1970 Ford Torino 2-dr. Hardtop Bucket Seats Console Gt Hood Good Solid Roller!! on 2040-cars
Woodstock, Georgia, United States
You are looking at a 1970 Ford Torino Hardtop that is a very solid rolling project car. This car would make for a very simple re-power with your drivetrain from your rusty or wrecked donor car!
This car is done in Hot Rod Black with a White Interior currently, but originally was Q-code Medium Metallic Blue with a Blue Interior.
I bought this car specifically for the 428 Cobra Jet engine and transmission that were in it. Somewhere along the line a date coded 428CJ and CJ C6 found its way into this car and I had a Cobra Jet car in need of a dated drivetrain so I bought this car just to pirate the engine and trans out of. It is an original F-code 302-2V, C-4 automatic car, there is now a 9 inch Rear underneath with a Traction-Lok in it that works well. Before pulling the 428CJ out of this car I did a few launches and this thing layed down 2 legs like nobody's business!! At some point a previous owner put a complete and decent 71 Torino GT White Comfortweave Bucket Seat interior in the car including the Console and Floor Shift Steering column. It is a very decent 'driver' interior! The Hood from the GT car also managed to finds its way over to this car. Car has some rust in the front floors up near the toe board, but is not terrible and the rest of the underneath to include floors, frame rails, etc are very solid!! The hood, fenders, doors, 1/4's and decklid are also solid as well. The left quarter panel was replaced many years ago with a NEW Ford panel and the right 1/4 had a small metal repair done down at the very bottom of it. The trunk drops have a little bit of rust; but are not terrible. Car also has a little bit of rust in the engine bay near the wiper motor; it is minor but I felt it worth mentioning. Overall this is a pretty solid project car(See Pics)!! Prior to me removing the engine and trans this was a tagged insured driver not some sort of car that had been laying out in the pasture. This car was a driver and could be again with a minimum of time and investment. If you have a rusty or wrecked car that has a good drivetrain this car could be for you as it is a solid platform to your build on or if you are looking for a home for that motor you had built that is just sitting waiting for the right engine bay to be dropped into then look no further!!! This is a Solid car that with a reasonable price where someone could end up making themselves a cool hot rod driver for short money. I have pulled all of the speed equipment (MSD, Fuel Regulator, Shift Light, etc) and the Aluminum wheels off the car since these pics were taken and it is being sold with a set of roller wheels on it. If the winning bidder was interested I do have some wheel and tires available as extra cost either American Racing Outlaw Aluminum wheels or Magnum 500's. I also have some drivetrain options available should you be interested including a good running 5.0 Roller Motor and AOD. This car is a solid rolling project for someone who is looking to put a little sweat equity into a vehicle and end up having a have cool cruiser with a very limited investment. If you look at the sum of just the parts on this car; (i.e. Complete 9 inch Traction-Lok rear end, Complete GT interior with Bucket Seats, Floor console and Floor Shift Steering Column, Solid Original GT Scooped hood) the big ticket items are worth what the price of the whole car is. This car is a great entry level Hot Rod that won't break the bank!! Please look at the pictures and ask any questions BEFORE you bid!! I want you to be sure of what you are bidding on and for us both to be satisfied with the Torino's described condition and its sale. I expect a deposit within 24 hours of auctions end and balance of payment within 7 days of auction end. This 1970 Ford Torino is a 44+ year old project car and as such is being auctioned 'as-is where-is' and 'as-described' with no warranties either expressed or implied. I have described this 1970 Torino project car accurately so please read the auction text and look at the pictures carefully and make sure this is what you want before bidding. If you are not sure please do not bid. I take my auctions seriously and so should you. Good Luck and Happy Bidding!!! My year in EVs: 8 electrics that are changing the car industry
Wed, Dec 1 2021The year 2021 will go down as an inflection point in the auto industry’s transition to electric vehicles. It's when many much-anticipated models became reality. No longer sketches or sketchy prototypes, electric vehicles appeared from all corners with everything from the Lucid Air to Ford Mustang Mach-E changing how we think about transportation. I managed to drive a lot of them, and as I went through my notes, I realized IÂ’ve got a mini memoir of the seminal EVs of 2021. HereÂ’s my take on eight of them. Hummer EV Easily the most over-the-top EV I tested this year. The 1,000-hp super truck lived up to the hype with its domineering presence, stupendous power and simply being a reincarnated Hummer. I took it for a short spin on- and off-road at the General Motors Proving Grounds in Milford, Mich., and was impressed with the airy cabin, removable sky panels and expansive touchscreens. Yes, I crab walked, which felt like steering a pontoon boat, though I can see why it would be useful. Lucid Air Dream Performance The most beautiful sedan I tested all year, EV or otherwise. Unlike the futuristic Mercedes EQS — which is quite attractive — LucidÂ’s car is a blend of mid-century modern interior aesthetics and classic European exterior styling. When I walked up for my test drive, someone who IÂ’m pretty sure was comedian Jon Lovitz was sitting inside and taking it all in. As it sat in the valet of a hotel in a wealthy suburban enclave north of Detroit, the Lucid drew more attention than any of the Mercedes, Cadillacs or Lexus models passing by. The driving experience was enveloping. Starting at $169,000 for the Performance model (reservations are closed), the Lucid I sampled packed 1,111 hp and 471 miles of range. From the precise steering to the comfortable suspension, the dynamics were spot-on. It's a formidable product, and all the more impressive given itÂ’s LucidÂ’s first. Chevy Bolt EV The Bolt was the most pleasant surprise for me. It handled well, offered low-to-the-ground hot hatch dynamics and the steering was dialed-in. Adding a crossover variant for the new generation was a smart play. On a summer morning where I went to a first drive of the Ford Bronco at an off-road course, my hour-long commute in the Bolt was an enjoyable appetizer. The Bolt was also my biggest disappointment due to its extensive recalls for fire risk. Ironically, I had the Bolt in my driveway when the initial recall went out for the previous generation (2017-19).
