The condition of the exterior, interior and engine can vary depending on the vehicle's history. See the seller's listing for full details and description of any imperfections.Seller Notes:""The van shows normal wear and tear for its age. It has a dent on the passenger side sliding door. Please examine pictures because what you see is what you get. The hood has a few rock chips in it. There is a small rust spot in the plate area of the hatch and some minor rust around the rear right wheel well. Also if you look at the front windshield there is a crack that runs across the bottom but there is no leaking (See pictures). It was purchased this way several years ago and it has been fine. A new front windshield can be installed for around $200 if you do your homework. The transmission needs replacement or work (See description of issue below) and new front brake rotors, pads, wheel bearings. The passenger side sliding door handle needs to be installed. If you are a mechanic this may be your lucky day.""

2000 Honda Odyssey LX. No reserve. Transmission needs work. The van is in Mt. Pleasant Michigan. Buyer must make arrangements for pickup and transportation of the vehicle. Please make arrangements through me if you wish to see the car. The vehicle is at my parents' house.
I am selling my 2000 Honda Odyssey LX to the highest bidder. I purchased the van from the original owner. The odometer reads 131,700. I used the vehicle for freeway driving between Michigan and Ohio. It has 17 inch wheels and tires with 10,000 miles on tires. I also installed a new stereo just prior to moving. USB inputs and a CD player are included.
When I moved out of Michigan 10 months ago the van was put in storage.
Routine maintenance is all up to date. When my father went to start the van it started without any hesitation. Proper procedures were followed to protect the engine while vehicle was in storage.
The front rotors, pads and bearings need replacing. The replacement of bearings and brakes can be performed at the same time which will reduce labor costs if you plan to have the work done by someone else.
Also the driver's side exterior sliding door needs replacing (See picture). This requires removal of the inside sliding door panel. I replaced the passenger side one about a year ago and it took less than 30 minutes. A new door handle will be included with van.

I had planned to do this work myself and will include the following new parts with van purchase:
1. Two new front wheel bearings,
2. New pads and rotors for front wheels.
3. New rear driver's side sliding exterior door handle
The van shows normal wear and tear for its age. It has a dent on the passenger side sliding door. Please examine pictures closely. What you see is what you get. These pictures were taken yesterday. The hood has a few rock chips in it. Also if you look at the front windshield there is a crack that runs across the bottom. It does not obstruct the line of sight and does not leak. This occured several years ago and it has been fine. A new front windshield can be purchased and installed for around $200 if you do your homework.
The transmission fluid has been changed 4 times or every 15000 miles since I purchased the vehicle. At approximately 120000 the transmission began to "bang" when put in drive. Through my investigation on the internet I learned this is a common problem for the Honda Odyssey. I assumed I would eventually be replacing the transmission but because this was not the vehicle I used for daily commuting, I planned to drive it until the transmission died. I mainly used the vehicle for freeway trips and had been manually shifting the gears to reduce the severity of the "bang." Once on the freeway I would leave it in overdrive.
If there is a transmission expert out there it may be a simple fix, but with all the information on line regarding Honda Odyssey transmissions it seems that replacement is the only sure way to take care of the transmission issue. There are two very highly rated transmission shops listed on ebay who charge around $1200 for a warrantied rebuilt transmission. I had planned to do the work myself but that day never came as it still can be driven the way I described above. My current transmission never overheated that I am aware of, and the van has not been used to tow a trailer. It is recommended that when replaced, an external transmission filter and a transmission cooler be installed. These can be purchased for under $50 each.
If you have any questions please feel free to ask prior to auction end. Thanks for looking.

2015 Acura NSX burns to the ground at the 'Ring [w/video]

Thu, Jul 24 2014

Assuming all goes to plan, automakers test their vehicles to the breaking point in the months and years leading up to that vehicle's actual release into the public. Which is good, because it's much better for a car to break in glorious fashion in the hands of the company that produces it than in the driveway of an owner who just spent their hard-earned cash to get it. Such was the case with this production-guise Acura NSX prototype that we saw running around the Nurburgring just the other day. We can't be 100-percent certain, but the burned-out carcass is wearing the same number plate as the car that was spotted earlier, so it's likely the very same NSX. We have no idea what was the cause of the blaze that turned this Acura into the car-b-q you see pictured above, but our spy shooters on the ground in Germany say it was not involved in any collision, having caught on fire all on its own with engineers behind the wheel. The good news is that nobody was hurt, though the car is quite clearly a complete loss. We're sure there's another ready to to test in the burned car's place... just as soon as the engineers at Honda figure out exactly what went wrong. Have a look at the smoldering aftermath up above, and feel free to scroll down below to see a video of the car in much better circumstances.

The Honda CR-Z is on the way out, at least in Japan

Fri, Jun 10 2016

The poor CR-Z, misbegotten and subsequently ignored by both customers and critics. Sales have been a trickle for years, and despite a few half-hearted attempts to kick-start interest it's clear the CR-Z lacks the goods. We've been thinking about its imminent demise for years, and it's already dead in Europe and Australia. Now, the CR-Z's lackluster run is ending in Japan. Inexplicably, that'll make the US one of the last bastions of CR-Z sales in the world. The 1.5-liter engine and electric motor make a combined 130 hp and 140 lb-ft of torque in manual-transmission trim. Yes, a manual transmission hybrid. Quite a unicorn, but don't get too excited. It won't blow your socks off, as we found out in our first drive. And the CVT model, with less power, is predictably less thrilling. Like most final edition packages, the Japan-only CR-Z Final Label gets cosmetic changes, like special edition badging, unique alloy wheels, "Final Label" logos embroidered on the seats, and equipment from the higher trim levels. The attention makes sense in Japan, where collectible special edition cars are highly sought after. It seems unlikely that Honda will bother with anything more exciting than a fire-sale promotion in the US, although we've asked the company what its plans for CR-Z in North America are and will report on what they tell us. 2016 Honda Pilot First Drive [w/video]

Wed, May 20 2015

For all it had going for it, the second-generation Honda Pilot was stung by one undeniable fact: it looked like a big, boxy SUV at a time when consumer favor was shifting towards car-based crossovers. For 2016, though, Honda is offering a third-generation Pilot that not only does away with the old model's brutalist looks, but also adopts bleeding-edge safety technology and fuel-efficient powertrains. The Pilot's new styling still doesn't really work, to our eyes. That's not because of the CR-V-inspired headlights or Accord-derived grille. It's not even because of the horizontally oriented, reshaped taillights. The biggest problem with the Pilot is its profile. The hood is an inch lower for 2016, and the CUV is 3.5 inches longer than its predecessor with an extra inch ahead of the front axle. Simply put, the proportions are out of whack. The hood is too short, the passenger compartment too large, and the beltline too low. It's little wonder then that both Autoblog staffers and readers have pointed out the 2016 Pilot's minivan-like resemblance. Changes underneath the Pilot's sheetmetal are just as drastic. Honda incorporated a mix of high-strength steel, aluminum, and even magnesium to create the CUV's new bones. Taken as a whole, our top-of-the-line Elite tester is 286 pounds lighter than the previous model, while being 25 percent more rigid overall. Aside from some penny pinching in the cabin – the hard plastic on the top of the rear door panels is particularly egregious – the Pilot's interior is home to soft-touch plastics, quality leather, and handsome piano black accents. Front passengers are treated to broad, comfortable, power seats, complete with heating and ventilation (depending on trim). What they lack in outright support through the turns, they make up for in long-haul comfort. Honda will continue to sell the Pilot with seating for eight, but for the very first time, it's also offering a pair of captain's chairs in place of the second-row bench. Either setup is comfortable, though the seven-passenger layout allows easier access to the third row. As for the way-back, it can accommodate two kids or two adults in a pinch, but we aren't sure how Honda thinks three humans of any size will fit back there. Happily, Honda ditched the two-screen center stack setup found elsewhere in its model range. The Pilot's ample eight-inch display (standard on the Touring and Elite trims) has menus that are easy to manage.
