Up for auction is a very nice 1993 GMC Typhoon. It is a 2 owner truck and has been in the south all its life. It was bought new in TN and since been in NC and SC since 1996. I bought the truck a few months back and it had been in stored in the guys shed and harldy driven. It is one of 2200 built in 1993 and is 1 of 98 painted two tone Black with Gray bottom. The truck is a 4.3 Turbo V6 rated at 280 HP from factory and its All Wheel Drive. It only has 57k original miles. Truck is for the most part stock. Does have bigger injectors, fuel pump, aftermarket plugs and wires, cold air intake, 160 degree thermostat, and an exhaust system. I think the truck would be a bit more lively with a tune but it runs quite well as it is. The engine bay and underside of the truck is very clean. It has been lowered a little bit, and does have a bit of a stiff ride. Nothing you wouldn't expect. The interior is extremely nice. Does have a stain on passenger side floor mat and its missing the spare tire. Power options work good, passenger window is a bit sluggish, could probably use a window motor. Also the power door locks sometimes don't work, mainly the drivers side. Leather is in great shape, has factory CD player. Also the shift indicator line doesn't show what gear your in(little orange line beside shifter doesn't move when you place in gear), probably a simple fix, just haven't messed with it. I put new rear shocks on back hatch after I purchased it as the others were shot. New 245/50/16s with less than 100 miles on them. I also recently installed a new battery. All the AC stuff was put on the truck new back in 2010, the air currentky doesn't low cold but I'm sure it would be fine with a charge, the heat works great. The exterior of the truck is in good shape to be 20 years old. The black paint does show wear, looks good from 10 feet away but up close you can pick the paint. Mainly from were scratches have been touched up from previous owner. The areas above the wheels are the worst, where the clading has rubbed the body. Those spots have been touched up and are noticeable when you are up closely on the truck. I did repaint the the cladding on the bottom of the truck as the gray was pretty faded when I got the truck. The trucks looks very good to be a 20 year old truck, its not new, but has been took care of but driven and enjoyed. It does look like the top and hood has been painted in the past. I have been driving the truck around and it hasn't giving any issues. Runs really good and I get stopped every time I drive it and people talk about how nice it is. I have a clean and clear title in hand. Also a Autocheck report where the truck scores excellent, it also backs up the mileage. Heres you chance to own a nice and rare GMC. I encourage anyone who wants to come few the truck to just get in touch with me and that can be arranged. Any questions just ask, Email, Call or Text 828 289 6985. Text anytime, call before 11 pm.

2023 GMC Sierra AT4X could swipe a few parts from the AT4X AEV

Thu, Jul 21 2022

GM recently expanded its collaboration with American Expedition Vehicles beyond the Bison herd with the 2023 GMC Sierra AT4X AEV. This Jimmy takes matters further than the standard AT4X by increasing ground clearance, approach and departure angle, and breakover angle, improvements made possible by new stamped steel bumpers and a set of 33-inch mud-terrain tires wrapping 18-inch AEV Salta wheels. GM Authority says the AT4X AEV won't be the only Sierra to get special parts, crediting sources for the news that the standard 2023 Sierra AT4X will get some of the equipment from the special trim. According to the report, at some point for the coming model year, the off-road-focused Sierra will bolt on the AEV's stamped steel front and rear bumpers, stamped steel front skid plate, and 33-inch Goodyear mud terrains. If this is true, it's an intriguing move; the equipment list is nearly everything found on the proper AEV model. Going by that list, the only bits left off would be four additional skid plates, wheels, gloss black door handles, gloss black tailgate accent, and AEV logos. Judging from the GMC retail website, the grille that debuted on the AT4X AEV will also be on the standard AT4X.  GMC hasn't announced pricing for the 2023 range yet. The pickup will be carryover, but we would expect various well-known issues to increase the $78,300 price of the regular AT4X over the 2022 model. GMA believes "it's reasonable to assume" that a standard 2023 Sierra AT4X with some AEV parts would go up even more, whenever it hits the market — and this is on top of the Sierra's $1,500 price increase from making OnStar standard equipment. And after that, of course, the proper AT4X AEV would be more again.

