Jaguar launches new classic racing series
Fri, 14 Nov 2014One-make racing series have become all the rage for customers who want to actually race their exotic sports cars (or competition-spec versions of them, anyway). Ferrari, Maserati, Lamborghini and Aston Martin all offer such programs, and Porsche supports several. Now Jaguar is getting in on the action as well, but instead of turning one of its production models - we're looking at you, F-Type - into a spec racer, it's launching an historic racing series instead.
The 2015 Jaguar Heritage Challenge will be open to cars made by the Leaping Cat marque before 1966, including the C-Type, D-Type, E-Type and Mk I and MkII sedans. The series, which builds on the success of the previous Jaguar E-Type Challenge, will be administered by the Historic Sports Car Club (HSCC) based at Silverstone and will include four races in the UK and one in Europe, with the exact schedule still to be determined.
The program was announced at the launch of the Jaguar Heritage Driving Experience, where Jaguar Land Rover Special Operations director John Edwards was also named chairman of the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust, replacing former Jaguar managing director Mike O'Driscoll who chaired the organization for the past five years.
Electric Jaguar I-Pace wins Car of the Year in Europe
Mon, Mar 4 2019GENEVA — The electric Jaguar I-Pace has won the Car of the Year award in Europe, the first time the storied brand has been bestowed the prize. The four-wheel drive vehicle edged out the Alpine A110, which is not a mass production car, after they tied for top honors in the first round of voting by dozens of automotive journalists. It is the first such award for Jaguar, a British brand now owned by India's Tata Motors, which touted the new platform used for the I-Pace. Monday's presentation of the award, which was established in 1964, marks the unofficial start of the 89th edition of the Geneva auto show. The five other finalists were the Citroen C5 Aircross, Ford Focus, Kia Ceed, Mercedes-Benz A-class and Peugeot 508 . The finalists were winnowed down from an initial list of 60 models, and road tests began in October. Final tests were two weeks ago at a test center outside Paris. A potential sales generator, the award is organized by seven European magazines and awarded by 60 journalists from nearly two dozen countries. Last year's winner was the Volvo XC40 compact SUV.Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings.

Originally revealed back in 2016 as a concept, the EV has been heavily influenced by the C-X75 supercar concept. The I-Pace is Jaguar’s first all-electric vehicle and will include a 90 kWh battery with a range of 240 miles. Jaguar says it can recharge to 80% in just 40 minutes on a 100-kW DC fast charger. The all-wheel-drive SUV has an output of 349 hp and 512 lb-ft of torque with the help of twin Jaguar-designed concentric motors. A Touch Pro Duo infotainment system comes standard and includes a 10-inch upper and a 5.5-inch lower touchscreen. The I-Pace software will also benefit from over-the-air updates. Pricing will be announced March 6th with U.S. customers receiving the I-Pace in the second half of 2018. Jaguar revealed their anticipated I-Pace EV in Austria, ahead of its public debut in Geneva.
