Up for sale is a 2005 honda civic hybrid. The car has a salvage title (water damage). I purchased the car at a auction. I really dont know much about it, this is what i do know. The car does not start, the battery under the hood is no good and the ignition key does not lock or unlock the car doors or trunk. It appears that the ignition switch has been replaced. I am unable to get into the trunk. The mileage is unknown. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. Payment is to be recieved no later than 48 hours. The outside of the car looks to be in pretty good shape as well as the inside. The reason iam selling the car is because my job is relocating me and i have to get rid of this car and a couple others. Xcar samples the new Honda Civic Type R
Mon, Jun 8 2015Honda is in the midst of launching the long-awaited new Civic Type R into an increasingly competitive hot-hatch market – in Europe, at least – and naturally had the good sense to invite Xcar to come and drive it. After a lengthy gestation period, Honda finally unveiled the new Type R at the Geneva Motor Show just a few months ago, driving 306 horsepower to the front wheels through an old-school six-speed manual transmission. That's more muscle than you'd get in just about any front-drive hot hatch to date, including the Volkswagen GTI, Seat Leon Cupra, and Renaultsport Megane 275 - not to mention some all-wheel drive machinery like the VW Golf R and Subaru WRX STI (if only by a nose). All of that adds up to a recipe for one heck of a ride if we've ever seen one, and we'll have our own impressions on how it drives soon enough. Boston woman's car finally free from 100 inches of snow
Thu, Mar 19 2015It's a car owner's worst winter nightmare: Snowfall so heavy that you can't dig your vehicle out of it. That's exactly what happened to Jillian Tenen, whose 2007 Honda Civic was buried in the snow in Boston for seven weeks after historic winter storms. Tenen's car was initially stuck after a snowfall in late January, but she didn't dig it out because she had the flu. "I'm 5' 2," and it was all ice, an iceberg on top of my car," she told the Boston Globe. "I couldn't reach it. I couldn't lift it. And even if I could, there was nowhere to put it. I just didn't know what to do," she said. Tenen reached out for help to the city, her insurance company and a tow truck company, but they refused to help her. Finally when the weather warmed up, Tenen used an ice chopper to get into her car. The windshield was damaged, however, the car started on its own. "If I had to do it again, I would definitely do one thing differently... I would not park on the corner," Tenen said.
Honda patents engine with different cylinder displacements
Mon, May 9 2016A basic rule of engine design states that the displacement of a cylinder is equal to the engine's total displacement divided by its cylinder count. Honda, according to a recently surfaced Japanese patent, is looking to break that rule with an engine containing cylinders of different sizes. We've done our best to translate it from patent-ese. The idea is that different-sized combustion chambers give more flexibility when any combination of cylinders are deactivated, or rested. Because the different numbers can be combined in various ways, it provides more and smaller increments than would an engine with equal-displacement cylinders. Take a 2.0-liter four-cylinder, for example. Following the golden displacement rule, each of the four cylinders has a volume of 500 cc, giving displacement increments of 500 cc when any cylinder is deactivated. But suppose instead that the four cylinders displace 300, 425, 600, and 675 cc, respectively. This would give the engine 15 available displacements instead of just four, and the spacing between each option would be far less than 500cc. As a result, those different virtual displacements would provide more adjustment between power and efficiency than a cylinder-deactivation system can on a conventional engine. Honda's patent describes cylinders with equal bore size, with the displacement from cylinder to cylinder varying based on the crank throw radius – the longer the throw, the longer the stroke and the larger the displacement of that particular combustion chamber. The patent describes how the cylinder sizes would need to be arranged to spread the load on the crankshaft and presumably limit vibration that would be introduced by the different pulse magnitudes. If we're interpreting things correctly, the largest cylinder (the one with the longest crank throw radius) sits in the middle of the bank with the smaller ones alternating on either side as they decrease in displacement. This concept is described for multi-cylinder inline and V-type engines of various sizes. The patent was filed in March of 2014 and published in January of this year. Whether or not this arrangement will reach production is of course unknown, but the advantages in terms of both efficiency and power seem promising.
