IndyCars parade across Golden Gate Bridge for Justin Wilson [w/video]
Fri, Aug 28 2015Seeing IndyCars driving on public roads is a rare treat, especially on an iconic landmark like the Golden Gate Bridge. Unfortunately, the exciting sight came on a very somber occasion. On August 27, a parade of five racecars sped across the famous span in large part to memorialize fellow driver Justin Wilson. In an incredibly touching scene, teammate Marco Andretti led the pack, and he was behind the wheel of Wilson's number 25 Andretti Autosport Honda. "It was an honor to drive Justin's car. It was emotional for sure," Andretti said to the IndyCar Series. Behind him were Graham Rahal, Will Power, and Josef Newgarden. James Hinchcliffe was in a two-seater IndyCar to deliver the Aston Cup to the season finale at Sonoma Raceway. Two safety vehicles were also part of the procession, and they were flying Justin Wilson flags. Wilson passed away earlier this week after being struck in the head by a carbon-fiber nosecone from a crash ahead of him during the ABC Supply 500 at Pocono Raceway. Since then there has been an outpouring of support from the motorsport world for the 37-year-old racer's family. You can watch a clip of the driver's crossing the Bridge, below. Honda recalling 871,000 SUVs and minivans over rollaway fear
Wed, 12 Dec 2012Honda is recalling 871,000 SUVs and minivans for an issue in which the vehicles may roll away after the key has been removed from the ignition. Ninety-two percent of the recalled vehicles, or 807,000 vehicles, are in the US. According to a report from Reuters, the effected vehicles include certain numbers of the Honda Odyssey and Pilot, as well as the Acura MDX. Here are the recall figures:
2003-2004 Honda Odyssey: 318,000 vehicles
2003-2004 Honda Pilot: 259,000 vehicles
Mom Accidentally Steals Honda In Brooklyn
Thu, Apr 17 2014The owner of a 1993 Honda Accord that was accidentally stolen by a young Brooklyn woman's mother has the car back in her possession, after amusing posters popped up all over town. Cheryl Thorpe traveled to New York from her home in Houston to watch her daughter's dog while she and her roommates went on vacation, according to New York Magazine. Thorpe was also left the task of moving the three girls' cars to legal parking spots on a street-cleaning day. She dutifully moved the Fiat, Honda CR-V and Accord, but when the trio returned from their vacation something was wrong. The owner of the Accord found her car right where she left it, thankfully free of parking tickets. The Accord Thorpe had moved belonged to someone else. As it turns out, some older Hondas have interchangeable keys. Thorpe was able to use the girl's keys to move Emily Hickert's car while she ate brunch. Hickert spent an entire week thinking a professional car thief had made off with her 21-year-old ride. "In less than 40 seconds she gets in the car and goes," Hickert told The New York Post, after reviewing security footage from a nearby business. "I thought she was a professional." Hickert filed a police report, while Thorpe's daughter posted fliers all over Brooklyn looking for the Accord's owner. Hickert was eventually reunited with her Honda, which had been towed after sitting parked on the street. She says she bears no ill will towards the women involved in the mix up. "I'm not upset with her," Hickert told The Post. "I'm glad it wasn't a thief. I just didn't know why anyone would steal a 1993 Honda."
