1 Ton Single Cab 4x4 Diesel Gmc Sierra on 2040-cars
Vienna, Illinois, United States
Original 1 ton GMC Sierra pickup truck. I have owned this truck for 20 years. I bought the truck in 1994 off of a dealer in Fox Lake Illinois. The truck had around 80,000 miles on it when I bought it. I mainly drove this truck when I was in High School. At the time I was not looking for a truck with a lift, but it was already on it when I bought it. The truck has a 4 inch lift so it is not excessive and looks good. I have always kept this truck shedded since I have owned it. It currently sits in the pole barn covered up. The mice have not been in it. I start it up about once every three months to keep mechanical parts working, motor lubed ect. I am selling the truck because I need to reduce my fleet of vehicles. I also do not want to keep paying insurance on it since I do not drive it. I have spent a lot of money on this truck over the years, way more than what it is worth to keep it original. I have replaced the radiator. Right after I bought it from the dealer it had a small leak so I changed the whole radiator. The doors, bed sides, tail gait are new. The lights on the tailgate are original with the 1 ton package at the time. It has been painted back to original midnight Black, factory color. The body man put extra clear coat on for extreme protection . Several years back the dash started cracking so I replaced it with a new one. The headliner has been replaced and is still good shape, this was a common problems with these older trucks. The seat is in good shape, I always had a seat cover on it to keep it nice. I fixed the steering column because it got loose along with the ignition switch. It has tilt wheel. The windshield wiper control lever is new. All the gauges work. The transfer case was rebuilt by a local 4x4 shop. When they rebuilt this they went ahead and put in a new clutch, throw out bearing, new u joints, seals, ect . The brakes are like new. The tires have less than 5000 miles on them, so they are in good shape. It has a 4 speed transmission with 4:10 gear ratio Dana 70 rear end. The power windows work. The engine runs good, no major leaks. The engine has been completely rebuilt over the years. The block was shipped off to St. Louis to be fixed back in 1995. I had the heads magnafluxed, welded and resurfaced by Mac Weld in Carbondale IL. It has hydraulic lifters on the heads. Everything was always put back original down to the wiring, no half jobs. I put new head bolts on the heads when they were installed back. The glow plugs work good, they have been changed over the years. When I had the body work done, I changed one fuel tank out, so one is newer than the other. No leaks on the tanks. The motor has its usual blow by. The motor is around 370 Cubic inch displacement detroit engine, not the converted 5.9. The batteries are in good shape. It has two batteries purchased september 2011. I never smoked in this truck. I never mudded this truck. I did my best to keep the truck original. Some extras I added to it over the years was a bug shield, full set of running boards, visor and bed caps. Sliding window was factory original. I like the looks of the old GM trucks and really would miss the truck. Any other questions you can call me at 618-771-2363. |

GMC SIerra Denali is ready to live the high life
Wed, 29 May 2013Between the information for the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado High Country and the accidently leaked picture on GMC's consumer site, it didn't take much imagination to envision what the 2014 GMC Sierra Denali would be like. But here it is. Going on sale this fall, the 2014 Sierra Denali will continue to be the most luxurious pickup truck in the General Motors portfolio, while getting more power and technology than ever before.
Like previous models, the 2014 Sierra Denali stands out from lower Sierra models with a big cheese-grater chrome grille, 20-inch chrome wheels and body-color bumpers. Inside, the Denali gets plenty of leather with contrasting stitching, but this is where GMC really steps up from the Silverado High Country with real aluminum trim and a new customizable eight-inch driver display in the gauge cluster. Standard features will include heated and cooled front bucket seats, the Intellilink infotainment system with Bose audio, while the options list offers a Driver Alert Package (with forward collision alert and lane departure warning), a rear-seat entertainment system and a Z71 Off-Road Package.
As for power, the standard engine will be the 5.3-liter EcoTec3 V8 with its 355 horsepower, and the optional engine will be the new 6.2-liter V8. Although official power figures for the bigger engine aren't in yet, GM is finally putting some estimates on paper expecting around 420 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque to go with a 12,000-pound towing capacity. The new Sierra Denali will be available in either two- or four-wheel drive. Scroll down for more details listed in the official press release.
GM claims it's first to sell million 30+ mpg vehicles
Fri, 04 Jan 2013As we continue to put together all the data for the year-end edition of By The Numbers, General Motors has announced that it sold more than a million vehicles in the US last year that achieved at least 30 miles per gallon on the highway. More impressively, GM managed this feat using multiple strategies including small vehicle size, turbocharged engines and hybrid or plug-in technologies across four brands (Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC) accounting for 13 separate models. This number will grow even more in 2013 thanks to cars like the all-electric Spark, the diesel Cruze, the range-extended Cadillac ELR and the Buick Encore compact CUV.
GM's small car sales were up 39 percent last year helping to attain this million-sales mark for 30-mpg models, and almost 40 percent of all GM sales consisted of cars with fuel-efficient I4 engines. In regards to more advanced means of improving fuel economy, GM says that it plans on having 500,000 vehicles with "some form of electrification" on the road by 2017.

Ford F-150, Chevy Silverado, Toyota Tundra flunk IIHS headlight test
Tue, Oct 25 2016The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety put pickup truck headlights to the test and found that the majority of them were equipped with subpar units. The 2017 Honda Ridgeline was the only truck to earn a rating of "good." The large pickup truck test was comprised of the: 2016 to 2017 GMC Sierra, 2017 Nissan Titan, 2016 Ram 1500, 2016 to 2017 Chevrolet Silverado, 2016 to 2017 Ford F-150, and 2016 to 2017 Toyota Tundra. The Sierra's headlights earned a rating of "acceptable," the headlights found on the Titan and Ram 1500 were found to be "marginal," and the ones on the Silverado, F-150, and Tundra were rated as "poor." IIHS claims the F-150 was the most disappointing out of the large pickup trucks as both its halogen and optional LED headlights failed to provide adequate visibility during testing. The Ridgeline (which earned a "good rating"), is usually considered a midsize or small truck, though IIHS included it in the field of large pickups. The headlights on the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado, 2016 GMC Canyon, 2016 Nissan Frontier, and 2016 to 2017 Toyota Tacoma, which made up the small pickup truck group, all earned a rating of "poor." The IIHS claimed the Colorado had the worst headlights of any truck that was tested, as the base vehicle's units were only able to illuminate up to 123 feet in front of the car. The Ridgeline's headlights, for reference, were able to illuminate up to 358 feet in front of the vehicle. To conduct its test, the IIHS utilizes a special tool to measure how far light is projected out of the headlights in different driving situations. The trucks' headlights were tested in a straight line and in corners, while vehicles with high-beam assist were given extra praise. The headlights on the pickup trucks also mimic the testing that was done on small SUVs and cars earlier this year. Next year, automakers will need to fit their vehicles with headlights that earn a rating of either good or acceptable to earn the IIHS Top Safety Pick+. Related Video:
