2016 Honda Civic colors and interiors leaked
Mon, Sep 28 2015UPDATE: Honda enthusiast forum Temple of VTEC also reported the 2016 Civic color information. We're just a short time away from our first test of the new Honda Civic, which should be when we get the full slate of details. We are, however, impatient and imagine that you are, too. That's why we're stoked about a discovery from 10thCivicForum.com, which shows the entire interior and exterior color slate, along with their specific combinations. There will be nine exterior paint colors, including some that fans of the current Civic will be familiar with. Taffeta White, White Orchid Pearl, Crystal Black Pearl, Modern Steel Metallic (shown above), are all carry overs from the current-gen four-door, while Rallye Red is an addition from the current two-door Civic. Other colors can be found on other products in the Honda catalog, including Lunar Silver Metallic from the Accord and Aegean Blue Metallic from the Fit. New shades include Cosmic Blue Metallic and Burgundy Night Pearl. Every color will be offered on every trim, except for Taffeta White, which is only offered on the basic 2.0-liter LX model. The interior colors are, of course, more predictable. You can choose from black, gray, or ivory. Exciting, we know. You can check out the entire color matrix, which breaks down which interior colors pair with which paints on the entire Civic range, over at 10thCivicForum.com. Check it out, and keep an eye out for our first drive of the latest Civic Sedan, coming soon.
Honda recalling 143K Civic, Fit models for CVT
Fri, Oct 2 2015Honda is recalling 143,676 examples of the 2014-2015 Civic and 2015 Fit for a problem with the way that its software controls the CVT. Currently, the system uses high hydraulic pressure in the transmission at times, which can put stress on the drive pulley shaft. Also, some of those parts "may have been produced at the low end of the hardness specification" during manufacturing, the automaker reports. When the two factors are combined over time, the high pressure could cause the shaft to break. If this happens, it would result in losing drive to the front wheels or in them locking up. According to documents submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (as a PDF), Honda received the first report of a shaft breaking in July 2014 in the US, and there was a wheel lockup in Canada in January 2015. As of September 3, there were 23 warranty claims about this issue but no reported injuries. The fix will be an update to the CVT's software, and the recall will begin October 16, according to NHTSA. Honda is urging owners to get their vehicles repaired as soon as they receive the notification. Honda will voluntarily recall approximately 143,000 model-year 2014-2015 Civic and 2015 Fit vehicles in the United States to update the software that manages the continuously variable transmission (CVT), free of charge. Affected vehicles have CVT control software that is written to use high hydraulic pressure during certain CVT operation modes, which as a result may subject the drive pulley shaft to high stress. In addition, during manufacturing of the drive pulley shaft, some parts may have been produced at the low end of the hardness specification. If shafts with lower hardness are repeatedly subjected to the specific high hydraulic pressure modes, it may result in the shaft breaking during operation. If the drive pulley shaft breaks, the vehicle may lose acceleration or the front wheels may lock up while driving, increasing the risk of a crash. No crashes or injuries have been reported related to this issue, which was discovered through the warranty claim process in the United States. Honda is announcing this recall to encourage each owner of an affected vehicle to take it to an authorized dealer as soon as they receive notification of this recall from Honda.
Honda Civic Tourer to debut at Frankfurt
Wed, 07 Aug 2013Honda will be bringing its new Civic Tourer to next month's Frankfurt Motor Show, just as we predicted in our spy shots of the new MPV from back in April. The new model, which will arrive in European dealers in 2014, will be built alongside Honda's Euro-spec Civic hatchback, Jazz (Honda Fit) and CR-V in Swindon, Wiltshire, UK.
Honda first hinted at the Civic Tourer with a concept at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, which is set to do battle with the Toyota Auris and Volkswagen Golf in the European market. The production Civic Tourer will also be shown alongside a refreshed Civic hatchback, yet another NSX Concept variant, a McLaren MP4/4 Formula One car, and Honda's World Touring Car Championship Civic.
