I am selling my 2000 GMC K2500 Sierra SLT pickup.  I have owned this pickup for the past 6 years (80,000 miles).  It has been a great truck but needs to be moved on to make room for another one.  I have used it mostly for over the road towing.  The 7.4 liter, 454 runs strong and doesn't use any oil to speak of.  It has been maintained mostly by a local shop and I have all receipts.  I have tried to keep the oil changed every 3500-4000 miles.

I have done a number of performance modifications. It has a K&N air filter and a larger 3" muffler and exhaust that is in good shape.  I also had the computer programmed to get a few more horses and also made the transmission shift a little firmer (not much but a little to help the torque converter).

It has Michelin LTX/MS 2 tires with about half tread left and all in good shape (no broken belts, balanced and true)  It had the aftermarket rims and they still look fair.  If you get up close you can see some of the clear coat coming off, etc.

It has minor rust spots around (see pictures) but is in very good shape for the year.  I installed the running boards when I got it and they have a few rust spots but should go a while yet.  A few places the paint has chipped off.  GM had some issues with this and this truck is no exception.

It has a cap on the back and bedrug in the bed.  I used it to haul furniture so it is clean and nice.  The leather seats are in good shape for the year.  The drivers seat has rips starting but I have held them at bay with an epoxy glue that I have put on it to keep it from tearing all the way.  All power windows all work well.  The power door locks have never worked very well.  The drivers door lock works but the rest of the doors dont always lock with the key fob or the power lock button.  I have learned to just lock it manually.  It has 3 power plugs for lots of hookups.  I have a scan guage (see pic) installed that I will let go with the truck.  I used it to monitor transmission fluid temperature and speed (it is more accurate than the regular speedo).  All gauges work.  The radio works well.  The A/C blows cold.  The cruise works great.  I installed electric fans to replace the original power robbing manual clutch one.  It also has a larger (I think 200 amp) alternator for more electrical power for the electric fans, trailer brakes, etc.  I recently installed new headlights to replace the originals that were getting cloudy.

I installed a larger transmission cooler on it (because of the towing, see pic taken through grill) soon after I got it.  This has helped keep the fluid temperature down when towing.  The 4L80E transmission is known to be bulletproof.  I just got the Trans oil changed (2nd time since I owned it).  It has a heavy hitch (Class V).

It comes with 4 floor mats that are in good shape.

Please feel free to call or email with questions.  My number is 540-560-3290.

GMC Syclone spools up a storm on Jay Leno's Garage

Mon, Jul 27 2015

A storm was brewing on American roads in the early 1990s. That's when Detroit's automakers were producing some of the hottest performance trucks ever devised – models like the Ford Lightning, GMC Typhoon, and its flyweight pickup sibling, the GMC Syclone. Jay Leno just happens to have one of the latter in his garage, and took it out to showcase in this latest video segment. The Syclone was an exercise in absurdity, and could not only trounce any other pickup on the road, it could outrun anything else GM made and just about anything else on the road – beating Ferraris and Porsches off the line. In a pickup, for crying out loud. The kicker is that its engine wasn't such a monster, either: under the hood sat a 4.3-liter turbocharged V6 pumping out what would seem by today's standards to be an adequate 280 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque. Even the smaller of the EcoBoost V6s available in today's Ford F-150 produces more than that. But in a lightweight, compact pickup, those figures were enough to propel the Syclone to 60 in 4.3 seconds and run the quarter-mile in 13.6 seconds. Long before the dune-jumping Ford F-150 SVT Raptor or even the Viper-powered Dodge Ram SRT-10, GM made fewer than 3,000 Syclones based on the compact Sonoma (sister to the Chevy S-10) and another 4,700 of the Typhoon, which was mechanically similar but more practical (albeit heavier) wagon bodywork from the Jimmy. But as Jay aptly points out, the Syclone was the one you wanted. Scope it out in the ten-minute video clip above.

Watch the live reveal of the 2014 Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra [UPDATE]

Thu, 13 Dec 2012

UPDATE: The trucks have been revealed. Click here for all of the official details.
As promised, Chevrolet and GMC are offering a live webcast of the world premiere for the all-new 2014 Silverado 1500 and Sierra 1500. After being teased with spy shots and blurry images like the one above for ages, now is the time to see the trucks in the metal, for real (well, as 'real' as it gets on a webcast, at any rate).
Shift your eyes down just below to see the reveal as it happens, starting at 9:30 AM EST. We anticipate having loads of images full technical information to share after the webcast, too, so truck aficionados should stay tuned. We'll also be bringing you live images of both trucks too, when we see them on the show floor at next month's Detroit Auto Show.

2022 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra now cost more, again

Thu, May 26 2022

GM Authority put Chevrolet and GMC pickup truck prices under the microscope, spying the same macroscopic issues none of us can avoid seeing: Price increases. The 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 and 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 have been hit with their third price increases this year. The Heavy Duty versions of those same trucks have been given their fourth price increases this year. Starting with the light-duty options, they've been rung up for another $900 across the board, which breaks down to $800 added to the MSRP and $100 added to the destination charge. The mandatory cost for shipping a truck from the factory to the dealer is now $1,795. That destination fee is now more than 5% of the purchase price of the least expensive 2022 Silverado, the Regular Cab Work Truck trim with a Standard Bed and 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder retailing for $36,395 after destination. And that price is $3,200 more than the initial list price from last December. At the other end, the Silverado ZR2 is up $3,400. Average that out, and the Silverado's MSRP has gone up by nearly $700 every month since initial pricing came out. On the GMC side, the bidding starts at $37,195 for the Regular Cab Pro trim with a Standard Bed, a $4,700 increase over pricing announced last October.  Stepping up a tow rating or two, the Silverado HD is now $1,100 more expensive — $1,000 tacked onto the MSRP, the destination charge plumped another $100 to $1,795. The Silvy 2500 HD now starts at $41,295. The Sierra HD turns the screw a few more degrees, going up by $2,100 after the $100 increase for destination. The low bar for the Sierra 2500 HD is $41,995, a $4,100 rise over the price when it hit dealer lots last summer. Whew. Anyone know where the exit is for this "new normal?" Related video:
