2001 Honda Insight Base Hatchback 3-door 1.0l Location Hawaii Oahu North Shore on 2040-cars
Haleiwa, Hawaii, United States
2001 Honda Hybrid Insight.
I am the third owner. I purchased from a local teacher and she purchased from a local teacher who purchased it from the Honda dealership new. I absolutely love this car! I am selling it because it needs to be driven and I am not driving it enough. The IMA battery (the electric battery) was replaced on 7/19/12 for the second time. The new battery is waranteed by the Honda dealership for three years from the time of installation. All servicing while I have owned the vehicle has been done by the Honda Tony dealership in Waipahu. The first time the battery was replaced they said I wasn't driving the car enough. I have only driven this car 5,510 miles in 16 months. It needs to be driven much more than I do to keep the IMA battery in shape. This also happened the second time it was replaced. So, I am selling it because this car needs to be owned by someone who will drive it. PERFECT commuter car. It gets up to 70mpg! Aluminum body won't rust in the tropical humidity! These cars were produced to be driven on the freeways as commuter cars. The gas mileage is phenomenal on this vehicle. You will be very happy. This vehicle has been in one minor collision. I was on my way to hula practice and some little old lady bumped into the back. The insurance fixed to new status. There is a scrape and please view the photos on the front driver's side quarter panel. This was done when it was parked while I was surfing here on the North Shore. Only cosmetic as the most important aspects are the IMA battery which is basically new and also the impeccable servicing which was all done at the dealership. Extras include WET OKOLE custom car neoprene seat covers (see photos) and also custom window tinting on all windows except of course the front windshield. Driver's side window has some minor issues when trying to raise it. It raises but slowly sometimes. Car is VERY clean inside and out. I take very good care of my cars. I am NOT a smoker and never allowed any smokers in the car. I also know this to be true with the first two owners as well. I do own a yellow lab and he rode with me infrequently in the car. I do keep it vacuumed and clean carpets frequently. Please contact me with any other questions you might have. I am NOT a dealer, so I am representing this vehicle as honestly and fairly as possible. She is a great little car and gets the WOW factor when you drive her around the island. She looks like a little space capsule ! If you want attention while driving it, you will get it with this car. I get stares while driving all the time. I just wave and honk! Aloha and thank you for looking at this listing. |

Honda, GM fuel-cell partnership wants to reduce hydrogen refueling costs
Thu, Feb 27 2014To paraphrase the old political adage, it's the cost, stupid. Dollar signs are what's prompting Honda and General Motors to partner up to accelerate development of a hydrogen fuel cell system. With about half the cost of a fuel-cell system tied up in its fuel-cell stack, GM and Honda are looking to help each other drive costs down, according to a presentation by GM fuel cell research and development director Mark Mathias said in a presentation at the SAE 2014 Hybrid & Electric Vehicle Technologies Symposium. According to Green Car Congress, Honda and GM are looking to reap the fruits of their collective labor by 2020. As with other automakers, the high cost of producing fuel-cell vehicles is the fly in the ointment of a powertrain technology that combines the same range as gas-powered vehicles but with zero emissions. In the meantime, Honda, which makes the very limited production FCX Clarity fuel-cell vehicle, is slated to start selling its own mass-market fuel-cell vehicle in 2015. The two automakers made their partnership announcement last summer and said they contribute to expanding hydrogen fuel infrastructure in California during the next few years. Earlier, Ford, Mercedes-Benz parent Daimler and Nissan also said they would work together to speed up fuel-cell technology development.

2015 Civic Type R will make 'at least' 276 hp from 2.0L turbo [w/video]
Tue, 10 Sep 2013Honda may not actually be showing off the production form of its upcoming Euro-only 2015 Civic Type R at the Frankfurt Motor Show this year, but it did take advantage of the focused media attention to make a pretty cool announcement. In addition to dropping a really hot video of the new Type R testing at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, Honda Europe president, Manabu Nishimae, gifted us with some juicy details about the coming hot hatch.
Nishimae confirmed rumors that this Type R would make use of a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine, while telling us that the mill would be good for an output of "at least 280 PS." A raw conversion from PS (metric horsepower) to standard horsepower gives us a figure of about 276 hp, or very near the rumored figure of 300 galloping, front-wheeled ponies.
The company will need each ounce of output from its new 2.0-liter engine if it is to meet its stated performance target: making the Civic Type R the fastest front-wheel-drive production car around the 'Ring. Apparently this last session of testing, with World Touring Car Championship driver Gabriele Tarquini at the wheel, has already gotten Honda close to the lap record. Scroll down to read Honda's brief press release about the upcoming Type R, and, more importantly, to listen to the car as it's throttled around the track.
