Leather Interior and carpet/floor is excellent, no tears/major stains. Body and paint are excellent. Alloy wheels excellent. Tires are poor to okay. Sound system-speakers CD excellent, has console built in VCR. Battery may be weak from sitting-jumped off after sitting 2 months, O'Rileys receipt for battery is 2 years old/Pro-rated 72month, get 40-50% off new battery if needed, holds charge a couple of days. Electric sliding doors-both sides, auto shut-off lites etc., requires strong battery. Power steering pump whines when started - fluid needs replaced - quiets some when warm. Alternator is fine, but has lifetime warranty w/ O'rileys. All books, manuals, receipts.
Dealer replaced: Water pump by pass tube assembly, upper intake manifold gasket set, thermostat & gasket, anti-freeze, air filter; March 2013. Also replaced spark-plugs and wires on back side. (All in all, replaceing that water pump by pass tube on back side - almost all Windstars have had to have this done - was @$800 job). Previously had all Ford warranty work brought up to date in 2012. After daughter got a newer car last summer van has sat for near 6 months. Power steering pump was whining when started last week, and was initially running rough; I think it needs to be warmed up and driven some, which I am getting ready to do. I am putting charger on battery and seeing if it will hold a charge more than a couple of days (holds 2 days now). UAW Chief Shawn Fain disrupts Detroit's labor tradition
Fri, Sep 15 2023He's known to quote the Bible and Nation of Islam civil rights leader Malcolm X. He's a social media fanatic who keeps the pay stubs of his union member grandfather in his wallet. And now, Shawn Fain is representing nearly 150,000 auto workers in one of the biggest labor strikes in decades. In taking action against all three Detroit carmakers, Fain, the head of the United Auto Workers, has remade the strategy of the union he leads, choosing a bolder, much riskier path than his predecessors after he won office by a narrow margin in a first-ever direct election earlier this year. The strike started as the clock hit midnight on Friday, and followed Fain's decision to open negotiations with Ford Motor, General Motors and Stellantis simultaneously and eschew public niceties involving choreographed handshakes that famously kicked off previous negotiating efforts. The strategy is not without risk. A weeks-long strike would hit workers who live paycheck to paycheck, while the Detroit Three automakers have billions in cash to withstand the walkout. Fain, 54, has made creative use of social media, appearances on network and cable news programs and alliances with high-profile progressive politicians such as U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders, to reframe the UAW's contract bargaining as a battle to re-set the balance of power between workers and global corporations. He has rebutted automakers' concerns about labor costs by pointing out that they have poured billions into share buybacks to benefit investors. "If they’ve got money for Wall Street they sure as hell have money for the workers making the product," he said. “We fight for the good of the entire working class and the poor." In lengthy social media talks to UAW members, Fain alternates quoting Bible verses with the use of charts and graphs to dissect wage and benefit offers from the automakers - details his predecessors kept behind closed doors during bargaining crunch time. Fain, in his unorthodox approach, ran what amounted to a public auction among the companies to push each one to top the other to avoid a costly walkout. Prior UAW presidents picked just one automaker to set a pattern for the other two. Over and over, Fain has told UAW members at the Detroit Three that they can reverse 20 years of wage and retiree benefit concessions, stop further plant closures and end a seniority-based, tiered compensation system that pays new hires as much as 44% less than veteran workers.

Autoblog's Adam Morath reports on this edition of Autoblog Minute. Show full video transcript text [00:00:00] Survey says, drivers that go green stay green. I'm Adam Morath and this is your Autoblog Minute. Ford commissioned a survey of 10,000 electric vehicle owners, posing the question: What would will you buy next? 92 percent of plugged-in Americans said they planned to buy electric again, citing a preference for clean tech and the instant power provided by an electric motor. But what about drivers who live in states with fewer or no plug-in incentives? [00:00:30] Autoblog spoke with Stephanie Janczak who works with electric vehicle technology at Ford: [00:01:00] [STEPHANIE JANCZAK INTERVIEW] Low gas prices and rising truck sales may have stalled EV adoption in the U.S. but Ford's survey shows high satisfaction amongst current EV customers. Begging the question, what will you buy next? Let us know in the comments. For Autoblog, I'm Adam Morath. Autoblog Minute is a short-form video news series reporting on all things automotive. Apollo Edition Mustang is a moonshot for charity
Wed, Jul 15 2015By putting a man on the moon, the Apollo Program stands as one of the greatest engineering achievements in human history. Ford is paying tribute to that massive triumph with the company's latest one-off Mustang for the charity auction at EAA AirVenure in Oshkosh, WI, on July 23. This Apollo Edition 'Stang is probably never leaving Earth's atmosphere, but it's going to shoot like a rocket down the road. The Apollo Edition starts as a 2015 Mustang GT, but project manager Melvin Betancourt from Ford Design comprehensively overhauls the pony car. The exterior is finished in a handsome mix of black and white, and the coupe also shows off some serious patriotism with the Stars and Stripes adorning the outside. In an especially clever touch, orange LEDs underneath are meant to make the bottom look like its heating up under re-entry. Inside, the leather upholstery gets upgraded with embroidery inspired by the Apollo Program. Whether trying to launch into space or go quicker through the quarter mile, weight is the enemy, and power is crucial. The Apollo Edition boasts carbon fiber parts for the rear diffuser, side sills, and some trim. The 5.0-liter V8 also gets a Ford Performance supercharger to take output to 627 horsepower and 540 pound-feet of torque. A set of six-piston Brembo calipers should help slow this rocket down, and 21-inch custom wheels add some style. "With this year's stunning Apollo Edition Mustang, we salute that spirit of American ingenuity with the quintessential American automobile – Ford Mustang." Edsel B. Ford II said in the special model's announcement. The coupe is the Blue Oval's eighth charity car to support the Experimental Aircraft Association. The seven before it have raised nearly $3 million for the group's work to get young people interested in flying.
