I'm listing this vehicle for an old friend. He and the car are in Rogue River, Oregon and I will direct all questions to him.

Up for sale is a rare "old school" 1955 Ford Thunderbird Rat Rod project car. It features a Ford 302 engine with C4 automatic transmission, power steering, new Edelbrock 4 bbl carb, two Recaro seats, custom headers and 14 inch wheels. Car body was removed from old gusseted frame and installed onto a beautiful rust free '55 T Bird epoxy coated frame, painted black. After extensive fender and floor rust repair, car was painted John Deere Blitz Black six months ago. Dash has been redone to accept three manual gauges - temperature, oil pressure and voltmeter for the alternator. All are installed in dash but only the voltmeter has been connected. Eastwood sound and heat insulating material has been installed over cockpit floor. Front '55 grille comes with car but is not installed as is second Recaro seat and a Model A rear bumper (if wanted). T Bird fuel gauge works as does electric tachometer. Grant custom GT steering wheel installed with operating horn. Turn signal harness needs connecting to wiring system. New brake lines installed throughout but not connected at rear. Front brakes work and there is no emergency brake. New fuel lines installed from tank to carb. Tank has been cleaned and has a new sending unit. Headlights and taillights work. Side lake pipes are not connected to the exhaust system but any decent muffler shop could take care of that. Engine runs strong, tranny shifts but may need adjustment when car is driven on the open road. It has only been driven around my property as it's not yet street legal.
What else is needed to complete the project? There is no heater or air duct system. Doors need glass and hardware. You need a hood, windshield, and top. All parts needed to complete the car can be obtained from T Bird catalogs except the hood and top. There was the perfect louvered hood available on E Bay ($200.00) and I have contact info for that and other original T Bird parts from vendors in Los Angeles and Iowa.
I purchased the car from an east coast dealership expecting to build a T Bird hot rod and have now run out of money in the process. I have the dealership title and bill of sale to me and will issue all documents to buyer to get car titled. In Oregon you don't have to pay for title unless car is driven on the street. Many (too many) thousands have been spent on this puppy and reserve is low. I can arrange shipping (at your expense) to 48 states and possibly international as well. This would be a fun car when finished and you don't see too many '55 T Bird Rat Rods on the road. E mail me with any questions. Since car will be advertised locally I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. Thank you and happy bidding.

New Ford Escape spied inside and out

Fri, Jun 26 2015

For the 2016 model year, the Ford Escape receives the Blue Oval's latest Sync 3 infotainment system and some minor tweaks to the color and trim options. Based on these new spy shots, it would appear that the crossover is due for some much bigger changes not too far into the future, as well. The thorough refresh isn't just an exterior styling update, either. Ford's designers are giving the future Escape a front end that's a bit more in the style of the latest Edge, at least based on these shots. Peek behind the mesh obscuring the grille, and the styling there now appears to have a hexagonal shape with horizontal slats and a smaller, lower intake. At the same time, the headlights are narrower and come to a sharper point as they wrap around the fender. The heavy camouflage makes the changes at the back harder to spot, although the taillights seem subtly tweaked with a similar overall shape but a clear stripe cutting through the center. The Escape also seems to be receiving a completely different center stack inside, but the area is still well concealed. The gearshift moves down between the seats, and that allows physical controls for the radio and HVAC to take that real estate. It's possible that the infotainment screen might pop up from the mesh-covered area you can see at the top of the interior photos. Take a look through the gallery for some detailed shots of Ford's camouflaged crossover.

Hybrid, electric campers take center stage at Germany's motorhome trade show

Fri, Sep 6 2019

Car companies from all over the automotive spectrum will make international headlines next week by presenting hybrid and electric cars at the biennial Frankfurt auto show. Camper van and motorhome manufacturers got a head start on the rest of the industry by presenting their green solutions at the Dusseldorf Caravan Salon. The show confirms electrification is present in the leisure segment, too. German camper experts Dethleffs introduced a plug-in hybrid, pop-top camper based on the full-size Ford Transit van. Called Globevan e.Hybrid, it relies on a 126-horsepower drivetrain built around a turbocharged, 1.0-liter EcoBoost three-cylinder engine. The system can power the camper on electricity alone for up to 31 miles. Adventurers who leave with a full tank and a full charge enjoy 310 miles of driving range, which is an impressive figure for the camper van segment. Charging the battery pack takes 5.5 hours when using a regular household outlet, according to the manufacturer, or three hours when hooking it up to a quick-charging station. Globevan production is tentatively scheduled to begin in 2020, and pricing starts at 75,000 euros, a sum that represents approximately $83,000. EFA-S took electrification a step further. Starting with a Fiat Ducato, a van known as the Ram Promaster in the United States, it yanked out the turbodiesel engine and replaced it with a 140-kilowatt electric motor fed by an 86-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery pack. The company pegs the camper's driving range at up to 186 miles, a relatively low figure which hardly reflects how most vacationers use their van. The pack takes four hours to charge, Auto Motor und Sport learned. While sustainable, zero-emissions tourism is difficult to argue against, the Ducato-based camper suffers from two serious setbacks. First, the battery pack makes it so heavy that it can't be driven with a regular license. It's considered a heavy commercial vehicle. Second, its 160,000-euro (about $177,000) price tag makes it twice as expensive as a diesel-burning model, and puts it in the same price range as much bigger, more powerful, and more luxurious models. EFA-S will nonetheless move forward with production in 2020, though it plans to build no more than 30 units. The caravan Salon is not only about hybrids and electric cars, however.

Watch NASCAR racer Brad Keselowski do a burnout... in a hotel conference room

Fri, 08 Mar 2013

A vast majority of hotels frown upon smoking inside the building these days, but Brad Keselowski doesn't follow the rules. During his introduction at the 2013 MiilerCoors Distribution Convention, the reigning NASCAR Sprint Cup champion smoked the tires of his Miller-sponsored Ford Fusion stock car, adding a pair of thick, black stripes to the carpeting of the Marriott World Center's conference room.
This definitely isn't a high-quality video, but it's the perfect vantage point to watch Keselowski lay down some rubber and receive a well-deserved standing ovation after pulling up in front of the crowd. Check out the short-but-sweet video posted below.
