1998 HYUNDAI TIBURON FX.  5 SPEED 2.0 DOHC
Up for sale is my custom 98 tiburon.
CLEAR TITLE IN HAND. - not an R title.
car was in an accident and repaired several years before i got it. 101000 miles on the clock.
car is plastidipped and was featured as a spotlight car on dipitcrew @ www.dipitcrew.com/crew-spotlight.html
see the featured youtube video here - http://youtu.be/Od4yVCBTcxk
car shows signs of it's age. it's not perfect by any means, it hesitates when cold, but it runs and drives great after it warms to normal temperature.
several new oem and performance parts. too many to list. but i'll try
new low profile tires have about 2000 miles on them with a fresh alignment and new tie rod ends. car drives straight as an arrow, and handles great.
car has had bodywork done, including an korean fiberglass hood that i had imported. the car has been plastidipped wich is like a spray wrap.  (google plastidip or goto dipyourcar.com)
it has new o2 sensors, maf sensor, air intake sensor, crank and cam sensors, new catalytic converter, new tires, new air filter, alzetta tail lights, custom painted headlights and clear corners and 2.5" full stainless exhaust included.
it's been well taken care of, and should provide several thousand more miles of enjoyment.
I also have a coil over conversion kit that has not been installed yet that i would include for an additional $50 if you want to lower this car.
the car is a 5 speed manual trans and has a new clutch and flywheel with about 8000 miles on them. shifts fine, no problems with trans.
the engine has an intermittent lifter tick that only happens once in a while. It was checked out by the dealer, and I was told by the hyundai technician and cooberated with several online forums that this is normal for the 2.0 DOHC engine of this age. it goes away with fresh oil changes.
I have a complete 2.5 stainless exhaust with header that will be included with the car. it's removed due to emission requirements. new catalytic converter/header was just installed 6 months ago. the muffler/tailpipe end is still on the car for a great performance, looks, and sound. Car has a cd player that plays mp3 cds. I also have the oem tail lights if the alzetta tail lights aren't what you like. i would install the oem for you.
interior is in good shape. it has normal wear and tear for being a 98.  air conditioning does not work, i never had it checked for repair, i'm not sure what is wrong with it. please message me for additional pics or to ask any questions.
car does run and drive great.  I drive it daily.
however the car is being sold as-is with no warranty implied.
thanks for looking.
the car is also being sold locally and online, so get it while you can!

Hyundai pulls motorsports in US, parts ways with Rhys Millen Racing

Wed, Dec 10 2014

Automakers don't necessarily undertake racing programs in proportion to their size. A company like Ferrari or McLaren, for example, may be small, but their racing programs are huge. The inverse could be said of a company like Hyundai, which has grown to rank among the largest automakers in the world, but has traditionally maintained a relatively short reach when it comes to racing. And now it's getting even smaller as the company is shutting down its entire motorsport program in the United States. Not that the program was that big to begin with in the first place. Although Hyundai recently launched a factory effort in the World Rally Championship, in North America its competition activities revolved essentially around Rhys Millen Racing, the California-based outfit with which the Korean automaker has tackled Pikes Peak, Formula Drift and the Global RallyCross Series – the latter of which Millen describes as "arguably the fastest most exciting form of racing to hit the US in years." But now Millen has announced that Hyundai has withdrawn from their partnership that has stood for six years. Without support from the automaker, Rhys Millen is putting up his Hyundais for sale or rental to any privateer team interested in getting in on the RallyCross action, while the team looks for a new partner with which to move forward. As for Hyundai, it seems the automaker may have stretched its motorsport budget a little thin with the WRC effort, on which it will now apparently rely to establish its racing cred. We reached out to Hyundai for clarification on its future motorsport plans in America, but representatives weren't immediately available for comment. We will update this story when and if we hear back.

Hyundai celebrates selling one-millionth Santa Fe

Fri, 02 Aug 2013

Hyundai celebrated a milestone yesterday when it sold the one-millionth Santa Fe crossover, which was the Korean automaker's first-and-only SUV when it was introduced in 2000. Hyundai credits the Santa Fe as being a key factor to the company's growth and success in the US, but it didn't describe the one-millionth Santa Fe or say where it was sold.
Before Hyundai introduced the crossover, which has been offered in short- and long-wheelbase versions from the start, it was primarily known for making inexpensive economy cars. Today the majority of Santa Fes are produced at its factory in West Point, Georgia, though they were previously made at the Hyundai Motor Manufacturing plant in Montgomery, Alabama. Today the Alabama plant makes Sonata and Elantra sedans. Hyundai says it will produce nearly 500,000 vehicles in the US this year, and will sell a total of 700,000 vehicles here.

IED Torino students dream up the PassoCorto for Hyundai

Wed, 05 Mar 2014

Every year the students at the Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) in Turin work up something new to unveil at the Geneva Motor Show. It's usually a concept for an Italian automaker (like the Alfa Romeo Gloria, the Cisitalia 202 E or the Abarth ScorpION) or at least something European (like the concepts they worked up with McLaren or the ones they did for Aston Martin). But this time they've wandered a little farther from home in designing a sports car for Hyundai.
It's called the PassoCorto - Italian for "short wheelbase" - and it was designed in collaboration between the grad students in the Master in Transportation Design program (under the supervision of Pininfarina design Luca Borgogno) and the Hyundai's European design center.
The design (theoretically) calls for a 1.6-liter twin-turbo four, mounted amidships and driving 266 horsepower to the rear wheels. It looks pretty promising, and if Hyundai were ever keen on taking on the likes of the Alfa Romeo 4C and Porsche Cayman, this strikes us as a damn good place to start.
