Note that the car appears to be black and only on close inspection can you see that the color is a very dark shade of brown. Technically, I believe it’s brown with a black metallic. I looked up the paint code (VB2) and it's described as Kona Black Metallic.  I've included a close up pic to show what I mean. Beautiful unique color and absolutely stunning with the interior!

Below are items that are NEW in 2014 (NOT available in prior years)

  • 12.3 inch all digital instrument cluster (Like S550)
  • Heads up display on windshield
    • Speed
    • Cruise setting
    • Lane departure warning
    • Blind spot detection
    • Turn by turn navigation
  • Multi-View Camera System – Full 360 view
  • Adaptive cruise with full stop/start capability
  • BlueLink - Remote control, emergency and location from your phone!
  • 9.2 inch Navigation/Entertainment screens both rear seats
  • Navigation shown at any time in rear
  • Navigation input capability from rear
  • 3 Passenger capability in rear (middle flips up)
  • 3 Zone climate control with sync (driver, passenger, rear)
  • Improved A/C in seats
  • Completely rearranged driver controls (huge improvement)
  • Soft close doors front and rear
  • Streaming audio capability
  • Ability to store music on hard drive
  • Huge improvements in navigation controls (favorites, groups, etc.)
  • Improvements in voice commands
  • Seating and storage improvements

Those were just the NEW items added in 2014.  Other amenities not mentioned.  SOME are listed below:

  • Power reclining rear seats and headrests
  • Power tilt and telescopic wheel
  • Power sun shades in rear (both sides and rear) controllable from any seat
  • Heated and cooled front AND rear seats
  • More interior room than Mercedes S550
  • Adjustable air ride and sport transmission settings (super smooth)

Awesome heads up display. Pic included shows cruise set at 64, a car is detected in front and the unit has automatically slowed to 60.  There’s also a warning that someone is in your blind spot on the right.  Super nice!  You never need to take your eyes off the road.

Pic included showing the 360 camera view. I've only seen in the 2013 and newer A8L and the 2015 S550. You can see that I parked perfectly between the lines, that I’ve pulled up to a chain link fence and there are cars on both sides of me.  This will absolutely spoil you and save you from a ton of door dings!

This is my personal car, so the miles will be greater than advertised.

Hyundai Genesis V8 HTRAC may come with performance orientation

Mon, 20 Jan 2014

When the second-generation Hyundai Genesis arrives in dealers, customers looking for the new all-wheel-drive variant will need to settle for the 3.8-liter V6. This is no bad thing, as the V6 is a sound engine, but what if you want that brawny, 429-horsepower, 5.0-liter V8? For now, you're stuck spinning the rear wheels.
A report from AutoGuide, though, claims that the new HTRAC all-wheel-drive system could be mated up to the Genny Sedan's optional V8 engine at a later date, as part of a new performance version. According to spokesman Miles Johnson, a performance-minded Genesis, perhaps in the same vein as the first-generation R-Spec, is being looked at by the powers that be at Hyundai and that there "may be a market demand for such a model."
Whether it'd add on to the V8's 429 ponies, or simply shore up other parts of the car while adding the AWD system remains to be seen. Of course, if we hear any more on an AWD, V8-powered, performance version of the new Genesis Sedan, we'll be sure to let you know.

Hyundai brings 1,000-hp Genesis Coupe to SEMA, and plenty more [w/video]

Wed, 05 Nov 2014

Hyundai has a thirst for horsepower. How else could we explain the scene you see above, in which there exists a 708-horsepower front-wheel-drive Sonata tuned by Bisimoto (black and white, above left) powered by Hyundai's 2.4-liter Theta II engine? Or the little red number you see hiding in the background, which, at an even 1,000 horsepower, is "the most-powerful 2.0-liter Genesis Coupe ever built," says Hyundai?
In addition to those two powerhouses, the white Sonata (above right) was styled by John Pangilinan to "[connect] Los Angeles street art culture with automotive enthusiasts," whatever that means, and it joins an ARK Performance-tuned Genesis Sedan meant to go head-to-head with Mercedes AMG and BMW M and another Genesis Sedan tuned by Toca Marketing Group with a twin-turbo'd 5.0-liter Tau V8.
All in, that's five heavily modified vehicles being shown at the 2014 SEMA Show by Hyundai (not to mention any more customs not actually sponsored by the automaker itself), and each of them is pretty successful as far as we're concerned. Check them all out for yourself in the image gallery above, and read all the details in the press release below, where you'll also find a video of the builders discussing each of their creations.

Hyundai reveals more 2015 Genesis details

Thu, 24 Oct 2013

After we posted the renderings of the 2015 Hyundai Genesis last night, Hyundai issued a full press release revealing some of the details about its next-generation sedan. Set to make its debut at the Detroit Auto Show in a few months, the 2015 Genesis promises to bring a whole new level of styling and technology to the Korean automaker's portfolio.
Hyundai says that the design used on this car is part of its Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 language that we expect to slowly make its way across the entire lineup. Major styling changes include a taller, upright, single-frame grille (think Audi), larger headlights, sharper body lines and the swept-back, couple-like roofline. Except for spy shots, we still have no clue what the interior of the new Genesis will look like, but Hyundai says the sedan will be more intuitive for drivers to interact with. On the Genesis-foretelling HCD-14 Concept, this included a head-up display, as well as eye- and hand-gesture recognition.
For the drivetrain, Hyundai hasn't revealed much, except that the 2015 Genesis will get an all-new HTRAC all-wheel drive system. The sedan should also be better to drive, thanks to a more even weight balance, a stiffer chassis and Advanced Traction Cornering Control (ATCC) electronic suspension. Replacing the electro-hydraulic power steering system in the current model, the new Genesis will get a full-electric, rack-mounted power steering system. For more info on the upcoming 2015 Genesis sedan, check out the full press release posted below.
