This 1997 Taurus is in super clean condition. Has been owned by a single family and always driven gently. There are no oil leaks and it does not burn oil. All fluids have been kept
clean throughout history. Carfax report shows each and every service done at regular 3000 mile intervals at FORD dealer and last two years at a reputed FORD shop. Has had a complete recent tune-up, NEW TIRES put on and suspension work upgraded as suggested by dealer. Just spent $500 updating smog control system and it passes smog easily w very low emissions.(Certificate on hand). Very quiet and smooth V8 3.4L on idling and in driving.Transmission is super smooth and has had fluid changed every 30k miles. The body and interior is all original. Outside is a 9 out of 10. Interior is super clean leather except for torn seam on drivers seat bottom portion.Still looks good overall. CD changer in trunk. Detroit 3 small cars lay an egg in latest Consumer Reports reliability study
Tue, 28 Oct 2014Consumer Reports has released its Annual Auto Reliability Survey and the results are, in a word, interesting. While we already covered the score-damaging effects of infotainment systems, there's another big angle to the data that's getting some attention - the utterly dismal scores of the Detroit Three's small car offerings.
The turbocharged Dodge Dart and Chevrolet Cruze, as well as the Ford Fiesta were their respective brands' lowest-scoring models, a stat that's made worse by the fact that the American automakers finished 25th, 21st and 23rd, respectively.
That's not acceptable for The Detroit Free Press' auto critic, Mark Phelan, who has penned a scathing critique of the D3's small car reliability scores, arguing that GM, Ford and Chrysler are "out of excuses."
Ford dinged by OSHA for asbestos at Buffalo plant
Sat, 20 Jul 2013Ford has come under fire from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) for violations regarding asbestos exposure in a company metal stamping plant in Buffalo, NY. OSHA has cited Ford for eight violations in total, according to an Automotive News report, and faces fines of up to $41,800. 537 workers are employed at the stamping facility.
The violations include a pipefitter at the facility being exposed to asbestos-containing material while working on a steam line, other workers exposed to the material without respiratory protection and work areas that were not designed to limited the number of workers in contact with asbestos. Further, areas in which asbestos was present were not properly restricted, and levels of asbestos in the air were not monitored.
According to an unnamed Ford spokesperson in the AN report, the company feels that the OSHA citation is erroneous saying, "We have fully cooperated with the local OSHA officials and we don't believe the citations are warranted." Ford also maintains that it will work with the authorities to resolve the issue.
