It is still functional and runs, but smoke comes out of the tailpipe even after an attempted repair. This was my work horse vehicle up to a couple of weeks ago. Despite a minor accident in 2011 that dented its left rear side, the overall structure of this vehicle is sound (after all it's a Honda). Bumper is secure. Power steering leaks a bit and intermittent steering wheel noise exists on slow turns. Scratches on the surface and paint has faded slightly since it was repainted in 2005. Antenna is broken (only a stub now)."

I'm selling this vehicle AS-IS.
I've had this vehicle since 2000, traveled with me on my multiple moves around the country and been a work horse even up a few weeks ago. Because of its age and mileage, I've had to put in a number of maintenance repairs. Otherwise, this car has been a reliable companion. It still gets great gas mileage (up to 33 mpg highway).

Why I'm selling this vehicle?

It suddenly burned oil one day (I never had to do it all this time), so I figured it was a oil issue. After a costly repair, smoke still persisted. I could continue driving it even with all the smoke but I'm no longer comfortable doing so or afford to do any follow-up repair work.

This last repair work is the only one conducted this year and it involved the following:

- Oil change
- Replaced all timing belts and serpentine belts
- Replaced water pump
- Replaced PCP valve
- Oil seal and seal retainer
- New antifreeze
- New set of wiper blades that I was going to install until this most recent event took place

Last year's repair work included:
- Replacing water hose
- Replacing front and rear engine/motor mounts
- Cleaned throttle body
- Replaced the front windshield

Why am I selling at this price?
As much as I'd like to take advantage of the full Blue-Book value because of the overall condition of this car (pre-recent repair), I am simply trying to recoup some of the costly repair money from this last go around. If you can revive this car and put it back in pristine running condition, then you will likely enjoy it for a little while longer. I hope you are clear of what you are getting with this listing.

Other information you should know about?
- Feel free to ask me any questions or clarifications. I will be clear and upfront with you. My intent is to sell it to a willing buyer who have better use of this vehicle.

- If you are curious or the winning bidder, you are welcome to inspect it in person and decide for yourself before making final arrangements. In that case, I will only take cash or certified cashier's check please. Otherwise, we do everything through ebay/Paypal.

You will be responsible for picking up and transporting this car. I might also be able to work with you on towing this car if you are closeby. Just inquire.

- I also welcome all other offers and will take the best one. In case you haven't noticed, I am selling this one way or another...AS-IS.

West Coast labor dispute hampers Japanese automakers' US plants

Wed, Feb 18 2015

The ongoing labor dispute between the International Longshore and Warehouse Union and port owners along the West Coast is starting to affect more Japanese automakers building vehicles in the US. The issue already forced Honda and Subaru to take the expensive option of airlifting some parts into the US weeks ago, and according to USA Today, Toyota and Nissan have begun doing so, as well. The choice hasn't been cheap, though, and Subaru's chief financial officer estimated that the decision cost around $60 million more per month than sending components by cargo ship. The effects continue to radiate, according to USA Today, and shortages of some models are possible. Honda is slowing production at its factories in Ohio, Indiana and Canada because the automaker doesn't have enough transmissions and electronics for some vehicles. Toyota already cut back on overtime at some factories. Nissan has only seen a small effect from the issue, though, because of its local suppliers. Dock workers and port owners have been negotiating on a new contract since last year, and the union has organized work slowdowns in response. According to USA Today, the automakers could move shipments to Canada or Mexico, but it would take longer for parts to arrive. 2020 Honda CR-V Hybrid vs other hybrid crossovers | How they compare on paper

Thu, Sep 19 2019

The long-anticipated 2020 Honda CR-V Hybrid was announced yesterday, and although we don't have every spec available (including the all-important official fuel economy figures), Honda provided enough that we can piece together a comparison of powertrain specs and dimensions. The same can be said of the 2020 Ford Escape Hybrid, which we just drove for the first time.  Together, they represent a significant increase in the number of compact crossover hybrids, as the current total is one: the 2019 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid. The old Nissan Rogue Hybrid has been discontinued, leaving the subcompact Kia Niro Hybrid as the only other vehicle in the ballpark. As you'll see below, its size and performance are much different than the others, but its fuel economy and price are superior.  Performance The RAV4 Hybrid is the performance champ of the group, but both it and the new CR-V Hybrid are actually more powerful than their respective gas-only siblings. Although the added weight of its battery pack negates much of that horsepower advantage, the RAV4 Hybrid's subsequent acceleration is indeed a smidge quicker than the gas-only version. It will be interesting to see if that's the case with the CR-V. By contrast, the Ford Escape offers a 250-horsepower 2.0-liter turbo engine, meaning the hybrid variation is most definitely not the Escape's highest-performance offering. Nevertheless, the Hybrid does produce more power than the base 181-horsepower 1.5-liter three-cylinder. The Niro, meanwhile, brings up the rear in terms of performance, but Kia estimates a perfectly acceptable 0-60 time of 8.6 seconds. The others are likely in the mid-7-second range. Fuel economy This is ultimately an open question since we don't have official figures for the CR-V and Escape. Based on Honda's estimate of the CR-V Hybrid being 50% more efficient in the city than the gas-only version, our calculators say it should get 43 mpg in the city. Then, based on information provided on the Escape Hybrid first drive and some more calculation, our best guestimate for it is 40 mpg. Either way, given how mpg is calculated, any potential differences between them in terms of actual fuel burned should be negligible.  On the other hand, most Kia Niros sold get 51 mpg in the city and 49 mpg combined. According to the EPA, that translates to an annual average fuel cost of $750. The RAV4 Hybrid, by contrast, is $900.  FWD vs AWD Note that the CR-V and RAV4 come standard with all-wheel drive.

Honda trademarks 'CDX' nameplate

Wed, Feb 18 2015

Less than two weeks ago, we discussed the possibility of an Acura-badged version of the sure-to-be popular Honda HR-V. Now, Acura has gone ahead and registered a new trademark that fits in perfectly with its two other crossovers, the RDX and MDX. Our friends at Auto Guide report the company has reserved the name "CDX" with the US Patent and Trademark Office, with the trademark covering "automobiles and their structural parts." While it's true that these kinds of trademarks are filed regularly, the timing in this case is indicative of something more than simply covering bases. After all, it seems very, very unlikely that we'd have comments from Acura on a premium version of the HR-V on February 5 and a trademark filing for a name that fits the brand's CUV nomenclature less than two weeks later, only for it to not go ahead and build an actual vehicle. Adding to that logic is the simple fact that the compact CUV market, both on the premium and mainstream level, is arguably the hottest in the auto industry right now, and it seems like a virtual guarantee that we'll see an HR-V wearing the Acura CDX name in the not-so-distant future. Should that come to pass, look for the CDX to challenge the near-premium Buick Encore, as well as a potential compact CUV from Infiniti.
