1999 Gmc Suburban 1500 on 2040-cars
Martinez, California, United States

Up For Auction is the Cleanest 1999 GMC Suburban around! This is the last of the old body style suburbans with the tried and true Chevy 350 Vortec motor. 3 California Owners (the second owner owned it for 10 years) with a average of 8500 miles driven a year! This is the SLT model giving it every option available in 1999. To highlight a few, dual power seats, leather interior, heated front seats, rear airconditioning.... EVERYTHING WORKS! EVERYTHING...There is not a single feature on the truck that is not operable!!! Highlights: 4" suspension lift 6 disc Sony CD Player Custom Grille Third row seating Brand new 10 ply E Rated 305x70x16 tires American Racing Wheels 7 Way electrical connection Flowmaster exhaust
I purchased this truck from a dealer after it was traded in by the second owner after 10 years of ownership (Do the carfax - Oil changes religiously every 3,000 miles for 10 years). This truck was garaged and waxed over its entire life. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO Paint peel or fading! I am selling this suburban after only a few months of ownership, simply because, the wife wants something smaller to drive. Basically this was my idea of an SUV and not hers! I have the original owners book, (2) sets of keys. I DO NOT HAVE working key fabs. These can be purchased on a website called keyless.com for 60 bucks and can be programmed in your driveway. I recently replaced the notorious gm door hinge pin bushings on the front passenger door, had drivers door adjusted and front door strikers replaced, by a professional body shop. I also replaced the two back door lock actuators and the rear barn door lock actuator. I was told the transmission was rebuilt at 100,000 miles. I have no documentation on this! It feels like it was, it shifts firm and solid through all gears. INTERIOR: Leather interior is nearly perfect! The two back seats look as though they have never been sat in. The front passenger seat is nearly perfect. The drivers seat is a 8 out 10. There is no tears or rips, but the leather is slightly worn and shows signs of being 15 years old. I purchased custom seat covers to preserve the interior not because it was messed up. I can text you pictures of the seats (I took photos before I put the seat covers on). It has the factory floor mats for all three rows of passengers and the carpet is clean with minimal signs of use. This Truck needs NOTHING! It is in beautiful condition and you would never think it to be 15 years old! Truely the best example of this era suburban....Overall this suburban is excellent condition and fraction of the cost for a newer one. Anyone would be proud drving this truck around. Please call me or text me with questions. I can take cell phone videos and text them back to you of anything you want to see closer up. If you your looking for this era suburban don't pass this one up...super low miles and has not been beat on! Clear title in Hand! (925) 323-5747 |

GMC could have used Jeep's prized grille design on its born-again Hummer
Fri, Jan 31 2020General Motors confirmed it's bringing the Hummer nameplate back on an electric, GMC-badged pickup by publishing a dark photo of its front end. The battery-powered drivetrain under the sheetmetal represents a tectonic shift, but we noticed another flagrant break with tradition: it wears six slot-like inserts instead of seven like on every previous Hummer and countless Jeeps. Adding an extra slot wouldn't have landed GMC in hot water. The seven-slot grille has historically been associated with Jeep, and the company proved it's willing to go to significant lengths to ensure another automaker — especially one it perceives as a rival — doesn't use it. Parent company Fiat-Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) bitterly sued Mahindra over the Roxor's design, including its five-slot grille, and won in 2019, forcing the Indian firm to unveil a redesigned side-by-side for the 2020 model year. And yet, stylists would have very likely been able to get away with it on the Hummer. While General Motors owns Hummer, the brand traces its ancestry to 1970, when American Motors Corporation (AMC) purchased Jeep from Kaiser and changed the name of its General Products Division to AM General Corp. The division manufactured the rear-wheel drive, CJ-based DJ for the United States Postal Service and began developing the Humvee in 1979. Jeep and AM General went their separate ways when Renault began investing in AMC. Foreign companies weren't allowed to own defense contractors, and AMC had more to gain by gradually selling out to Renault than by keeping AM General, so it divested the division to LTV Corporation in 1983. Humvee production started shortly after, but no one protested its seven-slot grille because there was no risk of it stealing sales from a comparable Jeep model. It was manufactured exclusively for the U.S. Army, and civilian sales weren't planned. H2SUV View 4 Photos The original civilian Hummer released in 1992 must have raised more than a few eyebrows but, here again, it didn't directly compete with one of Jeep's off-roaders, so no one complained. It was huge, correspondingly expensive, and its portal axles made the YJ-generation Wrangler wet its pants. It's the H2 concept (pictured above) unveiled at the 2000 Detroit Auto Show that set off alarm bells in Auburn Hills. DaimlerChrysler's lawyers counted the slots in the chrome-plated insert that dominated its front end and shuddered when they reached seven.
