The wilton carpeting
and beautiful German tan canvas top show perfectly. The car has fewer
than 84,000 miles and two previous owners. This is an unaltered car. It
enjoys its original interior, carpeting, glass, radio, etc. The door panels have never been cut so as to instal larger speakers. I have seen them with boom boxes on the rear sill! The body has
never completely been re-sprayed. The car enjoys its original paint in
areas which include the hood, door jams, engine compartment, and trunk
areas. Again this is just a great looking car with the proper amount of wear and use. Of course, the car has never had an accident, nor has it ever
been rusted.
Thankfully, the car enjoys its original lattice style 15 inch wheels with matching brand-new tires, including the spare. The car has never been bastardized by the installation of body side moldings, CB or cell antennas, and most importantly, the car was never fitted with those god awful fender flare trim moldings. The windows have never been tinted. This is just a wonderful car to watch appreciate, and enjoy as time passes. Feel free to contact me at (914) 403-1768. The car is located in the scenic hamlet of Bedford Village, NY, just west of Stamford CT. For you New Yorkers, you might be comforted by the fact that Bedford lies only 42 miles north of Times Square. Tools, owners manual, boot, boot bag, tire cover, etc., all included. In closing, I am a seasoned collector of only fine cars. I began my hobby in 1978 when as a 24 year old man, I had the good fortune to study with one of the greats, Ed Jurist, owner of the Vintage Car Store in Nyack NY. Mr. Jurist taught me life lessons. Only start with good examples, and with marques and models which inspire emotion to its owner. ( actually we are really stewards of these properties. one day they will be in other hands) This is why all these years later I follow his advice. Keep it original and as unrestored as possible. If you have transportation needs, feel free to contact my dear friend, Dave Lambert of Transport Masters in Boca Raton FL. He will gladly give you a free estimate for professional and courteous service. 561 504 7030. Lastly, I have used eBay for over ten years. My approval rating is 100%. I take this privilege quite seriously. Call me first. Come and see the car or send a representative to check it out. Thank you, John Louis. (914 403 1768) |

Nearly 200 units of the Jaguar I-Pace recalled again due to fire risk
Mon, Oct 30 2023Jaguar has issued a safety recall that applies to nearly 200 units of the electric I-Pace. The crossovers included in the campaign can catch fire due to a battery-related problem, and they should have already been fixed but ended up not receiving the required software update. Assigned recall number 23V-709 by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the recall includes 199 examples of the 2019 to 2023 I-Pace built between February 15, 2018, and February 7, 2023. These vehicles were also part of recall number 23V-369 issued in March 2023. Jaguar has since received one new report of a car in the United States catching fire; the incident happened on September 8, 2023. When it issued the original recall, it cited eight reports of an I-Pace catching fire on our shores between June 2019 and May 2023. Jaguar explains the recalled cars are at risk of a "thermal overload," which can manifest itself as "smoke or fire" that "may occur underneath the vehicle, where the high-voltage traction battery is located." The company hasn't detailed the root of the problem, but it previously noted that the updated software monitors the battery pack's status, detects when it's at risk of a thermal overload, and warns the driver accordingly. It also limits the battery's charging capacity to 75% if it identifies a problem and instructs the driver to visit a dealer as soon as possible. The issue is that some dealers "used a non-approved service diagnostic tool" that didn't upload the updated software to the car, hence why the 199 vehicles included in campaign 23V-709 are being recalled a second time. Jaguar's fix remains the same: It's asking owners to take their I-Pace to the nearest authorized dealership so that a technician can update the Battery Energy Control Module (BECM) software. Owners who have already paid to get the problem fixed will be able to claim a refund from the British brand. And, they're being asked to park their car away from structures, such as a garage or a house, and charge outside for 30 days after the software update has been completed. Jaguar will begin notifying owners of affected cars by mail on December 15, 2023.
Lightweight E-Type to show historic side of Jaguar Special Operations in Monterey
Mon, 11 Aug 2014Jaguar has made a lot of great vehicles over the years, but as far as historians are concerned, it still very much lives in the shadow of the original E-Type, small as it was. In its image, Jaguar has made two generations of XK and the new F-Type, but what we have here is the most faithful continuation of the E-Type heritage yet.
Alongside the Range Rover Sport SVR and the F-Type Project 7 (making its US debut), Jaguar Land Rover and its new Special Operations division will roll into Pebble Beach this year with the continuation Lightweight E-Type. Of the 72,500 E-Types which Jaguar built between 1961 and 1975, only a dozen were Lightweight versions, and they remain the most coveted E-Types of all. It originally planned on building 18 examples, though, and five decades later, it's now committed to completing that original production run in faithful detail.
The Lightweight E-Type was based on the standard roadster and was homologated as such, just with some key upgrades to make it lighter and faster. The biggest change, of course, was the lightweight aluminum bodywork that cut 205 pounds off the curb weight. To replicate it, Jaguar took the last example (the only one made in 1964 after the original eleven were made in '63), scanned half its body surface, mirrored it to ensure symmetry and set about reproducing it with the same standard of materials available in the Sixties (and resisting the urge to go with more modern grades of aluminum). 75 percent of the 230 components are made in-house, with the largest stampings outsourced and built on machinery built to Jaguar's specifications off-site.
Jaguar Land Rover offers (some) detail about new Ingenium engine
Thu, 10 Jul 2014Jaguar Land Rover officially announced its Ingenium family of engines with the unveiling of the 2.0-liter version in the Jaguar XE concept at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, but it kept details very thin at the time. All we knew was that the new turbocharged mills could be configured to use gasoline or diesel, and be positioned longitudinally or transversely. Months later, JLR is finally letting some more info slip about its new baby, but there are still some big questions to be answered.
For the Ingenium project, Jaguar Land Rover gave its engineers a clean sheet of paper and told them not to worry about using any previous parts or machinery. In the end, the designers came up with a family of turbocharged, aluminum-block engines based around modular, 500cc cylinders to allow it to grow or shrink as the market demanded. The layout was also made adaptable enough to incorporate hybrid drivetrains, if needed. "Being configurable and flexible are the two key strands of Ingenium's DNA because we have future-proofed our new engines from the outset," said said Ron Lee, the company's director of Powertrain Engineering.
To maximize efficiency, Jaguar promises that all versions of the Ingenium engines come with computer-controlled, variable oil pumps and water pumps to use only as much energy as needed. They also get direct injection, roller bearings for the cams and stop/start. The diesel version alone has 17 percent less internal friction than the mill it replaces, the company claims. JLR is also promising class-leading figures for Ingenium's torque and horsepower too, but it's not giving away those specs just yet.
