FOR SALE IS A 1971 JAGUAR XKE V12 2+2 COUPE WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION AND AIR CONDITIONING. IT HAS THE ORIGINAL MATCHING NUMBER MOTOR AND CHASIS. THE SECOND OWNER HAD THE CAR FOR OVER 35 YEARS, IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN GARAGED KEPT IN MARIN COUNTY AND SAN FRANCISCO AND IS VIRTUALLY RUST FREE. THE BODY AND INTERIOR ARE IN VERY GOOD CONDITION FOR IT'S AGE AND THE PAINT WOULD CLEAN UP VERY NICELY WITH A BUFF AND WAX BUT WOULD NEED TO BE REPAINTED TO BE IN SHOW CONDITION. I RECENTLY PURCHASED THE CAR FROM THE SECOND OWNER AFTER NOT BEING STARTED THE LAST 12 YEARS. IT WAS RUNNING AND DRIVING WHEN PARKED. I WAS QUITE OPTIMISTIC THAT I WOULD BE ABLE TO GET IT RUNNING QUICKLY BUT THE MOTOR APPEARS TO BE SEIZED SO I HAVE DECIDED TO PASS IT ON TO SOMEONE THAT REALLY WANTS TO RESTORE IT. THE PICTURES TAKEN ON THE STREET IN SAN FRANCISCO WERE TAKEN THE DAY I PICKED IT UP. THE FUEL PUMP HAS ALSO STOPPED WORKING BUT THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SEEMS TO BE WORKING FINE. THE BRAKE SYSTEM IS WORKING FINE AND THE ORIGINAL WIRE WHEELS ARE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. THE BUMPERS AND CHROME ARE VERY NICE. THE CAR COMES WITH THE ORIGINAL OWNERS MANUAL AND KNOCK OFF TOOLS FOR THE WHEELS. I HAVE ALREADY SENT OUT BOTH AIR CLEANER BOXES TO BE POWDER COATED IN THE ORIGINAL COLOR AND ALSO THE TWO WATER TUBES THAT CONNECT TO THE RADIATOR. PLEASE CALL WITH QUESTIONS OR REQUESTS FOR MORE PICTURES. 208-640-3246 THE CAR IS PRESENTLY IN VALLEJO CALIFORNIA FOR PICK UP. Here's what a front-row seat looked like in 2014 Mille Miglia
Tue, 26 Aug 2014From 1927 to 1957, the Mille Miglia was one of the great, romantic European road races of the golden era of motorsports. The cars were fast, beautiful and loud but also extremely dangerous and regularly claimed drivers' lives. After two fatal accidents in '57, the event finally had to reform and came back in 1977 as a historic rally held over the course of several days. That didn't make things boring, though, and Xcar found that out firsthand with a front-row seat to this year's race in a 2015 Jaguar F-Type R Coupe.
Xcar was actually following the Jaguar team this year that included Ian Callum and Jay Leno in an XK120, which we previously got a glimpse of when it was covered on Jay Leno's Garage. Where Leno focuses on a more personal story of competing, this one takes a more macro view. You really get an idea of how crazy the Mille Miglia still is, and while the F-Type is way too new to actually compete in the rally, it can still wear an event sticker and drive with the vintage racers.
One amazing fact about today's Mille Miglia is that if you're competing in the event, there are basically no rules. The roads are technically still open to traffic, but the police shut down intersections and provide a rolling roadblock. Xcar's F-Type alternated between following on the course with the classics and snipping off chunks of the route to watch the participants arrive at each stop. Check out the video to experience fantastic historic rally.
Nearly 200 units of the Jaguar I-Pace recalled again due to fire risk
Mon, Oct 30 2023Jaguar has issued a safety recall that applies to nearly 200 units of the electric I-Pace. The crossovers included in the campaign can catch fire due to a battery-related problem, and they should have already been fixed but ended up not receiving the required software update. Assigned recall number 23V-709 by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the recall includes 199 examples of the 2019 to 2023 I-Pace built between February 15, 2018, and February 7, 2023. These vehicles were also part of recall number 23V-369 issued in March 2023. Jaguar has since received one new report of a car in the United States catching fire; the incident happened on September 8, 2023. When it issued the original recall, it cited eight reports of an I-Pace catching fire on our shores between June 2019 and May 2023. Jaguar explains the recalled cars are at risk of a "thermal overload," which can manifest itself as "smoke or fire" that "may occur underneath the vehicle, where the high-voltage traction battery is located." The company hasn't detailed the root of the problem, but it previously noted that the updated software monitors the battery pack's status, detects when it's at risk of a thermal overload, and warns the driver accordingly. It also limits the battery's charging capacity to 75% if it identifies a problem and instructs the driver to visit a dealer as soon as possible. The issue is that some dealers "used a non-approved service diagnostic tool" that didn't upload the updated software to the car, hence why the 199 vehicles included in campaign 23V-709 are being recalled a second time. Jaguar's fix remains the same: It's asking owners to take their I-Pace to the nearest authorized dealership so that a technician can update the Battery Energy Control Module (BECM) software. Owners who have already paid to get the problem fixed will be able to claim a refund from the British brand. And, they're being asked to park their car away from structures, such as a garage or a house, and charge outside for 30 days after the software update has been completed. Jaguar will begin notifying owners of affected cars by mail on December 15, 2023.
Watch the Jaguar F-Pace set a Guinness World Record for looping
Mon, Sep 14 2015On a chilly gray night in Germany, Jaguar officially leapt into the crossover segment. But it also reminded everyone its brand of grocery-getter will be anything but conventional. The 2017 F-Pace, which will launch next spring in the United States, debuted Monday evening at a glitzy event before the Frankfurt Motor Show. Rather than simply tear the cover off the car (you can watch that below), Jaguar sent a specially-prepped F-Pace blasting up a 63-foot-tall loop, setting a Guinness World Record in the process. Driven by British stunt driver Terry Grant, Jaguar said the F-Pace stood up against 6.5 Gs of gravity during the display. The stunt was meant to illustrate the F-Pace's poise, agility, and athletic nature. In fact, Jaguar is calling the vehicle the "ultimate practical sports car," instead of dwelling on the fact it's an SUV. Based on Jaguar's lightweight aluminum architecture, the F-Pace will arrive in America next year with two V6 engines rated at 340 horsepower or 380 hp. A new 2.0-liter diesel engine will join the lineup next fall, and serve as the entry-level model. It starts at $41,985. Related Video:
