I bought this beautiful car here on Ebay in October last year.  I live in an area where they salt the roads during the winter, so I did not drive it all winter.  This spring, I've put less than 1000 miles on the car.  So everything I know about the car is based on what I was told when I bought it, or what I've discovered about it in this short time.

The car has 125,xxx miles on it, but cosmetically you wouldn't know it.  There are no wrecks on the carfax.

Exterior:
The bad first: there is a split in the front air-dam, passenger side.  This hides nicely, but there'll be no surprises.  Otherwise, the paint is very-good, with only a minor chip or scratch here and there.  Not what one would expect of a car with over 100k miles.  A previous owner had the factory staggered-fitment wheels chromed.  They look good from 50', but as you get closer, the chrome is peeling.  The tires are brand-new Continental Extreme Contact DWS.  All glass is good, all lights work. The rear spoiler has been wrapped in a 3M DiNoc wrap.

Interior:
The interior is likewise very, very nice. Even the Driver's bolster, where leather seats tend to show age, is pristine.  NO BLEMISHES, cracks, stains, un-stitched seams or anything of the sort.  The leather is as nice as I've ever seen.  The carpets are in good condition as well, with no bare-spots or worn areas.  There is a professionally-installed, integrated entertainment system in the car, with a DVD player in the glove-box, and screens / Game Consoles in the headrests.  Also included with the entertainment system is a 120v power receptacle in the rear console.  The headliner is in very good condition.  This has NOT been a smoker's car.

Mechanically:

We'll get to the motor below.
The Transmission appears to have been professionally serviced, as the pan and hardware is newer.  (Any who are familiar with these transmissions will know that the filter is part of the pan, such that you cannot replace the filter without replacing the pan).  The trans was very crisp, with none of the issues that are frequently associated with these transmissions: no lurch, no squonk.  Shifts perfectly.  The CATS Suspension also seems to have been serviced (replaced?) recently, as the shocks are a bright color, and the CATS system works BEAUTIFULLY.  Brakes are great.  I've had no reason to look into them.  Basically: EVERYTHING ON THIS CAR WORKS PERFECTLY.  (except the motor)

The Motor:
The motor was running very strongly, but had a minor "vibration" that I was trying to decide if it was motor or mount.  One day it became a "rattle', and then immediately a "thunk-thunk".  I have not had the motor apart, but the hole in the block and the rod-bolt in the belly-pan tell the story: You'll need a new motor.  All of the ancillary equipment is good: Supercharger, Compressor, Alternator, Etc Etc Etc.  I have sourced (but not yet purchased) a used, complete long-block.  Mileage and condition is unknown. If you'd like me to help you with that, I can include it for $600 over the winning auction price.

The car is located in Salt Lake City.  I am happy to work with your shipper.  The title is clear.  Please buy this from me, so I don't need to part it out.  (If I'm going to spend the time parting-it, I might as well spend the time repairing it.  But I don;t have the time to do either.)

Jaguar Land Rover tech tracks brainwaves, heart, lungs

Wed, Jun 17 2015

Jaguar Land Rover has been on a bit of a tech kick lately, and its latest is called Mind Sense, which uses biometric sensors to monitor and enhance the driver's level of alertness. Jaguar is installing brainwave sensors adapted from NASA into the steering wheel of an XJ sedan, along with medical-grade heart and respiratory sensors in the seat. Together, the sensors would determine if the driver is focused on the road, dozing off, merely thinking about something else, or if the driver's stress level suddenly peaks. The system would enable the vehicle to better prepare for an emergency, or for a future autonomous vehicle to hand off control to a better-prepared driver where needed. At the same time, JLR is also working on an enhanced infotainment system designed to reduce the amount of time the driver's hands are off the wheel and their eyes are off the road. The system determines which control they're reaching for on the display and engages it while their finger is still in mid-air, deploying an ultrasonic pulse to provide artificial haptic feedback without actually having to touch anything. Finally, a new haptic accelerator pedal is under development that could alert the driver to respond to an impending situation without overloading the senses with chimes and beeps. These latest developments follow the demonstration of a remote-control system installed on a Range Rover Sport, and follow in a long line of new technologies under development by the British automaker. JAGUAR LAND ROVER ROAD SAFETY RESEARCH INCLUDES BRAIN WAVE MONITORING TO IMPROVE DRIVER CONCENTRATION AND REDUCE ACCIDENTS - Jaguar Land Rover's pioneering Mind Sense project is researching measuring brainwaves to monitor driver concentration in the car - Researchers are developing a Wellness Seat in a Jaguar XJ which analyses the driver's heart rate and breathing to monitor driver health and stress - Touchscreens that predict which button you want to press as the user's fingers are in mid-air - to minimise time spent with eyes off the road - Jaguar Land Rover researchers use new haptic accelerator pedal to communicate hazards to the driver Whitley, UK: Jaguar Land Rover has revealed a range of new road safety technology research projects that are being developed to reduce the number of accidents caused by drivers who are stressed, distracted and not concentrating on the road ahead.

