You are bidding on a One owner 1988 Honda Accord LX with only 89K original miles!!! This vehicle has been meticulously maintained and cared for by one owner since new. It has never slept outside as you can see by the like new condition of the original velour interior. Honda went overboard with these cars back in the 80's, insuring that whoever bought one, would be so impressed with quality, the dependability and the value, that they would never buy anything else. Seems to have paid off because in spite of the cost cutting that was obvious in the next generation Accord from 1990, Honda Accord has retained one of the most loyal customer base in history.

Engine:
Engine starts effortlessy with just a nudge on the accelerator. Idles @ 950 rpm for a few minutes then settles into a silky smooth 650 rpm idle. No knocking. No pinging. No missfire whatsoever. Temp. gauge never moves past mid point. Seems to be some seepage from valve cover gasket.

Transmission:
Transmission engages with the normal Honda buzz that was common in it's day. Once moving, it becomes a smooth turbinelike pull up through the gears. 4 speed automatic shifts up and down with no clunk, no slipping, no drama whatsoever!

Brakes:
Brakes are in good shape. 45% Front 70% rear. Vehicle stops in a straight line with no pedal shake. No squeaking or grinding.

Paint:
Paint is all original. No accidents or repairs anywhere on vehicle. Couple of scratches on the bumper (see photos). Nice shine still.

Interior:
As previously mentioned, interior is immaculate!! P windows, P locks, P mirrors, P antenna, Cruise control, Air conditioner,  original Am/Fm cassette are all in working order.

**This is a 26 year old car. Please look at the photos carefully before bidding. Vehicle is sold AS IS, WHERE IS. NO WARRANTY EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED. NO CANCELLATIONS. NO ADJUSTMENTS. NO REFUNDS. Please bid responsibly.

Honda CEO carless, waiting on Civic Type R

Tue, Jul 14 2015

As chief executive of Honda, Takahiro Hachigo could get his hands on anything the automaker produces, or has produced: a new Acura RLX luxury sedan, a luxed-out Odyssey minivan, a top-of-the-line CBR sport bike... even an old NSX supercar. Heck, he could probably even get the skunkworks to cook him up a road-going version of the ten-cylinder HSV-010 that was supposed to be the new NSX but only ever ended up racing in Super GT. So what does he drive? "Unfortunately, I don't have a car now," Hachigo-san revealed to journalists during a roundtable discussion in Tokyo. That situation won't last forever, though: "There is a model I want, which will, as I have told you, be launched this autumn," said Hachigo. "I want to buy the Civic Type R." The Honda chief is referring, of course, to the company's new hot hatch that will be produced in the UK and exported around the world, including back to Japan. It's got a 2.0-liter turbo four pumping out 306 horsepower to send it to 60 in 5.7 seconds, making it one of the fastest and most powerful hatchbacks ever devised. And more than anything else the company makes, that's what Hachigo wants for himself. The news should be welcomed by performance enthusiasts who may have been concerned about the future of Honda's performance models. The company has a slew of them coming out, including the new NSX and Civic Type R, and may even produce another sports car to slot in between. Those, however, were spearheaded under the administration of Hachigo's predecessor, Takanobu Ito. But if Hachigo's stated driving preferences are anything to go by, he's got some high octane pumping through his veins as well. Until the Civic Type R starts arriving in Japan, though, Hachigo's garage will have an empty space in it, filled only by his wife's N-One kei car and his own VTR 250 motorcycle. We're sure his chauffeur has him well taken care of, though, in the back of an RLX or whatever else the company sends to pick up its new chief executive. Related Video:

Is the Acura Legend coming back?

Fri, May 24 2019

Great news for fans of the Acura Legend: Honda has applied for a trademark in Europe for the word "Legend," pertaining to "Vehicles; Apparatus for locomotion by land; Apparatus for locomotion by air; Apparatus for locomotion by water; Parts and fittings for land vehicles; Parts and fittings for air and space vehicles; Parts and fittings for water vehicles." This trademark was first spotted by AutoGuide.com, and gives more credence to our speculation from a couple months ago about the possibility of the Legend nameplate returning to the Acura lineup in the States. If you were reading closely before, you'll notice that it was actually Honda that applied for the trademark, not Acura. The Legend was sold with a Honda badge on it in Europe back in the day, so this trademark filing in Europe makes perfect sense. In our previous report, we put forth the idea that Acura could bring the Legend name back with a successor to the RLX flagship sedan. Specifically, we were thinking that Acura would use the four-door coupe form previewed by the Acura Precision concept. That story also suggested a new Legend flagship could debut during Monterey Car Week. The 1986 Legend sedan was one of Acura's first two vehicles when the brand launched (the other being the Integra). It had a smooth 2.5-liter V6 that made all of 151 horsepower at the time. A sweet-looking coupe soon followed the sedan. The name Legend would be applied to a second-generation, which is arguably the one best-remembered. The coupe in particular has lived up to its name. Much of that legendary status, though, is the result of what followed: the Legend name and coupe body style dying for 1996 in favor of the RL, a four-door sedan as bland as its name. Acura's flagship has never recovered. We'll be quite pleased if Acura ultimately decides to reveal a totally new Legend to blow us away in Monterey. The return to actual names for the lineup would also be lovely. It's certainly working for Lincoln. Now if they'd only trademark "Integra" ...

Honda withdraws LMP2 prototype from Pikes Peak

Thu, Jun 25 2015

Things don't always go as planned, especially when it comes to racing. That's the lesson that Honda had to learn the hard way at Pikes Peak this year. Unfortunately that means that the ARX-04b LMP2 prototype won't be running up the mountain in this weekend's Race to the Clouds. Honda was slated to run its new LMP2 prototype at Pikes Peak, but a series of misfortunes meant that the entry had to be withdrawn. The prototype was set back with a series of mechanical difficulties, chief among them a turbocharger failure that inflicted damage on the vehicle's engine. That left Honda with little choice but to withdraw the entry. "We some had some problems that forced us to miss practice on Tuesday and Wednesday," Honda spokesman Eric Mauk confirmed in correspondence with Autoblog. Given that Justin Wilson – despite his extensive experience particularly in open wheels – is considered a rookie at this event, "race rules state that he must practice all three sections of the race course before the race. With just two days of practice left (you can only practice one section a day due to time constraints), we could not do that, so we had to withdraw." It's an unfortunate turn of events for Honda and Wilson, to be sure, but the manufacturer will still be entering a number of other vehicles at Pikes Peak this weekend. Included among them are the electric CR-Z prototype, and the NSX that is serving as pace car for the event. All told, Honda is fielding 13 entries in 11 different classes.
