You already know this is a rare car, and it's a Southern rust-free example. Would not sell after getting it just right, but we got an even better Texas rust-free car last month.. I bought this wagon in Richmond VA in March 2011 with 94K miles, so it has only seen three NH winters, and those were lightly driven by my wife, who worked 2-3 days a week and it was garaged otherwise. When I bought it, the CarFax indicated it started life in upstate NY briefly, then to PA, but most of its life in VA. It was sold by a dealer, so of course he didn't fix anything, and I immediately had to put in a new radiator and fix the E-brake. It got a new timing belt and water pump at 106,485, and a new exhaust system last year.  Last week it got a new front wheel bearing so that required re-alignment, now that's all set. You won't have to go through that expense again, absolutely everything works now.  Look at the photos: there's no rust in the usual places, and it does not appear to have been repainted, look at that shine!!.

eBay now has an odd way of walking you through the options and equipment, so hopefully I got everything listed.  The best thing about EX trim, it comes with EVerything, including moonroof and ABS brakes
.  The CD player is not original, it's a high-end SONY 52WX-4, and it's labeled 'satellite ready' but I never tried Sirius, etc..  It has a remote which is easier to use than the itty-bitty buttons down there on the radio.
The AC is cold, I've never had to service it, and get this:  The ABS STILL WORKS!!!!
The (full size) spare and tools have never been used, it still has original air. This car came with alloys and worn-out tires, so I replaced with these rims, 96-97 wheel covers, and Bridgestone Potenzas which are still about 75%.
It still has the luggage space cover, in good shape..
We don't smoke, and the car didn't smell like smoke when I bought it, but there was a (clumsy) smoker in its previous life, because there are three slight singes in the nap of the fabric in the drivers seat.  It's nowhere near burned through, and no discoloration.
Headlights are crystal clear, as is the windshield, no sandblasting or cracks or pits.
Bid without hesitation, this car is fine, needs nothing, drive anywhere in comfort and economy.

Remote entry does work, keyfob not pictured.  I can't believe there's another identical car on eBay, started the same day as mine, while I was struggling with my photos.

Engine, 2.2 liter not 2.4.  This engine came only in EX version on this series of Accords, later all engines called Vtek.  Different head than the base engine.
Londonderry borders the Manchester airport, if you fly in to pick up.  Good luck bidding.

Honda Civic Type R caught naked and frisky

Tue, 13 May 2014

Honda's upcoming Civic Type R is one of our most anticipated models of the next year - and we probably won't even get it in North America. And yet, each time we see it, the five-door just seems so menacing and purposeful. An all-but-undisguised version has just been spotted by our photographers testing on the back roads in Germany. If this signals what to expect, then the project appears to be coming along nicely.
Compared to the concept shown at the Geneva Motor Show, this prototype looks even meaner. Check out those big, blistered front fender extensions, taller wing, deeply sculpted front air dam and 10-spoke gold wheels. The Type R certainly certainly isn't hiding its performance intentions, and it has no reason to. Under the hood, we know it packs Honda's new 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder pumping out 276 horsepower, which is likely connected to a six-speed manual.
Now, if only Honda could find some way to get this machine across The Pond and into the our hot little hands. There has already been an online petition begging the Japanese automaker to find a way, and after recently enjoying an all-too-brief prototype drive, we're ready to sign up.

Honda Smart Home, NJ dealer show the power of solar

Thu, Mar 27 2014

Car dealerships are not usually thought of as "green" enterprises. They sell, after all, the fossil fuel-powered vehicles that account for about 18 percent of the CO2 emissions created in the US each year. As demonstrated by Rossi Honda in Vineland, NJ though, it doesn't have to be that way. Sure, the franchise still sells cars - lots of them - but they power the entire operation with sunlight in a way that provides ancillary benefits. The franchise has installed over 900 solar panels to become electric-grid neutral. Owned and operated by the seemingly indefatigable Ron Rossi, the franchise has installed over 900 solar panels to become electric-grid neutral. They aren't plastered across the roof of the showroom and service center, though. Instead, the array is mounted on canopies over his inventory, protecting them from sun, snow, and hail. Costing about $1.3 million to install, Rossi expects the system to save twice that amount in electricity bills over its 25-year life expectancy. Not bad, right? It makes us wonder why all dealerships don't do this. Honda itself recently completed its own solar project. The super-efficient Honda Smart Home is equipped, not only with its own beefy 9.5-kW solar array, but also with a 10-kWh lithium battery-based stationary storage system to buffer the building's electricity. Amongst its many party tricks, the home incorporates a DC-to-DC charging set up that allows the complimentary Fit EV to charge with half the efficiency losses of a typical home charging unit. While the installation is quite impressive and will serve as a "laboratory" of sorts for different groups involved with the project at the University of California, Davis, we can't help but wonder if the Japanese automaker couldn't get a bigger bang for its environmental buck elsewhere. A program, perhaps, to help its many franchise dealers to take up the Rossi challenge and go grid neutral. You can watch Rossi show off his array and other increased efficiency efforts by scrolling below for a pair of videos: one from Honda and one produced by Automotive News. As a bonus, we have time-lapse footage of the Honda Smart Home going up accompanied by press releases discussing both efforts. This content is hosted by a third party. Is the original Acura NSX a perfect supercar?

Fri, Nov 20 2015

The long-awaited arrival of the second coming of the Acura NSX has naturally brought with it many deep retrospectives on the first Acura NSX. Xcar is the latest with a stint in the time capsule, lining up three NSXs to sample at a track in the UK. There's the red wonder that started it all, the standard aluminum-bodied car that went on sale in 1990, so simple and easy-to-drive, extracting more joy than many thought possible from a 3.0-liter V6 with 'just' 270 horsepower and 210 pound-feet of torque. The 25-year-old exotic shows its years, but mostly because of an automatic transmission that dampens throttle response and doesn't like changing gears. The praises it earned in the day, however, still remain, namely excellent steering, handling, and feedback. After that comes laps in the first NSX Type R, the model that lost more than 250 pounds by having no air conditioning, sound deadening, or stereo, and lightweight tweaks like carbon seats and thinner glass. Although it the tuning makes it much harder, the presenter wants to know, "Why isn't Honda making a car like this today?" Then there's the 2002 model, the one that would only last three years before closing the door on a fifteen-year run. It got better at the same time as it got softer, but by then the NSX had nothing left to prove; it hit every one of its targets, it realigned the segment in ways we're still benefiting from, and for at least half of its run nothing else could touch it. Based on the reviews so far, that might include the brand new, very good and very complicated NSX. Check out the video above for Xcar's take.