Jaguar recalls 7k F-Types for two seperate issues with electrical system

Tue, Dec 9 2014

Jaguar is the latest automaker to join in on the recall action from this morning, as the British automaker has announced steps it's taking to remedy two separate problems. The larger of the two recalls deals with an issue related to the seatbelt sensors specifically on the F-Type (we're inquiring with Jaguar if the recall pertains to the coupe, convertible or both models). According to the notice issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, "the seatbelt harness connector which connects the Seatbelt Tension Sensor (STS) to the Occupant Classification Sensor Control Module (OCSCM) may not have been correctly wired," which could result in the front passenger air bag remaining activated even when a shorter individual (child or adult) occupies that seat. As a result, the British automaker is notifying the owners of such F-Types manufactured between August 31, 2012, and October 22, 2014, to bring their cars in to their local dealership to correct the configuration of the harness connector wire. The second Jaguar recall addresses a wider range of models but a much smaller number of actual vehicles. It affects the F-Type as well as the 2015 XF and XJ sedans, but only 272 of them in the United States. In those affected vehicles, the Front End Accessory Drive belt, Power Assisted Steering pump pulley and the battery positive cable at the alternator may detach. Since those issues could increase the risk of fire or the loss of power steering, Jaguar is calling those few affected units in to dealers to have the requisite components checked, and if necessary, repaired. Details of both recalls can be found in the notices below. Report Receipt Date: NOV 07, 2014 NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V714000 Component(s): ELECTRICAL SYSTEM Potential Number of Units Affected: 7,079 Manufacturer: Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC SUMMARY: Jaguar Land Rover North America LLC (Jaguar) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 F-TYPE vehicles manufactured August 31, 2012, to October 22, 2014. In the affected vehicles the seatbelt harness connector which connects the Seatbelt Tension Sensor (STS) to the Occupant Classification Sensor Control Module (OCSCM) may not have been correctly wired. The OCSCM senses whether there is an occupant in the front passenger seating position, and the STS senses whether tension on the seatbelt indicates a child restraint is being used in the front passenger seating position.

2020 Jaguar XE updated inside and out, diesel engine dropped

Wed, Feb 27 2019

For the 2020 Jaguar XE sports sedan, less is more, at least in terms of powertrain offerings and trim levels. But the new, slimmer lineup adopts additional tech features, and the model also sees design tweaks inside and out. The diesel engine and the 3.0-liter V6 have been axed. The 247-horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged Ingenium inline-four is the base engine. It's mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and can be had with rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. This base engine's new model designation is P250, versus 25t previously. The step-up engine is the 296-hp version of the Ingenium 2.0-liter. Cars so equipped wear a new P300 badge, in place of the previous 30t. All-wheel drive is now standard with the 296-hp engine, and Jaguar claims a zero-to-60-mph time of 5.4 seconds for this powertrain. The exterior design tweaks include new bumpers front and rear, a reshaped rear valence, as well as new LED headlights and taillights. A wider grille with lattice mesh is supposed to draw the XE closer visually to the I-Pace EV. The previous thicket of trim levels — Premium, Prestige, R-Sport, S, Portfolio, and Landmark — have been pruned to just two: S and R-Dynamic S. Newly available is Jaguar Land Rover's InControl Touch Pro Duo infotainment system, which uses a second screen for climate control, flanked by two large knobs that can operate different functions (temperature, fan speed, and seat heating/cooling). The new rearview camera mirror eliminates blind spots, and wireless device charging has been added to the center console. Jaguar also has ditched the rotary shifter in favor of pistol-type shifter found in the F-Type and elsewhere, while surrounding it with a variety of controls, including a flipper switch to toggle among the car's different drive modes. A beefier steering wheel includes capacitive-touch switches. Newly designed seats, with standard leather, are claimed to be more comfortable, while redesigned door panels incorporate wider, softer armrests as well as increased storage capability. Base pricing climbs from $37,990 for the old rear-wheel-drive 20t to $40,895 (including destination) for the new P250. The AWD P250 is $42,894, while the P300 is $47,290. The 2020 Jaguar XE is on sale now. Related Video:
