1988 Honda Crx Hf on 2040-cars
Christiansburg, Virginia, United States
Nice 1988 CRX-HF. Runs great and gets 40+ mpg driving around town and even better on highway. We purchased the car from a man who buys cars and fixes them up to sell. He had found this CRX at the original owner's estate sale where it had been kept in storage for over 10 years. That is why the mileage is low. He put new upholstery, stero, and tires and kept it for a while because he said it was fun to drive and good on gas mileage. He was right on both counts. This car is fun to drive and it seems to run forever on a tank of gas. A/C works and the tires have about 15,000 miles on them. New clutch in May last year. New battery 6 months ago. Recent VA state inspection for view in pictures. We took it to Merchant's Tire, part of the national retail group TBC because, at least in this area, they are known for finding every little thng they can charge you for at your annual inspection. The only thing they had to do was replace a signal light bulb, adjust one headlight, and remove 2 fog lights from the front they said were not okay in Virginia. The hatch does not leak but there is some rust beginning on the rear fenders. We don't know much about cars so the best thing to do is email with your questions. We will post them with answers if and when they are asked. The engine information required by Ebay was found online as the standard for a 1988 CRX-HF. This is my son's CRX and he recently bought a new car so we are selling this one. The car is in good shape. He just wanted something a little bigger. We can pick a buyer up at Roanoke Regional Airport or local bus station. We are also willing to meet for the cost of gas and a small fee if buyer is less than 6 hours away. This is a used car. We have done our best to describe it and provide pictures and will answer any questions you have. There is no warranty with the car. Tags do not go with car. A $200.00 non-refundable deposit is required through PayPal at auction end. We will hold the car for 7 days and can hold it longer but full payment will be due. Cashier's Check or Cash only. |

Takata, Honda sued in Florida over death of pregnant Malaysian women
Mon, May 4 2015The Takata recall debacle keeps spiraling as the father of a pregnant woman killed in Malaysia allegedly due to the malfunctioning airbag has filed suit against both the equipment manufacturer and Honda in a court in Florida. The case reportedly revolves around one Law Suk Leh, 42, who was driving her 2003 Honda City on Borneo Island in Malaysia this past July. She was driving at about 20 miles per hour when her car was struck by another. Her airbag deployed with inordinate force, metal shrapnel sliced her neck and she died in the ambulance en route to the local hospital. The baby she was carrying was delivered after the mother's death, but died three days later. Now her father, Law Ngee Chiong, is suing the airbag manufacturer and the automaker on behalf of the estates of his late daughter and granddaughter in a US federal court in Miami. The suit was reportedly filed in the United States because the faulty inflator is made in LaGrange, GA. US District Judge Federico Moreno is currently evaluating about two dozen such personal-injury and death cases, including the one in question, for pretrial rulings and evidence-gathering. Leh's case is one of six deaths blamed on the defective Takata airbags, which have caused automakers and government regulators to recall an estimated 24 million vehicles around the world.
2015 Civic Type R will make 'at least' 276 hp from 2.0L turbo [w/video]
Tue, 10 Sep 2013Honda may not actually be showing off the production form of its upcoming Euro-only 2015 Civic Type R at the Frankfurt Motor Show this year, but it did take advantage of the focused media attention to make a pretty cool announcement. In addition to dropping a really hot video of the new Type R testing at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, Honda Europe president, Manabu Nishimae, gifted us with some juicy details about the coming hot hatch.
Nishimae confirmed rumors that this Type R would make use of a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine, while telling us that the mill would be good for an output of "at least 280 PS." A raw conversion from PS (metric horsepower) to standard horsepower gives us a figure of about 276 hp, or very near the rumored figure of 300 galloping, front-wheeled ponies.
The company will need each ounce of output from its new 2.0-liter engine if it is to meet its stated performance target: making the Civic Type R the fastest front-wheel-drive production car around the 'Ring. Apparently this last session of testing, with World Touring Car Championship driver Gabriele Tarquini at the wheel, has already gotten Honda close to the lap record. Scroll down to read Honda's brief press release about the upcoming Type R, and, more importantly, to listen to the car as it's throttled around the track.
Honda, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Mercedes also under diesel emissions scrutiny
Sat, Oct 10 2015The controversy over Volkswagen's diesel emissions scandal isn't limited to the US. In Europe, where diesel engines are far more popular, the issue is shining a harsh light on the NEDC emissions test. As already known, the evaluation does a poor job of reflecting real-world production of NOx, and it appears a significant number of automakers are affected. The Guardian in the UK has been reporting on real-world test results from a company called Emissions Analytics. After the latest round of checks, vehicles from Mercedes-Benz, Honda, Mazda and Mitsubishi were found to generate far more NOx than they should. The newspaper also published similar results for Renault, Nissan, Hyundai, Fiat, Volvo, Jeep, Citroen, VW, and Audi. On average, the figures are about four times over the limit of producing the pollutant. Unlike VW and its defeat device, these automakers aren't actually breaking the rules. The vehicles perform up to the NEDC lab test for emissions, but those results simply aren't translated to the street. "The VW issue in the US was purely the trigger which threw light on a slightly different problem in the EU - widespread legal over-emissions," Nick Molden from Emissions Analytics said to The Guardian. A big fight to decide the future of this issue appears to be on the horizon. Automakers claim that they can't meet the next round of tightening emissions regulations and are asking for compromises. Although, spokespeople for Mercedes and Honda told The Guardian that the brands would be in favor of the stricter rules. Meanwhile, some European governments began backtracking their support of diesels well before this scandal came to light. The added scrutiny certain hasn't helped the future of the oil-burner.
