1967 Jaguar E-type Ots: Stunning, Numbers Matching, Original Colors, Superb Xke on 2040-cars

Year:1967 Mileage:95805

Offered for sale is a gorgeous, all numbers matching, mechanically superb, final model year 1967 Jaguar E-Type 4.2L Series I Open Two Seater (OTS), finished in factory correct, original and wonderfully era-specific Primrose over Black leather, documented by its Heritage Certificate. A solid, original and correct car to begin with, the previous owner undertook a costly and entirely correct restoration process in 2005 including paint, upholstery, and mechanicals while keeping the car original to its factory build specifications. Consequently, the car presents beautifully, showing only the negligible wear accrued through the occasional fair weather weekend drive following its completion. There were absolutely no issues, mechanical concerns or accident damage leading up to its restoration, rather just an original '67 E-Type that was beginning to show too much patina for the previous owner's liking. Whether it will continue its service as a cherished weekend driver or as a worthy Jaguar Club of North America event participant, this gorgeous example needs nothing but a new doting owner to be enjoyed or added to any notable collection.

The correct factory Primrose finish is fantastic: deep, lustrous, completely consistent and marred only two negligible paint chips that in no way detract from the car's considerable overall appeal. These chips are shown in the pictures, one on the driver side corner lip of the bonnet and one below the driver side windshield wiper. Aside from these incredibly insignificant imperfections, the finish is absolutely flawless. The body is entirely straight, free of dings or dents and retaining even and uniform gaps and panel fits throughout. The brightwork is in excellent shape, as is all of the glass and rubber, and the chrome knock-off wire wheels are wrapped in nearly new radial tires. The interior has been reupholstered in all the correct Jaguar materials and it presents nicely, the seats, carpets and interior panels all virtually flawless. The soft top shows only the most minimal wear with a crystal clear rear window and an original boot cover. The car’s undercarriage is entirely correct, solid and free of rust and the engine compartment, while not meticulously detailed to show standards (the car has been driven over the last seven years), presents beautifully.

Final model year E-Type Series I roadsters are among the most desirable Jaguars on the market, thanks in no small part to the venerable 4.2L engine. Firing up without hesitation, the engine idles consistently, pulls strongly and smoothly through each of the original gearbox’s four gears with excellent and even compression across all cylinders. The cooling system works exceptionally well and the exhaust note from the dual stainless system is fantastic, allowing for grin-inducing performance in nearly any situation. The car drives and brakes straight and true, the suspension is tight and the car is a joy to drive, whether tooling through town, roaring through the canyons or bombing down the highway.

With Series I E-Types selling at outlandish prices in recent auctions (as much as $425k domestically), this car represents an excellent opportunity to acquire an excellent, appreciating example that has been exceptionally well cared for and is entirely numbers matching, mechanically excellent, honest and correct. Please bid accordingly.

We want this car to go to great home and would be happy to further discuss it and answer any questions, so please feel free to email us or call us at 805-202-4557. You can also visit us online at GoodmanReed.

Goodman Reed Motorcars

We’ve always had an appreciation for classic European cars and over the years have created an eclectic personal collection. We only buy cars that we’d personally be interested in owning and generally only sell them to make room for other acquisitions. That time has come for this Jaguar (if the price is right, of course – this isn’t a fire sale). We try to give accurate descriptions of the cars we’re selling, but we’re enthusiasts, not experts, and we encourage and are happy to help facilitate personal or professional inspections. But please do so before bidding, as the alternative harms our ability to make sales to other interested parties who have done their proper due diligence before bidding.

For U.S. buyers a 10% non-refundable deposit is required within 3 days of the auction’s end, the balance to be paid within 7 days of the auction’s end. Foreign buyers must pay in full within 7 business days of the auction’s end. Buyer is responsible for shipping, however we’d be more that happy to help with recommendations and arrangements. The car is listed locally and we reserve the right to end the auction at any time should it sell prior to auction’s end. Thanks for your interest.

Jaguar Land Rover may build factory in Saudi Arabia

Tue, 11 Dec 2012

The Middle East is one of the fastest-growing markets for Land Rover, so it makes sense that the automaker is looking to set up shop in the region. According to Automotive News, Jaguar Land Rover is in talks with the people of Saudi Arabia to build a factory in the country at an expected initial cost of $1.2 billion. Still in the early stage of talks, the proposed facility could start up by 2017 using locally sourced materials such as steel and aluminum.
Such an arrangement could be beneficial for both entities as Saudi Arabia looks to diversify its oil-reliant economy and Land Rover could get local production capacity of around 50,000 units. The report also says that the agreement talks about the possibility for Jaguar models to be built at the same plant further down the road.
This won't be the first vehicle produced in Saudi Arabia - that honor goes to the KSU Gazal-1 - but it will be the first from a major global automaker.

Chris Harris finds the Jaguar F-Type R Coupe rather drifty

Wed, 26 Mar 2014

Our own Matt Davis may have called the new Jaguar F-Type R Coupe "one heady rascal," but our review was disappointingly short on drifting, tire smoke and general, English shenanigans. You know, the sort of things that Chris Harris from Drive excels at.
Actually, relative to Harris' other reviews, this one is rather serious. There's a good recap of the F-Type on the road, with Harris referencing the car's "great bottom" and "amazing ass," quite frequently. Surprisingly, Harris says the more powerful F-Type R is just "incrementally" faster than the 495-horsepower F-Type V8 S Convertible. Following the on-road portion, it's off to the track. You can probably predict what goes on there. Overall, aside from some quibbles, Harris has nothing but praise for the newest cat.
