I have a very clean 1996 Rodeo that has very low miles and has, very good tires including spare look new very nice, new front shocks , motor is in new shape has been replaced do to overheating from bad water pump . Has new timing belt and water pump, new fuel pumps , new fuel injectors, machine shop cleaned heads and installed brand new hydraulic lifters but still has valve train noise but is not a problem with heads just play on lifters due to its over 80000 miles and they are known for noisy valve train due to too many moving parts with one cam both sides since there is no adjustment so Study the internet and you will find that its a normal sound from play on valve train and has new cam sensor and new oxygen sensors all 4 and new mass airflow sensor ,newer battery , new wheel cover , interior has slight wear very slight ,power windows in good order, radiator perfect, a/c has new compressor and accumulator and Freon and seals. Has new a/c system .paint is in good shape very few nicks and hood has slight dents from hail.. SUV runs and drives like new , transmission shifts like new . This rodeo is very nice and is ready to drive selling to buy another a bigger SUV ,not selling because of any other reason. Replaced belt tensioner for compressor and replaced fan housing for fan to have new bearings had slight play so I replaced to keep from having any issues . Runs and drives like it should. All new oil ,plugs , and service ... Paid 1500.00 with it not running when I bought 3 years ago just now had work performed to get it sold , Spent over 2500.00 on parts and repairs and labor have 4000.00 invested but it has new motor now and fresh heads and head gaskets same cam and valve train if the valve covers are removed which is simple and replace valve train parts heads would be brand new like the block which is new. Has 100 miles on new block . So to sum it up I went overboard on repairs and parts but at least the rodeo is not a vehicle you would buy and have to put it in the shop for repairs ..You can drive it any were and any place and feel sure you have a dependable vehicle that will get you where you are going with out having to be towed home,, I spent the money on vehicle to get it on the road and got it running like I wanted. Runs very well and lots of power I was very surprised on how much pick up and go they have impressive ,,I have never owned a rodeo this was my first project on a rodeo. Very easy to maintain and to get to plugs etc. Vehicle just sat too long so money and to be spent due to it was not being driven and that's why such low miles, with a new 2 year old we are going to buy a full size SUV and just suffer from bad gas millage LOL. My wife wants a Lincoln navigator and selling to buy just that .

Junkyard Gem: 1992 Isuzu Amigo
Mon, Jan 16 2023After some success providing General Motors with small Faster pickups badged as Chevrolet LUVs in North America (plus some Chevette-related Geminis labeled "Buick/Opel by Isuzu," which confused everybody), Isuzu began selling vehicles under its own name here in the early 1980s. At first, we just got I-Mark subcompacts and P'up pickups. Then the Trooper SUV appeared in 1984, and Isuzu joined the suburban-commuter truck game in a big way. For the 1989 model year, the little Amigo three-door convertible SUV landed on our shores. Here's one of those early trucks, found in still-rad condition in a San Francisco Bay Area self-service yard recently. Once Isuzu made a version with five doors and a solid roof, giving it Rodeo badges in the process, the Amigo became more of an afterthought in the North American Isuzu world. Amigo sales halted here after 1995, then resumed for 1998-2000 (after which the three-door became the Rodeo Sport before disappearing in 2003). Starting in 1996, Isuzu replaced its Amigo-platform-related pickup with a rebadged Chevy S-10 known as the Hombre. That meant that Spanish-speaking Isuzu shoppers could be disturbed by the prospect of buying a friend or a man. The Isuzu company itself was named after a river in Mie Prefecture. The Suzuki Samurai kicked off the "cute-ute" craze for the 1986 model year, with the Suzuki Sidekick/Geo Tracker appearing in 1989. Around the same time, irritating pastel colors and squiggly graphics became trendy. This — and other unfortunate 1980s fashions — continued well into the 1990s (One man's "irritating" and "unfortunate" is another's "delightful" - Ed). This odometer can't be right! I suspect a broken speedometer cable. The engine is a 2.6-liter inline-four rated at 119 horsepower. Unlike Honda's VTEC, the variable-cam-timing system that made its debut in the 1989 Honda Integra, Isuzu's I-TEC name just stood for an electronic fuel injection system. The only transmission in the Amigo for the first couple of years was a five-speed manual, which is in this truck. That three-pedal setup kept the Amigo's appeal limited to the small group of American drivers willing to work a clutch. The optional automatic became available for 1992. You could get the Amigo with four-wheel drive, but this one is the cheaper rear-wheel-drive version. This interior looks so nice that perhaps this Amigo really did get junked with 57,000+ on the odometer.
Mazda and Isuzu to collaborate on a new pickup truck
Mon, Jul 11 2016After decades, Mazda has finally untangled itself from its relationship with Ford. The last vestige of that partnership is the BT-50, a rebadged version of the global Ford Ranger pickup truck. Once the BT-50 ends production, Mazda has announced that it will collaborate with Isuzu to develop its next generation of pickup trucks. The BT-50 was co-developed with Ford's Australian division. In their current iteration, the BT-50 and its Ranger twin were never on sale in the United States. Mazda's last pickup in the US was the B-Series, itself also a rebadged version of the old Ford Ranger. Isuzu pulled out of the US passenger vehicle market in 2009, although it still sells commercial vehicles here. Isuzu, continuing a long and complicated relationship with General Motors, co-developed the diesel engine that currently powers the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon. In select markets, Isuzu sells a rebadged version of the Colorado as the D-Max. Details on the Mazda/Isuzu tie-up are scarce. A single press release simply says "Isuzu will produce next-generation pickup trucks for Mazda, based on Isuzu's pick-up truck model." This isn't the first truck collaboration between the two companies. Since 2004, Mazda has sold the Titan, a rebadged version of the Isuzu Elf commercial truck. The Elf is sold in the US as the Isuzu N-Series. Those in the US hoping for a new competitor in the midsize-truck segment shouldn't get their hopes up for the new truck. There are currently no plans to bring them here. There is hope, though, that Ford will bring the Ranger replacement stateside sometime in the next few years. Junkyard Gem: 2005 Isuzu Ascender
Sun, Mar 18 2018We know the GMT360 platform best as the basis for the Chevrolet Trailblazer and GMC Envoy, but there were four additional trucks in the GMT360 family: the 2002-2004 Oldsmobile Bravada, the 2004-2007 Buick Rainier, the 2005-2009 Saab 9-7X, and the 2003-2008 Isuzu Ascender. All these trucks were more or less the same, but the Isuzu is by far the rarest; I searched for a junkyard Ascender for months before I found this one in Arizona. Exact production figures are tough to find, and some will tell you that the Saab 9-7X is even more rare. In wrecking yards, though, I see SaaBlazers pretty regularly, but it has been like pulling teeth to find an Ascender. Perhaps the Saab name adds more value than the Isuzu name, when you're searching for a used SUV. Isuzu dealerships in the United States sold Ascenders until the fateful day in 2009 when the company packed up and left the country. Had the Daewoo brand stuck around in the United States past 2002, we might have seen a Daewoo-badged GMT360 as well. Ascenders were built in Ohio and Oklahoma. This one, photographed in Phoenix, came from the latter plant. Most of the GMT360s could be had with various flavors of V8 engines as optional equipment, but nearly all of these trucks came with the Vortec 4200 4.2-liter straight-six. My 1941 Plymouth project car is getting one of these engines. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings.
