You are bidding on a 1990 Jaguar Vanden Plas XJ 4 door sedan. There is a reserve price. Local pick up preferred and I will ship to the United States only. You must make the arrangements. The winning bidder has 48 hrs to make a $200 deposit into my PayPal acct. and up to 7 days to complete the transaction. (Balance paid in full and title transferred. Possibility of transferring the classic plate to the buyer for a standard fee.) Here's a brief history about the car: My wife and I purchased the car 2 years ago with the intention of fixing it up as a "touring" vehicle for car shows, etc. So for the last 2 years it was mostly stored in our garage while I worked on it in my spare time. We did road test it a few times but only put about 30 miles on it. It has 166K miles on it but as you can see from the pics it still looks great! The major "P.I.T.A." job that I did was to replace the headliner! It turned out nice and matches the original. The rest of the interior is in fine condition showing normal wear. I purchased door weather seals but did not change them. I went over the entire car and found no serious wear or problems with the engine, transmission, brakes, exhaust, suspension and steering components except for the steering pump. The pump does not work after I dis-assembled it to replace the seal and gaskets. What I believe happened is I probably installed the pump impeller backwards, because the P/S worked prior to my work. I also replaced most of the power steering hoses, A/C hoses, A/C receiver/dryer, battery and serviced the transmission. That being said, this Jaguar needs someone to take over where I left off. It does run great, has lots of power and I have driven it recently the way it is, but it steers VERY hard. I suppose you could drive it home at your own risk but I would recommend towing it or moving it by trailer. The PA state inspection sticker is not current. It does have a "PA Classic Plate" which can be transferred to a PA buyer if needed. This car is being sold "AS IS, WHERE IS" and I will not warranty or guarantee anything except that you can start it up and drive it. Please refer to the condition description for additional info. Ferrari exec to lead Jaguar North America
Tue, 06 Aug 2013Jaguar has announced that Jeff Curry will be serving as the brand's new North American vice president, effective August 13. The move is a coup for Jag, which lured Curry away from his previous posting as VP of marketing for Ferrari North America, and is further evidence of just how strong Jaguar's comeback has gotten.
Curry has spent over 20 years in the auto industry, and has worked with Audi, SiriusXM and Land Rover, where he made his start in the industry. His primary responsibilities with Jaguar will cover marketing communications, customer relationship management, and product planning.
Jaguar Land Rover's North American president, Andy Goss, heaped praise on the brand's newest addition saying, "Jeff brings with him extensive automotive and luxury marketing experience, critical expertise in leading-edge technologies and a personal passion for automobiles."
Jaguar sends off XK with limited-run Final 50 edition
Fri, 18 Apr 2014The Jaguar XK coupe and convertible are pointed at the production sunset, and the cars that will end their retail lives in the US will be the dubbed the XK Final Fifty Limited Edition. As the name implies there will be fifty of them made, 25 of the fixed-roof variety, 25 of the droptop.
As the name doesn't imply, however, they'll be based on the XKR and be injected with liberal doses of XKR-S and XKR-S GT: the 510-horsepower V8 from the XKR will be mated to normally optional items like the Dynamic and Performance Packs, machined front suspension components from the XKR-S and a 10-millimeter lower ride height, the louvered hood from the XKR-S GT and Vortex 20-inch forged wheels. The sheetmetal gets a bath in Ultimate Black paint "with special trim" and badged door sill plates. Convertibles will come black roofs, but the Performance Active Exhaust will keep you apprised of the 5.0-liter V8 bellows no matter which car you choose.
They'll go into production this summer and hit dealerships in the fall. There's a lengthy press release below with more info on how this cat will sing its swan song.
Stolen Jaguar E-Type reunited with owner after 46 years
Mon, 22 Sep 2014Barely six months into owning it, Ivan Schneider had his Jaguar E-Type stolen from outside of his Manhattan apartment in 1968. Now, 46 years later, the somewhat beat-up convertible has been recovered just before it was about to be shipped to a new owner in The Netherlands.
US Customs agents at the Port of Los Angeles found the car during a routine check, and they contacted Schneider to arrange returning it to him. When the feds found it, the E-Type was already in a shipping container ready to go to its new owner. The condition is hardly perfect today, including rough paint and a replacement door, but Schneider is ecstatic to get his classic back.
Understandably, the now 82-year-old never thought he would see his droptop Jaguar again. Schneider told the LA Times that he bought the E-Type for $5,000 after winning a case as a lawyer, and it was originally painted gray. Now, he plans to have to have the vintage convertible restored to its former glory in New York.
