1986 Ford Thunderbird-78,231.7 Original Miles Fix Or Parts on 2040-cars
Webster City, Iowa, United States
1986 FORD THUNDERBIRD-78231.7 ORIGIINAL MILES FIX OR PARTS DESCRIPTION -For your consideration is this 1986 Ford Thunderbird in used condition. I purchased this car about 3 years ago from the estate of the original owner with 58,598 original miles on it.This car has been a daily driver since I bought it. Last week on 7-17-14 I drove it home from work and parked it,a couple hours later I went out to leave and it wouldn't start. The car turns over fine but doesn't fire. I don't like working on cars and only do what I feel comfortable doing. I have a buddy that works on cars and he checked it out.He says the fuel pump is shot on the car. This is a tank mounted pump and would require dropping the gas tank to repair it. A local auto parts store says the pump is about $100 plus shipping. We found the gas pump safety switch in the trunk and it was not tripped. I even bypassed the switch and car will not start. The other issue is the drivers seatbelt stationary part(2nd to last pic) is broken. A spring inside must be broken belt will not lock in. I had a salvage yard search for one and they couldn't find it. The original radio was shot and I put a Pioneer stereo in the car. I'm going to keep the stereo so car will have no radio in it. Someone who likes to work on cars could get this running and get alot of driving out of it.Car has no dents but some rust along rockers. Air conditioning and heat both work fine. Car is located in central Iowa and can be picked up there. Half of payment due at auction end, balance paid when car is picked up. I have clear title and will sign it over when you pick up car. I would like the car gone within 30 days of auction close. Feel free to email or call with any questions. My cell is 515-297-1289 and ask for Don. Best to call after 3:30 central time |

These horribly misguided front-drive design studies nearly became the Mustang
Fri, 08 Nov 2013As we eagerly await the unveiling of the all-new sixth-generation Mustang, Ford has been giving us some great information over the past few months showing what has gone into shaping its venerable pony car. As many changes as the Mustang has gone through in its 50 years, though, it appears the fourth-gen model played a decisive and pivotal role in the car's future.
As is part of Mustang lore, the front-wheel drive Ford Probe was originally developed as a next-generation Mustang in the Eighties before cooler heads prevailed. The Blue Oval has just released a handful of images showing how bad things could have been - including a full-scale clay model of a front-wheel-drive Mustang (shown above). Fortunately, the FWD Mustang plan was scrapped and Ford went to work designing a rear-wheel-drive replacement for the Fox Body Mustang, with three design studies making it far enough to become full-scale models. These include the soft "Bruce Jenner" Mustang, the over-the-top "Rambo" Mustang and the middle-ground "Arnold Schwarzenegger" Mustang, which finally became the basis for the 1994 'Stang.
By early 1991, the design language of the fourth-generation Mustang had been worked out, and the rest, they say, is history. Scroll down for the fascinating press release telling the story of the fourth-gen Mustang, and be sure to check out the gallery of horribly misguided sketches and various design studies that were all on the table in the late 1980s.
Ford will keep Escape and MKC plant open an extra week to meet demand
Thu, Jun 8 2017Crossovers keep selling like popular pastries, and for Ford, that means it needs to keep production going. The company announced that, rather than the usual two-week shutdown, its Louisville, Ky., assembly plant will be open for one of those weeks. The plant builds the Ford Escape and Lincoln MKC, which Ford reports have had record sales. According to Ford, Escape sales through May are up 3 percent, and MKC sales are up 10 percent compared with last year. In total, the Escape has sold about 130,000 units through May, and the MKC has sold around 11,000. Keeping the Louisville plant open will allow the company to build an additional 8,500 vehicles. Ford stated that all other assembly plants will continue with the two-week shutdown as scheduled. Hot Wheels Ford Transit Connect is worth more if we keep it in the box
Wed, 06 Nov 2013If the 2014 Transit Connect is anything like it's utile current-generation predecessor, and we suspect it is, it will undoubtedly be one of the most functional vehicles in North America. Ford has used the occasion of SEMA to turn the TC in to things that both make use of that functionality, and occasionally sort of wreck it in the name of good old-fashioned fun. The Ford Hot Wheels Transit Connect most certainly falls into that second category.
Most TC owners might cite the vehicle's massive cargo capacity as its top positive trait, though in the case of this wide-bodied Transit said space has been sapped in the name of a 55-inch television screen, a massive Hot Wheels drag strip (continuing a popular theme at SEMA this year) and custom storage for dozens of models from one's personal hot wheels collection. Designers have also plucked the grippy Recaro seats from the Focus ST, and thrown in a pair of 18-inch tablet screens for connectivity on the go.
Naturally, the Transit Connect wouldn't be an appropriate SEMA vehicle, or Hot Wheels name-bearer, if it weren't wearing an eye-popping appearance package. Additional homage to the Focus RS can be found in the blazing blue and orange front fascia and bumpers, while 20-inch wheels make sure the wider (four-inches in front and six-inches in the back) Transit Connect sits just right. The 2.5-liter four-cylinder-engine that powers the Hot Wheels TC ensures that the concept is more show than go, but you probably had that pegged from your first look, anyway.
