On Jul-18-14 at 21:14:25 PDT, seller added the following information:

The under carriage is solid and presents as new with the original factory undercoating still in place, exception is area of floor where driver's feet rest which needs repair. The suspension is level front to back and side to side, which is unusual for these cars. The car will run, but don't expect to hop in and drive it around. The gas tank was physically punctured thanks to a misplaced jack by a well meaning helper while in storage, so it is currently run off of a temporary small electric fuel pump using an attached pick up tube that can be placed in a can of gas. Gas and brake lines are original and like new. Original fuel pump is still in place as well. Points were adjusted and new coil installed. Car is virtually rust-free, but has small, fixable dents and creases, from storage. Car has the original coat of factory paint. Trunk compartment very solid. Interior all there and usable as is, but will need recovering, headliner needs replacing- bows are there. There are extra trim parts in the trunk, and a jar of small parts. It has factory air conditioning, but will that will need repair, including another compressor. All in all, this is a GREAT candidate for an amateur or professional resto: a very, very solid, Southwestern car that's never seen salt, is fully optioned, completely original and unmolested, and a rare color combo car. It is sold as is where is however, so if you have questions before the auction, or want to set up a time to see it, please feel free to ring me at 585 503 8962. My name is Dave. Thank you for all of the interest and to those of you bidding! Lastly- PLEASE- get a kid involved in this old car hobby, it's a wonderful way to bond, teach an appreciation of how things used to be made.. thoughtfully engineered.... and totally cool! Good Luck to All!

Hennessey completes first VelociRaptor SUV conversion [w/video]

Mon, 20 May 2013

Start with a Ford F-150 SVT Raptor as your base vehicle for modification, and chances are high that you'll end up with something pretty cool. Now, have those modifications done by professional lunatics Hennessey Performance, make the project turning the pickup into an ultra-long SUV, and the result stands a real chance of being a total kick in the ass. Let us present the Hennessey VelociRaptor then, in all of its awesomeness.
Hennessey has taken care in grafting a "Expedition style" rear cabin onto the Raptor, complete with an optional third row. The pictures we have show a cabin that's up to the fit and finish standards of the original Ford truck, too. The cab added over the bed also makes room for a massive load space out back, accessible via split out-folding doors and long enough for a person to lay down in (see video).
Mechanically, the truck-turned-SUV sticks with Ford's stock 6.2-liter V8, rated at 411 horsepower, or can be had with a supercharger and some 600 hp. Hennessey says the stock-motor VelociRaptor will run from 0-60 miles per hour in 7.5 seconds, while the hi-po version takes just 5.9 seconds. The SUV does take some of the off-road ability away from the Raptor, with the company saying it hasn't yet had the opportunity to test its capabilities. On-roading and "moderate off-road duties" are the current prescription.

This 2,000-hp Mustang is in serious need of wheelie bars

Tue, 25 Feb 2014

The Ford Mustang on the right is drag racing with the standard technique. The Mustang on the left, driven by David Measell, is using a new "rear bumper only" technique that evidently surprised everyone at the South Georgia Motorsports Park strip - including Measell.
Measell said his outfit just bought the car the week before the event, noting that it has more than 2,000 horsepower. Speaking of his "flying" run, Measell said, "We turned it up to dip on down," by which he meant they turned up the power in order to get his time down. Turns out all that power and all that traction sent the nose straight up into the air almost as soon as the race began.
He told an interviewer afterward that this was his first race in a "regular car" since he normally drives a pro-mod. "I like my wheelie bars," he concluded. You can see how he got there in the video below.

Ford sets world record for biggest Hot Wheels track loop

Fri, Apr 24 2015

Take Your Child to Work Day looks like a pretty amazing experience for a child if their parent works at Ford. For the recent event, workers at the Blue Oval set up the world's largest Hot Wheels track loop in the atrium of the company's Research and Innovation Center in Dearborn, MI, and launched toy cars from over three stories. The idea came from Ford dynamometer technician Matt West who had been building progressively larger loops with his son. This one was the biggest ever, though, with a ramp 35.5-feet high and a 12.5-foot loop to crush the previous record of nine feet, nine inches tall. Fittingly, the track was inaugurated with a Ford Mustang Hot Wheels car taking the first run. To support such a massive size, the Hot Wheels track fits into a plywood structure that's bolted together. Beyond just being fun and looking incredibly cool, the stunt was meant to teach kids about mathematics and engineering. Ford Sets World Record for Biggest Hot Wheels Car Track Loop in Support of Take Your Child to Work Day • To help children cultivate an interest in science and engineering, Ford attempted to set a new world record for building the largest Hot Wheels® car track loop as part of this year's Take Your Child to Work Day • Ford Mustang Hot Wheels car started at more than three stories high inside Ford Research and Innovation Center • Old record loop stood at nine feet, nine inches tall DEARBORN, Mich., April 23, 2015 – Ford ran circles around the old Hot Wheels® record loop as part of this year's Take Your Child to Work Day. When the effort was complete, Ford had made a world record attempt with a Hot Wheels car track loop that exceeded 12 feet tall. The world record attempt was the brainchild of Ford dynamometer technician Matt West, who had built increasingly large Hot Wheels loops with his six-year-old son Blade at their home in Monroe, Michigan. The attempt took place in the three-story atrium of the company's Research and Innovation Center in Dearborn in support of Ford's participation in national Take Your Child to Work Day. "It started as part-fun, part-physics lesson with my son at home," said West. "We built one in our playroom, and then built a five-foot- tall loop in our backyard.
