If you are looking for a very nice drivable and dependable T-bird, this is your car. Due to health reasons, I am having to re-evaluate my hobby. New parts include: gas tank, battery, 5 tires, air cleaner, fuel pump, tachometer cable, carburetor, wheel covers, fender skirts (not shown in pictures), some front suspension parts, dual exhaust system. Car comes with two tops--hard top with portholes and soft top. Both are white in color. There are some paint bubbles in the rear quarter panel (minimal).  Frame and substructures are in very good condition.  The tachometer, heater, and Wonder Bar radio work fine. Car has power steering. Car starts, stops, and drives exceptionally well.  This is not a show car but has the potential to be one. If you have questions, call 573-756-7263 and ask for Jim.  Best time is 8:30 a.m. or 8:00 p.m.

40+ cars that barely avoid the gas guzzler tax

Thu, 24 Jul 2014

The Gas Guzzler schedule, with mpg ratings and charges that haven't changed since 1991, lays out which fuel-swillers owe what to Uncle Sam.
I started thinking about the "Gas Guzzler Tax" - considerably less well known as The Energy Tax Act of 1978 - when I was driving Dodge's new Challenger SRT Hellcat last week. Unsurprisingly for a car that can burn 1.5 gallons of gas per minute at max tilt, theoretically able to empty a full tank of premium in about 13 minutes, the Hellcat will be subject to the Gas Guzzler Tax schedule when it goes on sale.

Ford Focus was best-selling nameplate in 2012

Tue, 09 Apr 2013

Last August, Ford made a few waves by claiming that the Ford Focus was, at that point, the top-selling car in the world. The automaker failed to account for variations of the Toyota Corolla wearing a different name (such as the Auris and Matrix), however. With official data from Polk coming in now, Ford is able to say that the Focus was, in fact, the best-selling nameplate in the world last year.
Using new-car registrations (which doesn't factor in fleet sales), the Polk data shows that a total of more than one million Focus models around the world. Strong sales in the US and China have led to a 16 percent increase in year-over-year Focus sales from 2011 that helped to create even more of a gap between it and the second-best global seller, the Corolla.
Ford also had the Fiesta and F-Series listed in the top 10 for worldwide nameplates, but what's even more impressive is the fact that the F-Series is only sold in North America. Scroll down to see the list (compiled by Ford using Polk data) of the top global sellers last year and a press release from Ford.

Watch Piquet and Mansell bend some sheetmetal in Ford Fusion GP

Tue, 12 Feb 2013

As we told you about before, there were four episodes planned for the Ford Fusion GP campaign in Brazil, and the whole series has now run its course. The Ford ads pit Brazilian Formula One driver Nelson Piquet against English F1 pilot Nigel Mansell driving the new Fusion, the two coming together again after their partnership at the Williams F1 team ended in a miserable state more than 20 years ago.
They're lined up for you below, in reverse chronological order. You should watch number three first, though, as it adds a bit more spice to the NASCAR action in the fourth.
