1999 Honda Accord, 4-door, auto trans. This car runs and drives like new. It has the 4-cylinder ULEV VTEC engine with automatic transmission. The engine and transmission operate flawlessly. This car has been well maintained, and you can tell by driving it. If you're looking for a great running, reliable Honda that will give you many more worry free miles, this is it.

This car has new tires, fresh oil, and a recent timing belt change. Features include power windows, power moonroof, power driver seat height adjust, power mirrors, cruise, A/C, CD player, and more. It drives straight as an arrow at any speed. The brakes are flawless, and the suspension is tight and smooth. Is it a perfect car? Of course not, it's 15 years old. The car does have its share of dings and scratches, and some rust. The worst of the rust is on the front hood. Although the suspension is tight and smooth, there is a little but of chatter over bumps. I'm assuming it has worn bushings on the sway bar. It also has a very minor exhaust note, but it is so minor that you can barely notice it. The check engine light is on, but I had my mechanic connect it to the diagnostic computer, and it is showing the code P1166, which is for the oxygen sensor. None of these issues effect the driveability of the car. Bottom line, this is a great running, well maintained car, for a great price.

Check the KBB fair condition value and consider what a great deal this is considering how well it drives and the fact that it has new tires.

Honda settles class-action lawsuit over oil-burning V6s

Wed, 23 Oct 2013

Although we hadn't heard of this issue before, Automotive News reports that Honda has agreed to settle a massive class-action lawsuit brought against it for engine trouble potentially affecting nearly 1.6 million vehicles. The lawsuit includes Accord (2008-12), Odyssey (2008-13), Pilot (2009-13) and Crosstour (2010-13) models equipped with the 3.5-liter V6 with Variable Cylinder Management, which might experience engine misfire, excessive oil burning and premature spark plug fouling issues.
As part of the settlement, Honda will extend the powertrain warranty on these models for eight years (from time of purchase or lease) with no mileage limitation, and it will also reimburse customers who had to pay out-of-pocket expenses for related repairs such as spark plugs, pistons or, in some cases, apparently, an entirely new engine. (Of course, the repairs had to be related to certain trouble codes.) Lawyers will get no more than $800,000 from Honda and the guy who originally started the case, Vince Eagen, will get $1,000 for his "time and effort."
The final ruling on the matter will take place on March 21, 2014, and if you want to see if you're affected and what options you have in the settlement, check out this .pdf document with all the details.

Honda CB350 and cafe racer culture explored by Electric Federal

Sun, 20 Oct 2013

The latest video from Electric Federal covers one of our favorite aspects of motorcycle culture - café racers. In an interview with Adam "Gasser" Gaspic, the owner of Gasser Customs, EF takes a look at the culture and one of Gasser's latest offerings, a hopped-up Honda CB350, called the Silver Bullet.
Gasser has gone all-out on the Silver Bullet, replacing some of the body parts with fiberglass and delivering more than a few upgrades to the rebuilt engine. The brakes and suspension of the smaller bike also get some attention, as do some of the bike's aesthetics. Besides the upgrades, there's just something to be said for the sleek, minimalist nature of the little Honda.
Naturally, the videography is gorgeous, and it's a great look at a kind of motorcycling that seems to be overlooked in the world of sport bikes and Harley-Davidson-style cruisers. Take a look below for the full video.

Consumer Reports explains its disdain for infotainment

Thu, 20 Mar 2014

One of the perks of reviewing all manner of cars and trucks is that we're exposed to all the different infotainment systems. Whether Cadillac's CUE, Chrysler's UConnect, BMW's iDrive or MyFord Touch, we sample each and every infotainment system on the market.
Not surprisingly, some are better than others. It seems consumers have come to a similar consensus, with Consumer Reports claiming that Ford and Lincoln, Cadillac and Honda offer the worst user infotainment experiences. Not surprisingly, you won't find much argument among the Autoblog staff.
Take a look below to see just what it is about the latest batch of infotainment systems that grinds CR's gears. After that, scroll down into Comments and let us know if you agree with the mag's views.