GM now finishing and shipping pickups it had parked for lack of chips

Fri, Oct 22 2021

DETROIT — General Motors is more than halfway through shipping newly-assembled pickups that it had parked due to a shortage of semiconductor chips, a top executive at the No. 1 U.S. automaker said on Friday. "We've made great progress," Steve Carlisle, GM's North American chief executive said at the Reuters Events Automotive Summit. "We're a bit better than halfway through that at the moment and our goal would be to clear out our '21 model years by the end of the year. We'll have a bit of a tail of '22 model years into the new year but not for too long." The global chip shortage has forced automakers like GM to idle production or in some cases mostly build vehicles and then park them until the necessary chips can be installed, allowing those vehicles to be then shipped to dealers. Last month, GM Chief Financial Officer Paul Jacobson cautioned that GM's third-quarter wholesale deliveries could be down by 200,000 vehicles because of chip shortages. He did not break out what share of that was trucks. To expedite transportation of newly-built vehicles to dealers, Carlisle said GM bought a number of car haulers to deliver them from factories or distribution centers. The Detroit automaker has also allowed dealers to pick the vehicles up themselves in some locations. Carlisle said new vehicle inventories have shrunk to below 20 days in the United States due to the supply chain disruptions, but the company wants to get that back up to 30 to 45 days with some getting to 60 days depending on the product line. GM sees sales of gasoline-powered vehicles being steady over the decade and real growth opportunity in electric vehicles and software, with one not undermining the other, he said.

2023 J.D. Power Initial Quality Study shows there's less quality than last year

Thu, Jun 22 2023

Vehicle inventory, vehicle pricing, and the supply chain are finally showing improvement. Vehicle quality, on the other hand, is still going the wrong way. That's the takeaway from the 2023 J.D. Power Initial Quality Study that found overall problems exceeded last year's record high. The study surveyed owners of 2022-model-year vehicles to assess the average rate of problems per 100 vehicles (PP100) during the first 90 days of ownership. The average figure for the 32 ranked manufacturers in 2020 was about 166 problems per 100 vehicles. In the 2021 IQS, that dropped to an average of 162. For 2022, the average jumped to 180 problems. For 2023, the PP100 is up to an industry average of 192 — an increase of 30 problems per 100 vehicles in just two years. Let's get to the good news first: Dodge reclaimed the crown of having the lowest number of problems per 100 vehicles at 140. Buick won last year with 139 PP100, falling to third this year. Dodge was the first American automaker to top the IQS in 2021. Its return as the least problematic gives parent company Stellantis three wins in four years after Ram was crowned in 2021. It also gives U.S. brands a four-peat after Buick topped the chart in 2022 by having owners report the fewest problems. This year's top 10 is Dodge, Ram, Alfa Romeo, Buick, Chevrolet, GMC, Porsche, Cadillac, Kia, and Lexus. Stellantis gathered a few feathers for its cap, in fact. Maserati showed the largest improvement year-on-year, followed by Alfa Romeo, and Alfa Romeo posted the lowest PP100 among the premium class, beating Porsche and Cadillac. Alfa Romeo has been vocal about working to improve quality, mentioning Lexus as a target. Last year the Japanese brand finished sixth, the Italians finished near the bottom, between Jaguar and Mitsubishi. This year Alfa jumped to third, Lexus dropped to tenth. Ram was the third-best on the list of improvers from 2022 to 2023.   The individual model with the lowest PP100 is the Nissan Maxima. Now for the troublesome bits. In the words of Frank Hanley, senior director of auto benchmarking at J.D. Power, "The industry is at a major crossroad and the path each manufacturer chooses is paramount for its future.