GM natural gas-powered vans recalled due to possible leak
Wed, Sep 24 2014General Motors is recalling almost 3,200 of its compressed-natural-gas powered utility vans because of possible leaks. GM and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) released a notice last week saying that 3,196 Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana CNG vans are on recall, though no accidents have been reported due to the possible issue. The recall is specifically for vans for model years ranging from 2011 to 2014. The recall stems from a potential leak from the compressed natural gas high-pressure regulator, and such a leak could cause a fire or explosion. GM will replace the vehicles' high-pressure regulator in order to fix the problem, will do it free of charge and is instructing owners to contact Chevrolet or GMC customer service to arrange for the parts replacement. Utility vehicle makers like General Motors have pushed for fleet sales of CNG-powered vans and trucks for the past few years and have touted them for their cheaper refueling costs relative to standard gasoline, not to mention the fact that natural gas can be readily sourced from throughout North America (thanks, fracking). According to CNGPrices.com, compressed natural gas sells for about $2.22 a gallon, on average, while the AAA is pegging the average price of gas at $3.34 a gallon. NHTSA has posted information on the recall here. Featured Gallery News Source: NHTSA via Reuters Green Chevrolet GM GMC Natural Gas Vehicles CNG gmc savana
Should heavy-duty pickup trucks have window stickers with fuel mileage estimates?
Sat, Sep 23 2017If you were to stroll into your nearest Chevrolet, Ford, GMC, Nissan, or Ram dealership, you'd find a bunch of pickup trucks. Most of those would have proper window stickers labeled with things like base prices, options prices, location of manufacture, and, crucially, fuel economy estimates. But you'd also run across a number of heavy-duty trucks with no such fuel mileage data from the Environmental Protection Agency. The EPA doesn't require automakers to publish the valuable miles-per-gallon measurement for vehicles with gross weight ratings that exceed 8,500 pounds. That makes it difficult for consumers to compare behemoths powered by turbocharged diesel engines – between one another, and between smaller, gasoline-fueled trucks. Consumer Reports doesn't think it should be this way, and it's spearheading an effort (PDF link) to get the government to require manufacturers to publish fuel economy estimates. In its own testing, CR found that heavy-duty pickups powered by Ford's Power Stroke, GM's Duramax, and FCA's Cummins diesel engines (which doesn't include the Ram's EcoDiesel) get worse fuel mileage than their lighter-duty gas-powered siblings. We're not so sure HD-truck buyers are unaware of this fact – big diesels don't really come into their own until big loads are placed in their beds or attached to their trailer hitches. Under heavy workloads, the diesel trucks will almost certainly return greater efficiency than a similar gas-powered truck. What's more, HD trucks with lumbering diesels in general make the driver feel more confident while towing due to greater torque at low engine RPM than gas trucks. They also offer greater max-weight limits. Still, we agree EPA fuel mileage estimates should be offered for heavy-duty pickups. And we think the comparisons provided by Consumer Reports might be interesting to potential buyers. Click here to see the results of CR's tests, and let us know what you think using the poll below.
