‘55 T-Bird For Sale

My 1955 Ford Thunderbird Convertible is in excellent shape! It has no rust anywhere on the body or under the frame. It has the original 292 engine and transmission, (three speed manual with overdrive). There are approximately 78,000 actual miles on the car. I am the third owner and the car has been garaged the whole time I have owned it. I purchased the car in March 1970, the car had approximately 50,000 miles when I bought it. It is a California car, sold originally by a dealer in Los Angeles and the car has never been any farther from L.A. than San Diego, CA.

The engine is in excellent running condition, the transmission shifts perfectly and all the rubber bushings in the front suspension were replaced approximately four years ago, there are four new tires on the car purchased approximately three years ago and has not been driven more than 150 miles since. I recently had the radiator checked by a local radiator shop and it is in excellent condition. The paint is in very good condition as well as the interior. This is not a museum show car but is a very clean car in exceedingly good condition both mechanical and in appearance. The car has a new aftermarket convertible top, and I do not have the hard top. All the chrome parts on the outside are new or have been re-chromed. It has an after market radio in place of the original which I never had. The wheels have the original small hub caps which include the imitation spoke wheel covers. The fender skirts are in good condition and they will come with the car. All gauges are in good working condition. There is no Power Steering, Power Brakes or Power Windows on this car. There is only power seat. The switch under the dash is the power antenna for the radio. The car is raised high in the rear as a matter of my preference. I flipped the shackles over and they can easily be flipped back to the normal height. This car is an original not a replica. The color is not the original color and I had the interior done in the brown and tan colors. The brown is a heavy duty vinyl and the inserts are fabric. The yellow exterior is not the correct color, the original color was red.

I am selling this car because I do not drive the car as often as I like to. I would like to see this car go to a new owner that will give this car tender loving care as I have done over the past 31 years. I am starting the auction at $15,000.00, please do not contact me with any low ball offers they will not be appreciated or considered. Additional photos may be available on request. Buyer must pay a deposit of $500 within 24 hours of the auction ending through paypal. If buyer does not have paypal, buyer must make special arrangements with seller regarding payment method. The remaining balance must be paid at the time of pickup and no later than 7 days after auction. Please let me know if you have any questions as soon as possible so that I can get answers back to you before the auctions ends. You may also call me at (619) 660-0063 and leave me a message. Happy Bidding and Good Luck!

Detroit Three automakers and UAW will continue to require masks

Thu, Jun 10 2021

GM CEO Mary Barra at a Warren, Mich., training center in September. (Reuters)   WASHINGTON — Detroit's Big Three automakers and the United Auto Workers (UAW) union said on Wednesday that workers will continue to be required to wear masks in workplaces. The joint statement from the UAW and General Motors, Ford and Chrysler-parent Stellantis NV said it was continuing the requirements "out of an abundance of caution." The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said in May that fully vaccinated people do not need to wear masks in most instances, including at work. The UAW and the automakers said temperature screening upon entering facilities is expected to be phased out. The UAW and automakers continue to recommend autoworkers get vaccinated. Many U.S. employers are still requiring vaccinated workers to wear masks in workplaces. Volkswagen AG's U.S. unit said it will "no longer require masks for fully vaccinated employees after June 21, and will continue to follow CDC guidelines." Toyota is among the automakers that has ended temperature checks and entry questionnaires at U.S. plants but it is continuing to require facial coverings. Honda and Nissan said they had made no changes to their U.S. employee COVID-19 requirements.   Plants/Manufacturing Chrysler Dodge Ford GM Jeep RAM Safety coronavirus

Ford moving medium-duty F-Series production from Mexico to Ohio

Thu, 27 Feb 2014

A few more Ford trucks will be built in the US in the near future with news that production of the F-650 and F-750 medium-duty trucks will move from Mexico to Ford's Ohio Assembly Plant in Avon Lake, OH. Ford hasn't confirmed a precise timeline for the move, but The Detroit News claims the Blue Oval will make the shift later this year or in early 2015.
As Ford spokesperson Mike Levine reminded us, back in 2011, Ford announced in an investor release that it would shift production "after the [Ohio] plant stops current production of the Ford E-Series vans." According to that release, the Ohio factory will also receive $128 million in upgrades to build the new trucks, plus the F53 motorhome chassis and F59 commercial chassis.

For thousands of US auto workers, the downturn is already here

Thu, Jun 22 2017

LORDSTOWN, Ohio - Wall Street is fretting that the auto industry is heading for a downturn, but for thousands of workers at General Motors factories in the United States, the hard times are already here. Matt Streb, 36, was one of 1,200 workers laid off on Jan. 20 - inauguration day for President Donald Trump - when GM canceled the third shift at its Lordstown small-car factory here. Sales of the Chevrolet Cruze sedan, the only vehicle the plant makes, have nosedived as consumers switch to SUVs and pickup trucks. Streb is looking for another job, but employers are wary because they assume he will quit whenever GM calls him back. "I get it," said Streb, who has a degree in communications, "but it's frustrating." Layoffs at Lordstown and other auto plants point to a broader challenge for the economy in Midwestern manufacturing states and for the Trump administration. "This is about economics, not what Trump says. Even if Trump went out and bought 10,000 Cruzes a month, he wouldn't get the third shift back here." The auto industry's boom from 2010 through last year was a major driver for manufacturing job creation. The fading of that boom threatens prospects for US industrial output and job creation that were central to Trump's victory in Ohio and other manufacturing states. "This is about economics, not what Trump says," said Robert Morales, president of United Auto Workers (UAW) union Local 1714, which represents workers at GM's stamping plant at Lordstown. "Even if Trump went out and bought 10,000 Cruzes a month, he wouldn't get the third shift back here." Last week the Federal Reserve said factory output fell 0.4 percent in May, the second decline in three months, due partly to a 2 percent drop in motor vehicles and parts production. Mark Muro, a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, has compiled data from government sources that show the auto industry punching higher than its weight in job creation in recent years - accounting for between 60 percent and 80 percent of all US manufacturing jobs added in 2015 and 2016. In the first quarter of this year, the auto industry accounted for less than 2 percent of the 45,000 manufacturing jobs created. "There's no argument with the idea that auto has been pulling the manufacturing sled up the mountain for the last three or four years," Muro said.
