Hyundai kicks off NFL sponsorship with 'D-Gate'

After a long summer, football season is finally back. Hyundai is ready for the snap as the National Football League's new automotive sponsor, and the company hopes its new ad campaign scores with fans. The company's first NFL spot is titled D-Gate and it's about a group of buddies with a Tucson at an Arizona Cardinals game hoping to get on the Jumbotron. One guy brings something from home that doesn't make his wife too happy, as you'll see in the clip. The 30-second commercial is premiering during the season-opening weekend. The automaker's second ad called Field Goal arrives on Sept. 24 and is about a dad who loves the Houston Texans but has to deal with his napping newborn. Hyundai promises even more football-oriented advertising coming throughout the year. Hyundai has a four-year agreement with the NFL as the league's automotive sponsor, and the deal includes events like the draft and providing vehicles for the Super Bowl. General Motors previously held the rights since 2001 and it reportedly cost the company over $150 million a year. Hyundai's New NFL Creative Hyundai's all-new Tucson SUV just recently hit dealers, and with its Hands-free Smart Liftgate with additional cargo space, is the perfect vehicle to help fans come game day. Hyundai's "D-Gate" 30-second spot, which will run during the season opener, is a fun take on some passionate Arizona Cardinals fans and their effort to create the ultimate symbol of support for their team.

Hyundai ix35/Tucson replacement comes into view

Last week, we showed you some leaked images of the Hyundai Intrado Concept, a vehicle set for debut at next week's Geneva Motor Show. We suspect that the Intrado will act as the inspiration for the next Hyundai Tucson, known elsewhere in the world as the ix35. Now, we can bring you the first images of that car undergoing testing.
There is quite a lot of cladding on this prototype, although we can make out a set of slim headlights that are similar in shape to the Intrado. The two cars also share a similar shape in the greenhouse, although obviously the prototype wears an extra set of doors behind the B-pillar.
Don't be fooled by the heavy cladding on the rear hatch, either, as it's just there to disrupt the look of the profile. It's fairly easy to spot where the roofline starts its dive down.

Redesigned 2019 Hyundai Tucson gets modest price bump

Hyundai says its refreshed 2019 Tucson is now hitting showrooms with a starting price of $24,245, including destination charge. That's a $700 bump up from the outgoing model, though Hyundai is currently offering a $2,500 discount on the 2018 model when purchased through Oct. 31, according to its retail website. For 2019, Hyundai gave the midsize Tucson crossover updates inside and out. There are redesigned front and rear fascias, including Hyundai's latest cascading grille, redesigned 17-, 18- and 19-inch wheels, and more advanced safety technology. All trim levels get Hyundai's SmartSense package, which includes forward collision-avoidance assist, lane-keeping assist and driver attention warning. Electronic parking brake with auto vehicle hold and a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration are standard across all trim levels as well. View 14 Photos The optional 1.6-liter turbo-four engine is gone, replaced by a naturally aspirated 2.4-liter that makes 181 horsepower and 175 pound-feet of torque for the higher SEL, Sport and Limited trims. The base SE and Value trim models get a 2.0-liter four-cylinder that makes 164 hp and 151 lb-ft. Both are mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. Inside, there are new designs for the center stack, cluster, panel vent and leather seats. The range tops out at $32,595 for the Limited with the Unlimited package in front-wheel-drive, or $33,995 for all-wheel-drive. The package adds features including pedestrian detection safety technology, high-beam assist, panoramic sunroof, ventilated front and heated rear seats and smart cruise control with stop and go.
