2011 Honda Element Ex Sport Utility 4-door 2.4l Plus Many Upgrades!! on 2040-cars
Seaside, California, United States
What we have here is my 2011 Honda Element. I have to be honest, I don't want to sell her, but a transfer to Japan is pretty much forcing my hand. A couple dealer installed options I want to point out, are the roof rack and trailer hitch/towing package. I have taken great care of this care it's entire life. She's been dealer maintained and I have all the service receipts to prove it. Also, she's due for service, so before the new owner picks her up, I'm going to get her serviced so you'll be good to go until the next service interval. (Yes, I'll have the dealer receipt to prove it!)
YOU WILL NOT FIND ANOTHER ELEMENT LIKE THIS ONE!!!! The particular Element is sporting 6000K Xenon headlights, both hi and low beam. I upgraded the sound system to ensure I had bluetooth connectivity and hands free calling. Of course, when I upgraded the head unit, I also upgraded everything else...the stock system is a 300 Watt 7 speaker system...pathetic. Now, this particular Element is sporting a 9 speaker 1100 Watt stereo. All the speakers are Alpine except the subwoofer are alpine, the amplifier is an Alpine 5 channel unit, and the subwoofer is made by Polk audio...no expense was spared, and yes, the speaker wires were upgraded as well to handle all the extra juice! I can honestly say I prefer the clarity and depth of sound from this system over the Harmon Kardon system in my wife's Land Rover. (She won't admit it, but she does too!) For those of you worried about huge speaker boxes being everywhere, don't, all speakers are mounted in their stock locations. The subwoofer was upgraded from 6" to 8" within the stock unit's enclosure, and the rear door speakers gained a set of component tweeters installed flush in the door instead of plain speakers. The result is wonderful sound throughout the entire vehicle, bluetooth hands free integration for phone calls, streaming audio, and google maps integration. Also, to ensure I had 100% stock functionality, I added the sirius/xm radio interface to the radio, as well as the steering wheel control interface. So, sit back, leave your hands on the wheel because even though the system is aftermarket, all the stock controls work exactly how their supposed to!! This car is the best all around vehicle you'll ever own, hands down! Not only has it been declared the best pet vehicle ever, but it's heavy duty flooring and seat materials make it easy to clean for those of us with kids! Take it to the beach with the kids and the dogs...it's got the heavy duty rubber floor mats, and the Honda neoprene rear seat covers! It's got the roof rail system as well so you can strap your surfboards...bikes..kayaks, or whatever you want to the roof and hit the road! I've taken it camping more times than I can count, and it's absolutely amazing how much stuff you can fit, and worst case if you get to your site and it's raining, the seats all fold down into one another to form to beds inside the car. So there's no surprises when you come to drive your new car home, the car does have one small blemish on it. Someone kissed the driver's side rear fender when they were pulling into or out of a parking place next to me. I've included a picture of the spot, and I was quoted $250 by a highly reputable shop for a bumper re-spray to get it fixed as it is ONLY paint damage, nothing else...I just haven't had the time to get to it. Like I said at the beginning, this is my car, and I love it to death and wish I didn't have to sell it. I've upgraded it how I've wanted it, and have...or should I say had even bigger plans that what's already on there. I know she'll make anyone a great vehicle, whether you're a large family, or just someone who likes to hit the beach by themselves after work. Don't let this one slip by, 2011 is the last year Honda made these, and given the fact that the Honda dealership calls me at least twice a month asking if they can buy it back from me, these are becoming harder to find every day! Feel free to email, or call (Chris: 757-513-7776) if you have any other specific questions I didn't answer here! Good luck, and don't wait to make this special car yours! |

Honda Accord Hybrid falls well short of 47 mpg, says Consumer Reports [w/video]
Thu, 29 May 2014Do not poke Consumer Reports with the hybrid fuel economy stick. That seems to be the lesson illustrated here yet again. The Honda Accord Hybrid is the latest to arouse the ratings bear, returning "just" 40 combined mpg in CR testing. Even so, that makes it "a class leader for fuel economy among midsized sedans," besting even the Civic Hybrid in CR testing, but that's still a lucky roll of the dice short of its EPA rating of 47 mpg. Remember, it was back in December 2012 that CR knocked the Ford Fusion and C-Max hybrid models for the exact same failing: certified with an EPA-rated 47 mpg but delivering "just" 40 mpg.
Beyond that, while the Accord Hybrid earned a lower overall score than the traditional gasoline Accord because of its ride, handling and refinement issues, it gets unqualified applause from the institute for its "very impressive hybrid system."
It will be interesting to see if CR's findings will negatively impact the model's sales, which to this point have been impressive enough that demand is outstripping supply. In the meantime, you can check out CR's brief video review of the Accord Hybrid below, and check out the magazine's press release chiding its mpg rating.
Sporty cars from the '80s get retro reviews from MotorWeek
Tue, Mar 10 2015The more things change, the more they stay the same. That's the feeling we're left with after watching the retro-review video above, in which MotorWeek – television's original automotive magazine, as if you didn't already know – takes a look at the 1984 Honda Prelude. A sporty coupe from Japan that lacks the outright performance and thrust of comparable American and European competitors, but makes any perceived slight up with unarguably supreme driving dynamics? That sounds sort of familiar, doesn't it? As always, we love taking a look back at the early days of MotorWeek (the more things change, they more they stay the same, remember?). And it doesn't end there. Far from it, in fact. Not only did MotorWeek bestow upon us the Prelude, Maryland's favorite public television show also unleashed retro reviews of (deep breath) the '82 Fiat X1/9, '84 Olds Cutlass, '88 Lotus Esprit Turbo, '84 Nissan 200SX Turbo, '88 Subaru XT6, '88 Toyota Celica All Trac, '84 Ford EXP Turbo, '89 Suzuki Swift GTi and '89 Mazda 323 GTX. Watch them all, up above and down below. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. This content is hosted by a third party. Five automakers now being investigated by NHTSA for airbag woes
Thu, 12 Jun 2014It appears that Toyota's renotification to owners of recalled vehicles from last year is just the tip of the iceberg for what could potentially be a much larger industry-wide recall. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is opening a preliminary evaluation investigation into roughly 1.1 million vehicles from Chrysler, Honda, Mazda, Nissan, Toyota and parts supplier Takata regarding faulty airbag inflators in several models.
NHTSA has received six reports - three directly, two from Takata and one from Toyota - of vehicles with ruptured airbag inflators from 2002-2006, which resulted in three injuries. So far, all six incidents have occurred in high humidity areas like Florida and Puerto Rico. According to Toyota's latest recall announcement, the inflators may have an improper propellant that could cause it to rupture in a crash and the bag to deploy abnormally.
This new investigation follows a previous recall from April 2013 of about 3.4 million vehicles worldwide for the airbag inflators from Takata. As Autoblog reported, Toyota jumpstarted the new situation when it found that the original list of serial numbers for the faulty part was incomplete and discovered more cars in need of replacement. Honda and Nissan told us that they were investigating whether further models would need called in again as well. Mazda told Autoblog: "Regarding the current Takata situation, we're working closely with NHTSA and investigating the situation, but nothing else to report at this time." Chrysler Group responded to us with the statement: "Chrysler Group engineers are conducting the appropriate analysis. The Company will cooperate fully with the National Highway Traffic Administration."
