 2004 Hyundai Tiburon Turbo

The car is solid, in great shape, and low miles. The motor runs great. No check engine light or stored codes. It has some loose ends that I lost interest in finishing, but nothing to keep you from driving and enjoying the car. The stock motor was turbocharged 3 years ago with a Garrett T25. The build includes a OBX-R turbo manifold, ARK single cat delete exit exhaust, HKS blow off valve, Hyundai 290cc injectors to support 5psi of boost, front mount intercooler with aluminum charge pipes, ACT 6 puck clutch, eBay short throw shifter, Autometer oil pressure, boost, volts gauges in A-pillar pod, AEM UEGO wide band mounted in dash, HKS turbo timer, and AEM Fuel Ignition Controller (not installed but will include with sale). The harness needs to be wired in and the car can then be taken to a certified AEM tuning shop. I do have a non turbo header for the car if a turbo motor is not for you. The build is capable of much more than it currently is running but it is extremely reliable in its current state. The car is currently running off the factory ECU but has compensated for boost via larger injectors so no issues there. A/C was deleted out of the car to relocate the alternator away from the turbo as part of the turbo build. There is no radio in the car currently, but all the connections and mount are there to install a double DIN stock or aftermarket  radio. No cruise control either. Some of the interior panels have been painted blue. OTTO-R seats have been installed, non-slider, but the factory seats will be included with the vehicle. Suspension has been modified with Drop Zone lowering springs and Koni adjustable struts, pretty stiff ride but not back breaking. Konig 18x8 wheels with Nankang NS-II tires 60% tread. The car does need an alignment and tires balanced. The headlights are shot. They became very hazed a few years back and were slightly tinted, but now just need to be replaced with new ones. The back seats have been removed and refinished to support a JL Audio sub box (audio components not included in sale). Aftermarket tail lights are also tinted but in great shape and never been bothered by law enforcement. The car is tinted 15% all the way around. Probably forgetting a lot of other stuff. I can send more pictures if needed. The car has never been a daily driver for me, rather a toy to screw around with so if you're not mechanically inclined or want a little bit of a project, this car is not for you.

The car is as-is. I'm the second owner of the car so everything listed above is everything I know about it. I'm listing the car for sale because I don't really drive it much anymore and could spend the money on something else. To be clear, I don't need to sell the car so low ball offers won't be entertained.

Surprise Costs Have A Cost: Why we turned down the Hyundai Tucson Fuel Cell

Tue, Aug 19 2014

They say you can always tell the pioneers. They're the ones with the arrows in their backs. Unfortunately, that was our experience pursuing – and eventually rejecting – the new hydrogen fuel cell-powered Hyundai Tucson. I first heard about Hyundai's new hydrogen fuel cell vehicle (FCV) at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November 2013. As a tech buff, the thought of driving a new, clean technology vehicle sounded exciting. Best of all, Hyundai was wrapping the new vehicle in a smart, familiar package, as a loaded current-generation Tucson SUV. The FCV Tucson was billed as $499 a month with $2,999 down, with free fuel and free maintenance. Our family needed a new, small, fuel efficient SUV, so I signed up for information on the upcoming lease program. Someone has to go first. Why not us? In the spring of 2014, I learned more at a Clean Fuel Symposium, held on the Queen Mary in Long Beach. The panel was packed with experts on alternative fuel vehicles. One spokesperson outlined the chicken or egg problem with alternative fuels like hydrogen: fuels first or vehicles? Another said something that I should have heard more clearly. "If the argument [to move to alternative fuel vehicles] has to start with a change of behavior from consumers, that's a hard row to hoe." I would soon to learn what an FCV would really cost, both in hours and in dollars. Nonetheless, I was ready to try jumping the hurdles and get an alternative fuel car. A low impact on the environment, plus free fuel and a solo car pool lane sticker? What could go wrong? My wife was a much harder nut to crack. My habit of jokingly calling it a "nuclear-powered" car probably didn't help much either. Our conversations went like this: "A what kind of car?" "Hydrogen fuel cell." "What?" "It's essentially an electric car." "Don't those things have a really short range?" "Yes. That's what the hydrogen is for. You fill it with hydrogen to fill the fuel cell, instead of charging it overnight like an electric car." "Where do you get hydrogen?" "Well..." It turned out the nearest hydrogen station was in Burbank, about 13 miles from our house. In LA traffic, that could be more than half an hour's drive each way. Since there's an excellent bakery in Burbank (Porto's), I told my wife I was fine with taking the time each week to fuel up every 200 miles or so.

Hyundai Sonata is the first application of Android Auto

Tue, May 26 2015

Hyundai is grabbing an early technological lead as the first automaker to launch Android Auto in one of its production models. The Google-made operating system is now available on the 2015 Sonata with navigation, and current owners of the vehicle can get the software through an update available at dealers. The OS arrives on additional Hyundai products soon. Similar to Apple's CarPlay, Android Auto syncs with a smartphone to mirror some elements of the operating system directly on the vehicle's infotainment screen. The software allows for navigation through Google Maps, text messaging, and phone calls. Plus, it supports some third-party apps, as well. A driver can then control all of these functions through the car's microphone and physical controls. In a nod to safety, Android Auto also locks the phone's screen when in use to keep people from looking at their device while on the road. Beyond the Android Auto software in the Sonata, users need Android 5.0 or later and a companion app on their phone. Several other automakers intend to support the standard in the future. Autoblog recently got the opportunity to try out the OS, and you can look forward to a full report about it. All-New Integration Available on Best-Selling Sonata First car company to launch Android Auto on production vehicles, starting with the 2015 Sonata with Navigation Free Android Auto software update available for current owners of 2015 Sonatas with Navigation Android Auto reduces driver distraction by integrating the driver's smartphone with the vehicle's screen and controls Fountain Valley, Calif., May 26, 2015 – Today, Hyundai becomes the first car company to launch Android Auto™ on production vehicles. Android Auto is premiering on the 2015 Sonata with Navigation at dealerships nationwide, and will later become available on other Hyundai models. "Android Auto aligns with Hyundai's core interior design principles of safety, intuitiveness and simplicity," said Dave Zuchowski, president and CEO, Hyundai Motor America. "We launched this highly anticipated feature on our best-selling Sonata, adding to our promise of value. With the launch of Android Auto, we provide more owners with the experience of cutting-edge technology." Android Auto not only brings a high technology experience to Hyundai owners, but also improves safety.

Mr. Millen goes to Washington

Thu, 19 Jun 2014

Ever driven around DC? We have. And let us tell you, people drive like jerks in the nation's capital. Mostly because they think they're more important than you, and they're probably right. But Rhys Millen is out to put them all to shame.
In this latest video, the guy who Red Bull refers to as a "precision driver" (and who the rest of us would call one of the best drifters ever to burn rubber) takes to the streets of the District in his Hyundai Veloster Turbo. There he does what he does best around sites like Capitol Hill, Thomas Circle and RFK Stadium - the one-time home of the Washington Redskins and Montreal Expos (pardon us, "Washington Nationals") - all with a police escort of black Tahoes and Harley outriders. Scope out the action in the video below.
