 2014 GMC Sierra SLT

Up for auction due to upgrading to the diesel version. I have owned this truck for 8 months and 99% of the miles are highway miles. I am a territory sales rep in central Texas and the mileage is mostly I-35 between Austin and Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas. My employer is now paying 100% of fuel if we drive a diesel so I am selling this for a GMC 2500HD diesel version of this truck. Here is a snapshot of the truck's options:

  • 2.5" Rough Country LEVELING kit (not a lift kit)
  • 4x4
  • 275/65/20 Mickey Thompson ATZ P3 tires with 11, 600 miles on them (tires do NOT rub whatsoever)
  • 5.3L EcoTec3 V8 engine
  • 6 speed transmission
  • Leather seats
  • Front buckets with center console
  • Texas Edition
  • 20" Chrome factory GMC wheels
  • Navigation
  • Extended GM warranty (bumper to bumper) to 100K miles including oil changes/maintenance (paid $2500 extra for this)
  • Max tow package
  • tinted windows

Truck is 100% stock other than the leveling kit and tires. I wanted to level the front end of the truck and put the largest tires on possible without rubbing when turning so that is why I went with the 275/65/20s. I have my truck washed 2-3 times per week and keep it in mint condition. All service completed by local GMC dealership here in town. Truck has never been in any kind of accident, no door dings, not a blemish anywhere. I am very OCD about my vehicles and keep them extremely clean at all times. I paid $49,035 for the truck plus the full extended warranty which added right at another $2500 to the out the door price when I purchased. I have attached pictures of the window sticker and vin # if you wanted to check the options.

I incuded a few older pictures to try and convey the true color of the truck. It is a metallic grey but in certain sunlight looks black or like a really dark grey. It has just about every available option for an SLT truck except for moonroof. I debadged the truck when I first purchased it. (That means I took off the Texas edition chrome badges, the dealership badges, the 4x4 stickers from GMC that go on the rear of the bed, the chrome steps, etc to try and clean up the look of the truck) Feel free to ask any questions. I am not putting a reserve on this as I need to sell it. If you are in the Waco, Texas area (or passing through via I-35) let me know and ill arrange a time to meet you to check out the truck if you would like.

My reply to a question I had just now regarding fuel mileage on this truck:

==================================

It depends honestly on the speed I drive. I just went to a convetion in Amarillo, Texas last week and got 19.5 mpg running 65-67 mph. If I am in no hurry and set the cruise control on 59 mph I will get 21.4 hand calculated. If I run 60-65 mph and set the cruise I will get 19-20 mpg. Now if I am in a hurry and just trying to get home on a Friday running 80-85 mph (there is a toll road in Texas with a speed limit of 80 mph fyi) I will get 14.6-15 mpg hand calculated. Copy and paste the URL below into a new web browser for a screen shot of the mpg I got on my most recent Amarillo, Tx trip.

GM planning to put its fullsize pickups on a big diet, too

Fri, 19 Jul 2013

General Motors is just coming off a complete redesign of the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra for 2014, but in the US fullsize truck market, there is no rest for the weary. According to Reuters, plans are already unfurling for both trucks to drop pounds from their curb weight over the next few years, but this will unlikely be able to keep pace with the 700-pound diet targeted for the next-generation Ford F-150, a truck expected to debut late next year.
The biggest weight reduction for these trucks might not be available until the next full redesign, which will likely happen around 2019, but the article says that smaller updates could shave pounds in the meantime. Two examples given include an "aluminum-intensive" version of the Silverado that could shed 250 pounds and debut around the same time as the lighter-weight, aluminum-bodied 2015 Ford, and there is also talk of reducing weight for driveline components such as axles and driveshafts. These changes are all part of an attempt to meet strict new fuel economy standards coming in 2017, targets which will get even tougher in 2025.

