Here is a 1993 Ford Ranger Sport 4x4 Turbocharged 5 speed, the motor is out of a 1988 Ford Thunderbird Turbocoupe and has the LA3 ECU and "big vam" and 35lbs injectors. The transmission and transfer case are the 3.0 liter set up adapted to fit the 2.3 turbo. It does not burn or leak engine oil or transmission fluid. All the stock gauges work fine. This truck is a great truck that has many upgrades like: front mount intercooler, roller cam, 3" exhaust front to back, new clutch, HID headlights, Audi blow off valve, tow hitch, and more I am probably forgetting.

The truck features manual door locks and windows, (stock) AM/FM stereo, power steering, opening rear window, push button 4x4, cloth interior, vinyl floor (hose out floor).

The truck runs and drives great and is currently set to about 12psi boost, it has a slight tendency to overboost under the hardest acceleration. It may be a bad waste gate actuator diaphragm. The seats are a bit dirty and could use a shampoo, There is a power steering leak in the steering box at the pitman arm seal. One of the rear tires looses are about 3-5psi per week. There is no rear view mirror. The check engine light comes on periodically because the EGR has been deleted. As far as the body, I would give a 6 out of 10 mostly because the tail gate is beat up a little, and there is a couple of deep scratches, there are no significant dents or gashes. The front bumper has some rust spots. There is an area of the bed on the drivers side that has some paint fading showing the original 90's looking graphics that have been removed (buff out maybe???)

Overall this is a great little truck that will more than get out of its own way. The brakes are new and stop on a dime. The push button 4x4 is amazing for whatever you need to drive in. Everything is smooth and undramatic, this truck could and has easily been a daily driver but could also be an ultra nice truck with a little buffing and polishing and maybe some paint work. I have owned this truck for 2 years and it has started on the coldest of winter days and stayed cool on the hottest of summer days, it is a totally reliable vehicle.

Ford Australia launches Falcon GT F 351, last of its line [w/video]

Sun, 15 Jun 2014

It's always best to go out with a bang rather than a whimper, and Ford Performance Vehicles is doing just that in Australia with the Falcon GT F 351. It's the most powerful road car the Aussie performance brand has ever made with a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 pumping out 471 horsepower (351 kilowatts) and 420 pound-feet of torque. It's joined by the FPV Pursuit Ute with the same powerplant tuned to 422 hp and 402 lb-ft. Sadly, the last F in this Falcon's name stands for Final.
The GT F 351 is a monumental way to go out, though. It harkens back to the old days of Aussie muscle Fords, and the 351kw output is meant to reference the classic Falcon GT and its 351-cubic-inch V8. In addition to the massive power, the F has the improved suspension from the R-Spec model and Brembo brake calipers.
FPV is building just 500 GT F sedans for Australia and 50 more for New Zealand, plus 120 Pursuit Utes. They feature a blacked-out hood and black stripes over the hood and sides, plus gloss black accents around the headlights, door handles and mirrors.

1979 Dodge Li'l Red Express in Generation Gap showdown with 1933 Ford Pickup

Fri, 18 Jul 2014

Auto enthusiasts love a good debate, whether it's Mustang versus Camaro or Ferrari against Lamborghini. But how about a battle between two very different vintages of classic pickup trucks? In this case, the fight is between a 1979 Dodge Li'l Red Express and a 1933 Ford Model 46 truck with a flathead V8.
The shootout comes courtesy of the internet series Generation Gap, and its concept is super-simple. One guy prefers classics, and the other likes newer rides. They choose a category, pick two vehicles and put them head to head. In this case, neither is exactly modern, though. The Ford is more than old enough to receive Social Security checks, and the Dodge is hardly a young whippersnapper.
Other than both being pickups, these two models were made to serve very different functions. The Li'l Red Express was basically the progenitor of today's muscle trucks, with a big V8 that made it one of the quickest new models in its day (admittedly, 1979 was a rough time for automotive performance). On the other hand, the '33 Ford was just meant to work, with little pretense for anything else. One of the hosts describes it as "the simplest, most difficult" vehicle he's driven because of the tricky double clutchwork necessary to shift gears. Scroll down to watch the video and try to decide which of these two American classics you would rather have in your garage.

Ford, GM to collaborate on 9- and 10-speed transmissions

Mon, 15 Apr 2013

Back in October, there were reports that General Motors and Ford Motor Company were hard at work co-developing new nine- and ten-speed automatic transmissions, and now both automakers have confirmed this joint operation. While there are no specific vehicles mentioned to receive either transmission, a collaborative press release issued by GM and Ford mention that the transmission will be designed for front- and rear-wheel-drive cars, crossovers, trucks and SUVs.
These aren't the first powertrain components developed jointly between these cross-town rivals, either. The six-speed automatic currently used in vehicles like the Ford Edge, Ford Fusion, Chevrolet Cruze and Chevrolet Equinox was engineered in a similar fashion. As is the case with this existing transmission, both automakers will assist in the design, development and testing of the new transmissions, but each will build its own units in its own factories. Scroll down for the official press release.
