Base model Genesis Coupe.  Mechanically sound.  Engine runs flawlessly and has excellent power for a little four-cylinder.  0-60 in about six seconds with a great sound to boot.  Regular oil changes, the most recent just a few days ago.  Brakes and tires show very little wear and, as my mechanic mentioned, they could pass for new.  Low-profile stock tires offer excellent grip and the chassis is straight as an arrow.  This car corners like nothing else in this price range.  Electronic systems are all in good working order.  No blown-out speakers or burnt-out lights and no warning lights on the dash.  Interior is close to flawless, no tears or damage.  Factory floormats always protected and are in pristine condition.  The body, likewise, is in excellent condition with no panel gaps or rust to be found anywhere.  The paint is Hyundai's limited edition 'Bathurst Black' and, in the sun, it has a tasteful understated glitter to it.  Though the car has never suffered even a minor impact, there is, unfortunately, one very small dent and some cosmetic damage on the driver's door from another careless driver in a parking lot.  In short, the car is accident-free, smoke-free, pet-free, and if not for that dent, it would pass for a showroom model.

Features include a stock stereo with AM, FM, and XM channels (subscription not provided for the latter).  Also has a CD player, iPod connectivity (cable included), MP3 auxiliary connectivity (third-party cable included), and the capability of reading music files off of a USB flash drive.  Sound quality is, admittedly, about average.  The car further has Bluetooth phone tethering capability with built-in microphone for hands-free calling.  As mentioned above, factory floormats are included and have been kept completely dirt-free.  Otherwise, though not exactly a feature, it is worth noting that it is possible to turn off the traction control with the simple press of a large convenient button.

The car was purchased from Murdock Hyundai in Murray, Utah in November of 2011 and I am the first and only owner.  It has never left the state and was largely kept off the roads during the snowstorms that plagued us up here in the north this winter.  I use it, by and large, as my daily driver.  Thus, this particular car itself does not have a notably exciting history, but as for the model line in general, a Genesis, competing at the Pike's Peak International Hill Climb event in both 2009 and 2011, set a new record time for 2WD production cars in both years.

On the subject of using it as a daily driver, I would like to point out that, for a little two-door sports coupe, the Genesis is surprisingly practical.  A spacious trunk, back seats which could easily seat a pair of children, and a ride which is firm but exceedingly comfortable for extended periods of time.  The 2.0T engine, in addition to the power, can be quite efficient.  Personally, I have managed to get the onboard readout to go up to 42mpg, much higher than the advertised highway efficiency of 30mpg. Though to be fair, I was only doing 40mph in sixth gear at the time.

Now with regards to payment, Escrow.com is probably the safest option for both parties, though I am open to other suggestions.  Buyer is responsible for shipping.

Questions and comments may be directed to me via e-mail.  Thank you for looking.

Hyundai's Bill Thomas told 3AW that a future where most vehicles on the road are powered by hydrogen is "a way off. We're working on our next-generation fuel cell vehicle which we're hoping to bring out in 2018, but even at that stage, we're only talking in small numbers." Hyundai, Buick dealer apologize in wake of Chinese baby social media incident

Sat, 09 Mar 2013

A very strange story out of China today, as Hyundai and a Chinese Buick dealer were forced to face allegations of using allusions to an infamous child murder on a social media site as a way of promoting the safety features of their respective vehicles.
The original sad tale goes something like this: On March 4, a man reported to police that he had left his infant child in a running Toyota RAV4 while he ran into a supermarket briefly. When he came back out, the vehicle and the child were gone. Later in the week a suspect turned himself in to the police; confessing to them that he had stolen a sport-utility vehicle, strangled the infant that was in it, and then buried the child in the snow.
As you might imagine, the gristly incident was covered massively in the Chinese media. (There was huge public outcry as well, as evidenced by the vigil scene, above.) "Changchun baby abduction" was very quickly amongst the highest ranking search teams of the China's Weibo social media site - an equivalent of Twitter in the English-speaking world.