GM is the latest automaker accused of diesel emissions cheating

Thu, May 25 2017

Volkswagen and Ram need to make room on the diesel-emissions bench for General Motors. America's largest automaker was accused in a lawsuit on Thursday of rigging hundreds of thousands of diesel trucks with at least three so-called defeat devices to ensure that the trucks would meet federal and state emission standards, even if they generated more pollution in real-world driving. According to the complaint, on-road emissions testing conducted for the plaintiffs found that Duramax-equipped trucks produced NOx pollutants, comprised of nitrogen and oxygen atoms, two to five times higher than legally permitted, and "many times" higher than their gasoline counterparts. The proposed class-action lawsuit was filed in federal court in Detroit on behalf of people who own or lease more than 705,000 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickup trucks fitted with "Duramax" engines from 2011 to 2016 model years. The lawsuit seeks remedies including possible refunds or restitution for lost vehicle value, plus punitive damages. It adds to legal problems for Detroit-based GM, which has already paid about $2.5 billion in penalties and settlements over faulty ignition switches linked to 124 deaths. GM joins at least five automakers whose diesel emissions have been scrutinized by regulators or consumers. They include VW, which has admitted to cheating; Mercedes-Benz parent Daimler; Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Peugeot and Renault. GM spokesman Dan Flores called the claims "baseless," and said the trucks comply with US Environmental Protection Agency emissions standards and California's own tough standards. Shares of GM were down 69 cents, or 2.1 percent, at $32.50 in afternoon trading, after earlier falling to $31.93. The GM lawsuit was filed by several law firms, including Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro, which helped reach multibillion-dollar settlements with VW on behalf of drivers and dealers. The case is Fenner et al v General Motors LLC et al, US District Court, Eastern District of Michigan, No. 17-11661. The named plaintiffs are Andrei Fenner of Mountain View, California and Joshua Herman of Sulphur, Louisiana. They said they would not have bought their respective 2011 Sierra and 2016 Silverado trucks, or would have paid less for them, had they known about the alleged rigging. Joseph Spak, an RBC Capital Markets analyst, in a research report said "negative publicity" from the lawsuit could drive buyers to trucks from Ford or even Fiat Chrysler's Ram.

Daily Driver: 2015 GMC Canyon

Mon, May 4 2015

Daily Driver videos are micro-reviews of vehicles in the Autoblog press fleet, featuring impressions from the staffers that drive them every day. Today's Daily Driver features the 2015 GMC Canyon, reviewed by Seyth Miersma. You can watch the video above or read a transcript below. Watch more Autoblog videos at /videos. VIDEO TRANSCRIPT [00:00:00] Hey, guys. This is Seyth with Autoblog, and I'm here in the 2015 GMC Canyon pickup truck. The version I'm in is about as bare bones as this truck gets. We've got a convenience group package, which means I have things like a remote lock and unlock. I've got a spray-in bed liner and then I've got the very tiny but still useful infotainment system, which allows for things like hooking up your phone, [00:00:30] Bluetooth streaming music from my iPhone to the sound system, things of that nature. Really there's not a whole lot here. What you see is what you get. The interior is pretty basic. We've got gray plastic. We've got black plastic. We've got these gray cloth seats which I actually kind of dig. They've got a cool shape. It's comfortable in terms of the interior but it's certainly not fancy at all. You go back and look into the segment and you look at offerings from Nissan and Toyota and you'll see that this really feels pretty [00:01:00] plush certainly compared to their base level trucks. We've got the 2.5-liter 4-cylinder in it. Still makes 200 horsepower and 191 pound feet of torque. It doesn't feel completely slow but I'll admit that some of that has to do with the fact that I have a six-speed to play around with. I'm revving it up a little bit higher than you normally would with a pickup truck. It's not fast. It doesn't mean that it's not a little bit fun to drive. [00:01:30] We've come so far in terms of overall ride quality, noise vibration and harshness and things of that nature in all pickup trucks that it's frankly surprising to see something at the very bottom end in terms of price of the market be as good as this is. I think that you're going to get a lot of people who are into the truck lifestyle who like the look. You're going to get a lot of people who are moving down from bigger trucks that still want to have a little bit of capability. Then with things with a truck of this nature where you're talking about a [00:02:00] sub-$25,000 price point, you're just going to get a lot of people who want a vehicle of any kind, kind of a budget vehicle.
