1962 Jaguar XKE. Drives and shifts  beautifully. All system were rebuilt a few years  ago and very few miles put on the car since. All numbers match. I had the car repainted with a 2 stage, base coat, clear coat finish. Vredestein radial tires. Starts easily. I upgraded the Lucas starter to a high torque starter and the Lucas generator to a small, high output, aircraft type alternator for reliability. The original units will come with the car. Also added was a nice sound system with a multi disc cd changer in the trunk and 2 speakers mounted behind the seats and two in the console below the center gauges,  the rears being barely visible unless you go in search of them. Rust free car and was restored from a very solid car to begin the restoration.

I removed the front bumper with motif bar. I have it and it comes with the car. I simply prefer the look of the front nose this way, similar to the competition lightweight E Types of the early 60's. Very simple to put it back on.

I am selling the car to make room for a new project that is nearing completion and need the garage space. I still need to take a photo or two of the car with the top up. I have never had to put it up as I have never taken the car out on a bad day. Always kept in a dry garage.

All electrics work fine, and all systems function perfectly. Great brakes, all rebuilt when restored, along with the entire drivetrain and carbs. I had not started the car for a few months. Today I checked all fluids, pulled up the choke, turned on the key, hit the start button and the car started immediately. It always has. The triple ,2 inch carbs are all set perfectly and the car idles smoothly at 800 rpm with oil pressure at idle of some 60 lbs.

The floors are not the early flat floor style, but this is one of the first few cars that came with floor pans for more leg room. It is not the original style steering wheel. I changed it to this smaller wheel but have the Motolita wheel that came with the car when I bought it and it will come with the car.. I like this smaller steering wheel for ease of cornering and more leg room.

A beautiful car and a great investment.

I had a request for additional photos of the engine bay and underneath the car. I did not clean it up underneath as it is 100 degrees today, so forgive the bit of dirt and a couple of cob webs.

Could Jaguar become an EV-only brand?

Fri, Oct 12 2018

Just yesterday we wrote about the Heisenbergian uncertainty surrounding the future of the Jaguar F-Type. A new report in Autocar prompts us to consider extending that ambiguity to the entire Jaguar brand. The UK magazine reports the automaker's product planners have devised a ten-year plan to switch to a pure EV lineup of cars and crossovers. According to Autocar's sources this is a planning exercise and doesn't have the green light, but it's "fairly advanced" and has adherents inside the company. The first shot fired would be an all-electric XJ replacement. That sedan, a "no-holds-barred luxury car" to challenge the Tesla Model S and Porsche Taycan, would provide emissions-free motoring before the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and BMW 7 Series come with their EV propositions. Around 2023, an EV crossover a touch larger than the full-sized Audi E-tron would replace both the XF and XE sedans. Two years later, a new mid-sized I-Pace would debut as both the F-Pace and E-Pace fade out. And two years after that, around 2027, the J-Pace luxury crossover would sigh its last ICE gasp. And what about the F-Type? The report says "with no replacement for F-Type in the works," an electric sports car "is also a possibility." There's no mention of the XK revival. Right now, Jaguar sells seven models - four sedans and three crossovers. As the Autocar article's written, come 2027 Jaguar would have an electric XJ sedan, a full-sized EV crossover, the I-Pace, and perhaps an electric sports car. That's a brave new world - one we're not sure Jaguar dealers could survive in. Problem is that Jaguar and its dealers are having plenty of problems now. Chinese-market volatility, the cloud around diesels, and Brexit uncertainty have contributed to a sales slump so dire that Jaguar's Castle Bromwich plant is going to a three-day week for the rest of the year. The sales flu has spread to Land Rover, too, the brand's Solihull plant closing for two weeks to realign dealer inventory. Considering all that, and with no easy relief in sight, the product planners are apparently debating whether a new, traditional three-model sedan range is worth the investment. The upside of going all-electric is said to be higher sales, with internal estimates supposing 300,000 units annually. Last year Jaguar sold 178,500 units. The marque could rake in larger profit margins on those sales, too, thanks to premium buyers being ready to shell out big ducats for EVs.

Jaguar testing hardcore F-Type R-S GT?

Wed, 16 Apr 2014

Some automakers make a hardcore model, then sit back and revel in its awesomeness. Jaguar does things a little differently. It takes a standard production model, gives it more power, bigger brakes and a tighter suspension and slaps the letter R on it. Then it gives it even more power, even bigger brakes and an even tighter suspension and calls it an R-S. Sometimes the engineers in Coventry don't even think that's enough, so they strip out some weight and dial things up even further and call it an R-S GT.
So far, they've only gone that far with the XK (transformed first into the XKR, then the XKR-S, and finally the XKR-S GT), but with that model on its way out, Jaguar seems to be preparing to give the newer F-Type a similar treatment. Now we can't be sure that what we're looking at is an F-Type R-S GT, especially since the 550-horsepower engine from the XKR-S and XFR-S is already powering the existing F-Type R Coupe, but it does seem to have all the makings of a hardcore performance model.
Compared to the existing F-Type, the development model pictured here has a bigger front splitter (like the one on the Project 7 concept), a big rear wing and a set of what looks like pretty big lightweight alloys. It's also, tellingly, a roadster, which (unlike the coupe) has until now topped out at 500hp with the V8 S model. So while it may be hard to say exactly just what Jaguar has in store for us here (or what they'll call it), one thing's for sure: it's gonna be fast and loud.

Watch this Jaguar XJ220 perform a fiery burnout

Thu, 19 Jun 2014

We like to think that at least some supercar owners drive their exotic machinery the way they're meant to be driven. The reality is more likely that most pamper them in climate-controlled environments and rarely actually drive them. But Tax The Rich seems dedicated to balancing them all out by hooning the heck out of some of the most expensive and desirable supercars the world has ever seen - whether it's a Ferrari Enzo rallying along dirt roads or a pair of F50s playing tug of war.
The YouTube channel has even played around with a Jaguar XJ220 before, but not quite like this. In its latest clip, Tax The Rich goes a step or two beyond the usual smokey burnout, lighting up the rear wheels of a super-rare Jag, all for our viewing pleasure. And take pleasure we do in the video below, even as part of us cringes at the thought of potentially reducing one of the fastest Jaguars in history to a smoldering hulk.
