You're bidding on a 1970 Ford Torino GT 2-door hardtop fastback. It is an authentic GT, but has had some changes: The car originally came with a 351 c.i. 4-bbl., but years ago was switched to a 429 4-bbl. HiPo engine. The car also came with a 4-speed, but was changed by the first owner to an automatic drive so his wife could drive it, therefore the steering column has been changed and a plate now covers the 4-speed shifter tunnel.
The car also came originally yellow with black stripes, but was later changed to Grabber Orange with black stripes. The paint is several years old, but still in good shape for an everyday driver, but will need repaint if you're going to restore her. The car has 2 minor rust spots on the body as can be seen in the pictures. It has Power Steering, Power Disc Brakes and Factory A/C (not presently working). The glass is good, as are the floor pans and trunk pan. Someone began to strip and restore this car years ago, but undoubtly gave up on it. It would make a great car to restore back. The seats and all the trim are included. The engine runs good and the tranny shifts good, as well. However, the gas tank needs to be put back on (the tank is off now, but comes with the car). The seats are currently not in the car, but come with the car. They are in good shape with excellent cores. The bumpers are in good shape. The grille is complete, but the center needs to be put back on.This car has been in storage for a while. It will need to be gone through and is a great muscle car for a restoration! You WILL need to tow this car. The buyer is responsible for all towing/delivery methods and expenses. For any questions about other details and to arrange to see it, please call the owner, Jimmy Hammond at 256-762-6711 from 10 a.m.- 10 p.m. CST. NOTICE: This car is in Alabama, which is a NON-TITLE state for pre-1975 model cars, so a notarized Bill of Sale will be given. This is a state document that should be honored by all other states. However, please check with your state to make sure there will be no problems before bidding on it! Once the car is yours- it's YOURS! This car is being sold AS IS with no warranties! NOTICE: This car is for sale ONLY to citizens in the lower 48 continental US. Any other bids will be voided. This is also for persons with better than 5 positive Feedback rating. Anything lower than that rating, and your bid will be voided! Too many problems in the past has made this happen. |

BMW V8-powered Ford Model A is the definition of Hot Rod
Thu, 20 Jun 2013Today, hotrodding has a pretty staid definition. Take one classic American car, add one classic American V8, sprinkle with tire smoke and you pretty much have every hot rod to roll out of a shop in the last 40 years. Mike Borroughs knows it wasn't always this way. Once upon a time, getting your bucket to go faster meant grabbing whatever parts were lazing about the yard, bolting them together with a bit of ingenuity and laughing your way down the quarter mile. It's in that spirit that Burroughs built his 1928 Ford Model A.
Rather than turn to the tired flathead or the common Chevrolet small block, Burroughs plucked a 4.0-liter V8 from a 1995 BMW 7 Series. With 300 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque, the engine has no trouble shuffling the old A around town. He had to build a custom chassis to get everything to cooperate, but the result is a 1,500-pound heathen that looks built to harass dry lake beds. You can check it out in the video below. Be warned, the soundtrack by Hanni el Khatib may not be safe for work - awesomeness of this caliber rarely is.
XCAR stages epic drag race between Ford GT40, GT70 and GT
Mon, 19 Aug 2013XCAR has put together what it believes is a first - a drag race between Ford's legendary, Le Mans-winning GT40, the more recent GT supercar it inspired and the little-known GT70 rally car. The three mid-engined monsters were all built for very different purposes, and not surprisingly, they come to battle with very different powertrains.
The GT40 is powered by a thumping, naturally aspirated V8. This example, which looks like a Mark IV model, is likely powered by a 7.0-liter engine, although it's not entirely clear how much power it's putting down. The GT70, meanwhile, was Ford's response to the Lancia Stratos. Considering that the Lancia is one of the greatest rally cars in history and many of you are probably just hearing of the GT70 for the first time, you can imagine how much success Ford had with it. Only six were produced before a change in regulations doomed this mid-engined rally car.
The Ford GT, meanwhile, doesn't really need an introduction. 550 horsepower is on offer from a 5.4-liter, supercharged V8, which keeps the GT competitive even against more modern supercars. 60 miles per hour arrives in well under four seconds while the top speed sits at 212 mph. Not bad for a car that went out of production in 2006.
