1970 Jaguar Xj, New Paint, No Rust, Chevy 350/400 on 2040-cars
Woodland Hills, California, United States
1970 Jaguar XJ has been fully gone through and can be driven
anywhere! This is a classy car with all the amenities and comfort of a newer
car and turns heads everywhere it goes. The car drives straight, rides smooth
and begs to be driven on the highway. Body: Body is in very nice shape and rust free. It has been
repainted in the original signal red color code. All the panels line up and gaps are even. The
rear windshield seal has been replaced and the new front windshield seal is included with
the sale of the car (not installed). It doesn’t leak but should be replaced in
the near future. All the chrome and trim is in very nice condition. Brakes: All of the brakes have been rebuilt and/or replaced.
Extensive amount of work has gone into this car. The power brake booster was
rebuilt, a new master cylinder was installed as well as all four brake calipers
were rebuilt within the last year. New rotors and pads all the way around as
well as new front and rear brake hoses. Drivetrain: The car sports a healthy Chevy 350 cu in. mated
to a Turbo 400 automatic transmission. New Holley 390cfm carburetor. Very
reliable, easy to maintain and plenty of power. The speedometer cable is not
hooked up but I believe there are adapter kits to go from the Jaguar speedo to
the Chevy transmission. The drive shaft and half shafts all have new u-joints. This car sounds great and turns heads! Suspension: The suspension is solid and doesn’t squeak or
make any unusual noises. Several bushings have been replaced recently. Interior: The interior is presentable but could use some
attention. I had started to reupholster the upper headliner surround pieces in
black and they look really nice but never got around to the rest of the
interior. The driver seat is still very comfortable but the bottom straps for
the passenger seat are worn and it sags in the middle. All of the power windows
operate. All of the dash instrumentation panel lights work. Things to note: Since we bought this car the fuel tank on
the left side (driver) had not been in use for an unknown amount of time. The
car only uses the fuel tank on the right side. Condition of heater and AC are
unknown. I have never fiddled with the heater to see if it works. The car seems
to have a complete AC as well but I don’t think it works. The car has a CD player and nice speakers all the way around but I believe the fuse in the CD head unit is blown. If you have any questions, please feel free to message me and I will get back to you as soon as possible. |

Eagle Spyder GT is the roadster Jaguar E-Type of your dreams
Wed, Feb 17 2016Eagle, a British company that has specialized in restomodding classic Jags for over thirty years, has rolled out a new version of their modified E-Type called the Eagle Spyder GT. If you've heard of Eagle already, it's probably for its gorgeous Speedster. The company subsequently followed up with the fixed-roof Low Drag GT, inspired by the competition model Jaguar developed back in 1961 (and recently continued). The Spyder GT splits the difference, with a chopped and raked windscreen and a folding fabric roof mechanism. Like its stablemates, the Eagle Spyder GT wears bodywork painstakingly crafted entirely out of aluminum, with exquisite detailing. No wonder that, in reviewing it on Top Gear, Jeremy Clarkson said, "I think this, by a long way, is the most beautiful car I have ever seen. It might actually be the most beautiful thing I have ever seen." That's high praise indeed from a guy who's not known to shy away from speaking his mind. Unfortunately most of us will never find out, as Eagle only produces these special editions in very limited quantities and at very high cost. Each is custom-made to the owner's specifications, with the first example of the new Spyder GT to be delivered this summer. Eagle has focused for over thirty years to refine, develop and deliver exceptional engineering for the Jaguar E-Type while remaining true to the spirit of this extraordinary car. The Eagle E-Type has often been described as 'the finest hand-built car in the world' and the reaction of the world's press to the successive 'special edition' Jaguar E-Types developed in-house at Eagle has been rapturous. Leading the way was the Eagle Speedster, which was developed from a client request and then feted around the world.
Jaguar XE promises to net 'over 75 mpg,' just not for us [w/video]
Tue, 29 Jul 2014With around a month away from its world debut on September 8, Jaguar continues to issue a constant drip of updates about its upcoming XE compact luxury sedan that's aiming to take on the BMW 3 Series and Audi A4. Where the company's last bit of info focused on the car's suspension setup, this time Jag's putting the spotlight on the new model's modular platform and making some big promises about it, too. How big? Try over 75 miles per gallon big.
That's the headline figure that Jaguar is claiming for its new sedan, but it's keeping mum on just what powertrain will realize that figure. Furthermore, that result is on the European test cycle, which is more lenient than America's EPA testing regime. In any case, when the XE hits the road, Jag says it will be the most efficient vehicle from the company, ever.
That's thanks in no small part to the aluminum-intensive monocoque chassis underpinning the sedan. It's constructed from a new grade of the lightweight metal called RC 5754 that uses a high portion of recycled material. "The Jaguar XE body uses over 75-percent aluminum content, which far exceeds any other car in its class. This gives us a body structure with unrivaled low weight: it's light but also immensely strong with extremely high levels of torsional stiffness," said Dr. Mark White, Jaguar Chief Technical Specialist; Body Complete.
Jaguar practiced the E-Pace barrel roll - wait, how do you practice a barrel roll?
Tue, Jul 25 2017Jaguar launched the E-Pace compact crossover by literally launching it into a barrel roll. But to get to the point where the company could do the stunt in front of the press naturally took plenty of preparation and planning, and the company documented much of it in the video above. It turns out that the early stages of preparing the stunt are about as entertaining as the stunt itself. The video spends a little time showing some of the computer modeling and designing of the stunt, but most of the video covers the practice runs done with a test car. Jaguar set up its prototype offset ramp for initiating the roll, and had a massive airbag set up for the test car to land in. And early on, to make sure the stunt driver wasn't hurt, they rigged up a Land Rover Evoque with autonomous driving equipment to do the first runs. Later the stunt driver took a few turns. The testing resulted in flips and tumbles you've only seen with Hot Wheels cars. It's so strange and fun to see a full-size car launched this way. Once the team finally had the jump pretty well dialed in, the stunt driver was able to test it launching from ramp to ramp, and then eventually do it in the production E-Pace at the crossover's reveal.