2013 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor Supercrew
Fri, 15 Mar 2013I'm not normally a pickup kind of guy, but the 2013 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor won me over nearly instantly. The street-legal trophy truck - there is really no other way to accurately describe it - is big, brawny and incredibly capable. Let's just say it's every bit the monster it visually portrays. I spent a week pretending I was one of Ford's Baja 1000 drivers, but lacking desert sand, I headed into the local mountains where a mild winter storm had dropped a couple inches of fresh snow on my favorite off-road park. The Ford was, for the most part, practically unstoppable.
Ford offers its SVT Raptor package on Supercab and Supercrew platforms with the five-foot, five-inch bed. The Supercrew I tested rides on a 144-inch wheelbase (about a foot longer than the Supercab). In addition to its cosmetic differences when compared to the standard F-150 - there isn't a young boy on the planet who doesn't think the matte black Ford grille is cool - the Raptor has a 73.6-inch track - nearly seven inches wider than the track on the standard F-150.
After upgrading the F-150 SVT Raptor significantly for the 2012 model year, there are only a few changes for 2013. The list includes standard high-intensity discharge (HID) headlamps, Hill Descent Control, forged beadlock-capable wheels, and the new matte Terrain color (aka "Desert Storm") option seen on my test model.
U.S. auto sales fall in July, as Detroit dials back on inventory, rental sales
Tue, Aug 1 2017DETROIT — U.S. carmakers said on Tuesday they continued to slash low-margin sales to daily rental fleets in July as General Motors, Ford and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles struggled to curb a slide in retail sales. July is on track to be the fifth straight month in which the annual pace of car and light truck sales declined from the same month a year ago, in part because of fewer fleet sales, analysts and industry executives said. July 2016 sales hit a strong 17.9-million-vehicle pace. GM said the seasonally adjusted annual sales rate fell to an estimated 16.9 million vehicles in July. At midmorning on Tuesday, GM shares were down 3.4 percent at $34.77, Ford was down 2.8 percent at $10.91, and Fiat Chrysler shares were down 0.3 percent at $12.05 in New York. GM sales dropped 15 percent from a year ago to 226,107 vehicles, as the company cut rental fleet sales more than 80 percent. The automaker said inventories of unsold vehicles at month's end were 104 days, down from 105 days at the end of June. GM has promised investors to reduce inventories to 70 days by year-end. Ford said its July sales dipped 7.5 percent to 200,212 vehicles, as it cut fleet sales more than 26 percent. Inventories fell to 77 days from 79 the previous month. Fiat Chrysler said sales dropped 10 percent to 161,477, as it also cut back sales to daily rental fleets. Among the top Japanese companies, only Toyota reported a year-to-year gain, with sales up 4 percent to 222,057 — just 4,000 units behind GM. Honda sales were down 1 percent to 150,980 — its first-quarter sales continuing to decline in North America but seeing a big increase in China. And Nissan sales fell 3 percent to 128,295. GM, Ford and Fiat Chrysler have cautioned that second-half financial results likely will be lower than first-half results, in part reflecting production cuts in North America and pricing pressures. The automakers this year have been deliberately dialing back sales to rental-car companies, which often generate little to no profit, while struggling to keep retail sales from sagging further, according to industry analysts. Industry consultant LMC cut its full-year forecast for new vehicle sales to 17 million vehicles. Automakers sold a record 17.55 million vehicles in the United States in 2016.
