2000 Honda Insight Hybrid 5 Speed Manual on 2040-cars
Seward, Alaska, United States
You are looking at a 2000 Honda Insight Hybrid in excellent mechanical
condition. I purchased this vehicle in August of 2012 with 145,000
miles. The original owner drove it until 2011 and kept all maintenance
records since it was brand new. I purchased this vehicle from my dad
who typically owns two or three of these at a time; he was the second
owner. He had a new clutch put in during the short time that he owned
it. Throughout the two years that I've owned it, the only repair I've
had done is a brand new radiator, which was installed about six months
ago. I have also kept all maintenance records since I started driving
it.
I have absolutely no complaints about this vehicle. I did not intend to keep it as long as I did. But it was hard to get rid of a vehicle that gets 50 to 65 MPG. The worst city mileage I've gotten is 45. That was because I was using studded winter tires at the time. The best highway mileage I've gotten is 73 while using low rolling resistance tires. The mileage shown next to the odometer (53.3), is the lifetime mileage since the vehicle was brand new. Another unique thing about this car is its aluminum body panels. Overall, the vehicle is in good condition inside and out. The exterior shows typical wear for a vehicle of its age. The only major cosmetic issue is the weather stripping on the driver's side door. This only seems to be happening on the driver's side; the passenger side shows no evidence of wear at all. There are no rips or tears in the fabric. The interior dash and door panels are in great shape as well. Now that I am living in Alaska, I have decided to upgrade to a 4-wheel drive vehicle. I've considered keeping this as a summer vehicle, but I would prefer not to pay for insurance and maintenance on two vehicles. If you do not know much about these cars or hybrids in general, I would encourage you to do a bit of research. A good resource to check out is insightcentral.net. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. 907-491-1557. Due to the fact that I do not have any transactions in my feedback history, I will not require a deposit. Thanks for looking. On Aug-28-14 at 12:42:53 PDT, seller added the following information: There are a few other things I would like to mention: -The hybrid battery is performing perfectly. I have never had any issues with the battery charging or holding its charge. And it always seems to provide enough additional horsepower to get around with ease. The only person I wouldn't recommend this vehicle to is someone who is continuously driving through the mountains. It tends to struggle going up steep hills but downshifting has always helped here. I've also noticed that the fuel economy is not as great while driving through mountains. -All four tires were installed 9,000 miles ago. ***If you win the auction and decide you do not want the vehicle after seeing it in person and driving it, I will NOT require you to go through with the purchase. No negative feedback will be left. I will either relist it or offer it to the next highest bidder.*** |

Honda Accord, Civic are America's most stolen cars
Tue, 20 Aug 2013The National Insurance Crime Bureau has released its latest Hot Wheels study on the most popular stolen cars and trucks for 2012. The study has changed a bit from past years, with the new findings listing only the make and model of each vehicle, while taking into account all model years in its totals. Previous iterations only focused on the most stolen vehicles of a particular model year, with that make and model not appearing anywhere else on the list so as not to appear to call out a particular car. Confusing, eh? Said another way, in previous studies, if the three most stolen vehicles were the 2006, 2007 and 2008 Belchfire Turbo from Fictitious Motors, only the model year with the highest number of thefts would make the list.
The new study takes all model years into consideration while breaking down the number of vehicles stolen per model year in a full, in-depth report. Separately, the NICB is also listing the top 25 new vehicles stolen in 2012. That list is limited exclusively to model year 2012 entries.
Honda took the top two spots in the most stolen vehicles list, with 58,596 Accord models stolen and 47,037 Civic models stolen. The study is interesting, though, in that the most recent model year for the Accord is 1997, while the most recent the Civic is 2000. In fact, Hondas from 1990 to 2000 make up 16 of the top 20 cars stolen in 2012, according to the NICB. Compare that with the MY2012 list, where Honda's vehicles are eleventh and fifteenth, and it looks like the Japanese brand has been beefing up its theft control.
'Trouble-free day! No joke': Honda-powered Toro Rosso F1 car debuts
Thu, Feb 22 2018LONDON — Honda's Formula One partnership with the Toro Rosso team got off to a positive start on Wednesday with a seemingly smooth track debut of their new car on a limited mileage filming day in Italy. "Trouble-free day!! No joke," commented French driver Pierre Gasly on Twitter. New Zealander Brendon Hartley, who was at the wheel of the TR13 car at the wet Misano circuit, reported on Instagram that "the new girl ran super smooth." This content is hosted by a third party. Honda is starting over with the Red Bull-owned team this season after three seasons of failure with former champions McLaren left the Japanese engine manufacturer's reputation in tatters. A behind-the-scenes documentary, "Grand Prix Driver," released on Amazon recently shone a spotlight on the tension between McLaren and Honda that eventually led to the relationship tearing apart. It also revealed how the troubles had started before the launch of the car and were fully exposed once testing in Barcelona started when the car broke down repeatedly due to engine failures. McLaren, who finished ninth out of the 10 teams last season, is now using Renault engines and hoping to be far more competitive. How Toro Rosso, and McLaren, fare this season will be among the intriguing sub-plots to the 21-race season that starts in Australia on March 25, with Mercedes and Ferrari again expected to be the frontrunners. Italy-based Toro Rosso, one of the smaller outfits on the starting grid, has taken the cynicism and gloom-mongering about its prospects in good heart. It put out a tongue-in-cheek Q&A at the time of the first engine fire-up that included the questions: "Did it take like six attempts to fire up?", "Did the engine blow up?" and "Did your factory catch fire after the engine started?" The respective answers were "Nope, the engine fired up on the first attempt," "Quite the opposite, it started just as planned" and "Our factory is perfectly fine, thanks for the concern." The final 'question' was simply, "Good luck, you'll need it." Reporting by Alan BaldwinRelated Video: Motorsports Honda McLaren Racing Vehicles F1 toro rosso
