The Series 2 E-Type was held to the very high standards set by the when it debuted. Compared to the Series 1, it had a lot live up to, and with the covered headlights a thing of the past it need to perform in other areas. The Series 2 FHC on offer here is a restored example that has been completed purely to be enjoyed. The long time owner gave this car a thorough freshening within the past two years. Many mechanical and cosmetic aspects were tended to, all with the thought of making it a reliable, presentable, well performing example. This particular E-Type, chassis # 1R25919 comes to us as a matching numbers example that was delivered new to it US customer right in Coventry, England as a Personal Export Delivery car. Then finished in British Racing Green with a black interior, 1R25919 was dispatched April 4th, 1969 and was sold new to Robert Tindall of North Carolina. Today this example has just come out of much recent restoration and sorting. Cosmetically it shows as an excellent driver quality example. The finish is consistent throughout with presentable bright work., and good gaps everywhere. The glass and rubber is in good order, and the tires show as only having a few hundred miles on them. There is however, absolutely no rust of any kind to be found. The rockers are clean and straight, the rear valence still has factory spot welds and seems, and the nose is thin as well with no major issues in the way oxidation of perforation. The floors were completely replaced during the restoration and show as new with all new hardware underneath as well. The rear carrier is clean and shows new bushings, seal, brakes etc... The interior is a new interior kit recently installed, and done well. All of the gauges are in proper working order and all of the lights, brakes, signals etc...are in working order as well. The seats, carpets, sills, headliner, doors and trunk space are all new and show nicely. The spare wheel well is clean and rust free as well. Mechanically is where this car strives, according to the most recent owner, and evident by the inspection, the entire driveline has been removed and rebuilt. The engine is clean and runs very strong with great oil pressure. The entire braking system is new, as are many of the suspension components. All nestled into a clean engine bay that does not show any signs of previous accident damage or any issues to be noted. Overall, this is an excellent opportunity to acquire an excellent E-Type that can be driven any time, even daily if desired. With a lot of mechanical sorting, rebuilding, and cosmetic reconditioning inside and out; this is an excellent opportunity for any enthusiast. Odometer reads 63,050 but true mileage is unknown. Jaguar announces continuation run of 1953 C-Type race cars
Thu, Jan 28 2021Jaguar is adding the 1953 C-Type race car to its Jaguar Classic "Continuation" line of historic cars. These factory-built cars are crafted to the same specifications as their inspirations, making them some of the most accurate replicas of any classics available to the public. For the C-Type, Jaguar turned to the 1953 Le Mans-winning works car, which was powered by a 3.4-liter, 220-horsepower straight-six sporting three Weber carbs. Unlike the road cars, the racers wore disc brakes at all four corners, which is good news for anybody who is purchasing one of these to drive. "Driven by some of the most-admired racing drivers in history, the C-Type laid the foundations for Jaguar’s success in endurance racing and is synonymous with design and engineering innovation," said Dan Pink, director of Jaguar Classic. "Seventy years on, Jaguar Classic is proud to be able to utilize the latest innovations in manufacturing technology – alongside traditional skills and unrivaled expertise – to reintroduce this legendary car for a new generation of enthusiasts to enjoy." While a new generation of enthusiasts may get the opportunity to drool over a factory-fresh C-Type for the first time, these continuation cars won't exactly be flying off the assembly lines. In fact, the production pace won't come anywhere close to that of the original. Jaguar plans to build just eight examples to be delivered prior to a motorsports-themed celebration event for those lucky customers. (Just 53 were built in the original 1950s production run, of which 43 were sold to private owners.) If they're so inclined, owners of the new C-Types will be able to race their cars in sanctioned vintage series. FIA-approved harness mounts can even be included from the factory. Despite that nod to convention, Jaguar's key motivation with the C-Type revival is staying true to the originals. "Building on the experience gained with previous Jaguar Classic Continuation programs for Lightweight E-Type, XKSS and D-Type, Jaguar Classic engineers consulted the Jaguar archives and cross-referenced scan data taken from an original C-Type in conjunction with the latest computer aided design (CAD) technology, to create the most authentic new C-Type possible," Jaguar said in its announcement. Jaguar is even throwing a bone to those of us who will only be able to admire these beauties from afar. As of Wednesday, a configurator tool for the new C-Type Continuation is available on Jaguar's website.
Jaguar is developing an electric car to join I-Pace crossover
Wed, Apr 17 2019NEW YORK — Straight from nabbing the World Car of the Year award at the New York International Auto Show for the new 2019 I-Pace electric crossover, as well as publicly unveiling the 2020 XE sport sedan, Jaguar's design chief says the brand is also developing a car with a fully electric powertrain. "We are doing more battery cars at Jaguar, yes," Ian Callum told Autoblog. "That's all I'm saying." Callum wouldn't divulge further details except to add, "When you're doing electric cars, they're new cars. They're not just batteries put in an old car. You can't do that." Jaguar has been rumored to be planning a potent all-electric version of the XJ based on its flexible new Modular Longitudinal Architecture. Jaguar Land Rover has said that it plans to offer each new or significantly redesigned model in electrified variants starting in 2020. Land Rover is also showing a mild-hybrid version of the 2020 Range Rover Evoque and 2019 Range Rover Sport, plus plug-in hybrid variants of the 2020 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport. In addition to being named World Car of the Year, the I-Pace took home World Car Design of the Year and World Green Car of the Year. The F-Pace, the brand's flagship SUV, won World Car of the Year in 2017. Callum also said he believes that sedans have a future, even as he acknowledged the importance of SUVs as the brand's volume-selling "breadwinners." Jaguar is an increasingly rare breed of automaker with more cars, at four [the F-Type, XE, XF and XJ] than SUVs [the I-Pace, E-Pace and F-Pace]. "The vehicle mix is the right balance," he said. "I personally don't believe that sedans are going to disappear. People will continue to go with sedans. The range you see currently will be eventually replaced by like-sized cars. That's all I can say about that at the moment, but the XJ will be replaced, and eventually the XE and XF will be replaced. I really believe the cars are here forever, I don't think they're going to disappear in favor of SUVs."
Watch the Jaguar I-Pace live reveal
Thu, Mar 1 2018The day has finally come for the Jaguar I-Pace electric crossover to be revealed, and you can watch as the sheet is pulled off the company's first full EV. The reveal starts at 1:00 p.m. ET, and can be viewed in the embedded video above. The I-Pace was first revealed in concept form in Nov. 2016. Jaguar claimed it had a range of 220 miles, 400 horsepower, and 516 pound-feet of torque. Jaguar has also promised very fast charging at 100kW DC chargers. Apparently it can regain 80% of its charge in 45 minutes at such a charger. Jaguar has claimed this charging capability for the production model, but we have yet to see if the power and range numbers held up. Jaguar will also run a one-make I-Pace race series alongside Formula E. We'll see if any further announcements are made about the racing version of the car and the series.
