1964 Ford Thunderbird Mild Custom... Flake/panel/candy Paint!!! on 2040-cars
Tulsa, Oklahoma, United States
This is a great T bird. I am the 3rd owner. 2nd owner whom I purchased car from had owned it since 1978. In that time the motor was rebuilt twice. Most recently about 20k miles ago. Car runs like a dream. Could drive across the country and back tomorrow! 390 with Automatic. All vacuum lines have freshly been replaced. Nothing is needed mechanically.
This car has power steering, power brakes, heat and AC (AC system needs to be flushed and charged) Gauges work, lights work. The small wing glass in rear are not functioning. They should just need new switches. However I have always just left them up. Everything else electrical and vacuum operated works well. The roof is new fresh paint. Custom Flake and Candy. Starts off with Silver small flake base coat. Then has 3 panels, lace in center and scales on outer panels. And Sunburst Panels on the side. Topped with a Blue candy and clear. Shines like crazy in the run. The rest of the paint job, is an older light blue paint job. It is not perfect, but fits the car well and looks good. There is one spot of rust on pass side rear quater panel. It can easily be patched and I am willing to negotiate that into the purchase if price is met. The trunk has zero rust, perfect shape. Floors, rockers, etc are solid. The hood as a could dings that can be seen in pictures. One around letters and one just above and to left of the T. I do have the missing letters and some other extra parts that go with the car. The interior is in great shape, Headliner is flawless, Seats and carper are a few years old, but OEM style replacements, so in great shape. There is a crack on top of dash, as many of these had. Glass is all great shape, as well as trim. This car is ready to cruise. Fly in, drive it home. I see no reason you cannot drive this car anywhere. It has great power, can easily cruise down highway at 85 and feel like your on a cloud. Any other questions, please ask before you bid. I can take more pictures if need be. If you are local or know someone local, I would be glad to show it. |

Ford recalling 390,000 cars over door latch woes
Fri, Apr 24 2015Ford is recalling certain Fiesta, Fusion and Lincoln MKZ vehicles due to faulty door latches, marking the latest in what seems to be a recurring issue for the Blue Oval. This is the third door latch recall from Ford in 2015, following a 213,000-unit recall in March and a 205,000-unit recall in January. This one, however, is significantly larger. A total of 390,000 units are affected, including Fusions and MKZs from model years 2013 and 2014, as well as Fiestas from model years 2012 to 2014. A "broken pawl spring tab" is the culprit, potentially keeping doors from latching shut. According to Ford, even if the door does shut, it could come open again without warning. The affected Fiestas were built between February 1, 2012 and May 31, 2013 at the Cuautitlan, Mexico factory. The Fusion and MKZ siblings, meanwhile, were screwed together at Hermosillo Assembly in Mexico between July 1, 2012 to May 31, 2013. Ford is aware of three minor reports of door malfunctions. In two cases, the door bounced back open, quite literally hitting drivers on their way out. In the third case, a door swung open of its own accord while a driver was attempting to park, hitting another vehicle. Ford will notify owners, who will need to report into dealers to have all four latches replaced. Scroll down for the official press release. Related Video: APR 24, 2015 | DEARBORN, MICH. FORD MOTOR COMPANY ISSUES SAFETY RECALL IN NORTH AMERICA FOR DOOR LATCH ISSUE ON FORD FIESTA AND FUSION, LINCOLN MKZ Ford Motor Company is issuing a safety recall for approximately 390,000 2012-2014 Ford Fiesta and 2013-2014 Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ vehicles for a door latch issue. The door latch in these vehicles may experience a broken pawl spring tab, which typically results in a condition where the door will not latch. If a customer is then able to latch the door, there is potential the door may unlatch while driving, increasing the risk of injury. Ford is aware of two allegations of soreness resulting from an unlatched door bouncing back when the customer attempted to close it, and one accident allegation when an unlatched door swung open and struck an adjacent vehicle as the driver was pulling into a parking space. Affected vehicles include certain 2012-2014 Ford Fiesta vehicles built at Cuautitlan Assembly Plant, Feb.

What an Atlas-based Ford F-150 might look like
Thu, 27 Jun 2013Just ahead of January's Detroit Auto Show, surprising rumors pegged Ford as revealing some sort of F-150 concept, perhaps as a hurried effort to deflate some of the buzz building around General Motors' new Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra twins, which were also making their auto show debut. Those rumblings turned out to be true, as Ford rolled into the Motor City with its Atlas concept (inset, right), touting the truck's bold styling as a precursor to the next-generation F-Series.
The show truck featured all kinds of clever details, including active wheel shutters and a front air dam that raised and lowered to improve aerodynamics while preserving off-road ability. It also had a genuinely snarly face. And it's that pugnacious snout that may well be on its way to production. The good folks at TopSpeed have worked up the plausible-looking artist's rendering above by cross-referencing the Atlas concept with what little has been revealed from recent spy shots. The look is toned-down pretty dramatically from the concept truck, but its Atlas roots are clear, with a massive three-bar grille and bracket-shaped headlamps hiding a next-generation EcoBoost engine. In the rendering, the show truck's deeply contoured hood and roofline have been ditched and larger, more traditional side mirrors have been fitted - all likely concessions in the move to production sheetmetal.
While Ford has yet to officially announce when it will unveil the 2015 F-150, all signs point to next year's Detroit Auto Show - one year after the Atlas shrugged off GM's new pickups.
