Attention to all of Oldshep12's awesome customers,,, My father is no longer able to list all of the Fobs from his 50+ year collection or other select items he's selling. I am Doug Simon (ebay ID markmartinstheman), Ed's son & the one who helped him with his selling on ebay. I have been doing ebay since 1999, and have done over 5,000 transactions with great success, but mostly in the automotive area,,, and though dad & I were involved with collecting fobs together when I was younger, I haven't been involved with them since the 70's,, so PLEASE bare with me on my knowledge on all of his items. At some point, ebay may require me to sell his items from my own account (markmartinstheman), so for now I'm basically trying to introduce myself with all of dad's faithful customers. All of the proceeds from dad's items are to help out my mother. Thanks,, if you have any questions on items, please ask,, email me or you can call me on my cell (319) 389-8507  10am-11pm central time (evenings are better since I'm usually home after 6pm)

This auction is for:

(1)   Low Mileage "99 Ford Ranger" Ext. Cab, 62K, 2 wd, 4 dr.

This was dad's very nice "LOW MILEAGE" 1999 Ford Ranger XLT that he took very good care of(well maintained) and kept in a garage. Presently, it only has 62,602 miles on it. It is a 2 wheel drive, Extended Cab with 4 doors. The receipt for the matching topper said it cost around $1,100. Dad had also updated the rims, with (5) nice 16" aluminum wheels(including the spare). The Cooper tires are also in very good condition.

I'm a 32 year mechanic, with the last 5 yrs. at a large used car lot, where I go through vehichles making them right/safe.

Today I put dad's truck on the hoist & checked it all over. The truck looks to be in very good condition,,, and like every other vehicle, it has the normal rust coating on everything underneath the truck,, BUT, there are no signs of any major rust anywhere that I saw,, everything looks very solid!

This truck has a Disc/Drum brake setup on it,,, and there's approx. 60-70% left on the brakes,,, the insides of the front rotors are rusted from sitting,,, but there is no pulsation during braking(very good feeling brakes).

The underside of the truck looks very good,,, very dry,,, not coated with oil. The exhaust is still the factory stainless ex. with the exception of a Magnaflow Muffler,,, so the truck has a slight rumble,, but not too much(dad was in his 70's).

Under the hood looks very good also,, just the normal light dirt. I changed the oil today,, and cleaned the $50 Amsoil, nano-fiber air filter(keep this clean with light air pressure & it should outlast the truck, this is the best air filter you can buy,, high flow rate, but yet it's 98% efficient @ 2 microns.

All of the fluids looked good(I topped them off), and so does the Serp. belt. The battery has also started the truck up every time,, even after sitting a week.

Of coarse the topper is removable,, and as you can see in the picture,, there are a couple of sand bags in the back along with a full rubber floor mat, rug & a set of jumper cables(all included). The tail gate works just fine, and so do the topper's back window(with a slight finessing to latch it).

Overall the condition of the exterior is pretty good for it's age,,, there is a slight amount of body rust,, but not that much, and not that bad at all. When you look at the pics,, the worst spot is on the right-rear wheel well lip,, but even that's not that bad,, but you be your own judge.

The interior is in very-very good condion,, everything seems to be in good condion & is in working order(not sure about the casset player). The AC works great,, along with the radio & AC/Heater selectors. The windows are hand crank,, non electic,,, they work just fine, but the driver's side one pops a little, right at the top when closing,, but it closes just fine.

Don't let the age of this truck fool you,, it's a great truck!!  Low mileage trucks like this sell for 6k and above on the car lots around here,,, SO you can Save BIG Here!!!

You Must Pay for this truck when you pick it up,, I will NOT take any personal checks for this item,, and I will NOT accept payment through Paypal,,, unless you want to pay that 3% fee! You can contact me here(through an email question), or call 1-(319)-389-8507,,, 10am-11pm (Central time)

The truck is to be picked up at the shop where I work ( 150 7th Ave. Marion, Iowa 52302 (by Cedar Rapids, Iowa) within 7 days of the end of the auction, UNLESS otherwised arranged with me(DOUG) before the end of the auction!

2023 Grand National Roadster Show Mega Photo Gallery | Hot rod heaven

Wed, Feb 8 2023

POMONA, Calif. — From an outsider's perspective, it would be easy to assume that the Grand National Roadster Show has always been a Southern California institution. After all, it celebrates the diverse postwar car culture of the region — hot rods, lead sleds, lowriders, and more. However, the show had its roots in NorCal in 1950 when Al Slonaker and his hot rod club showed their custom cars at the Oakland Expo. The GNRS moved to Pomona, California, in 2004. By then it had grown exponentially and seen about a dozen more car customization trends come and go. However, the show and its centerpiece award, the America's Most Beautiful Roadster prize, celebrate what is perhaps the first of those trends: the American hot rod in its purest form. Today, in its 73rd year, the GNRS is the oldest indoor car show in America. Annually it welcomes 500-800 cars, gathered into special themes like Tri-Five Chevys or Volkswagen Bugs. At this year's show, which was last weekend, a special hall was dedicated to pickup trucks built between 1948-98, including mini-trucks, groovy camper bed conversions, and resto-mods.  However, of all the vehicles presented, only nine are eligible for the America's Most Beautiful Roadster award. Winners get their names engraved on a 9-foot-tall perpetual trophy that was, according to The Ultimate Hot Rod Dictionary, the largest in the world when it debuted in 1950. Slonaker chose the word "roadster" initially because "hot rod" bore slightly negative outlaw connotations in 1950. Only American cars built before 1937 of certain body styles — roadsters, roadster pickups, phaetons, touring cars — are eligible, and they cannot have roll-down side windows.  Cars in the running for the cup cannot have been shown anywhere else before their debut at the GNRS.  Contestants for this accolade essentially build their cars to the a platonic ideal of a hot rod. This year the honors went to Jack Chisenhall of San Antonio, Texas, for his "Champ Deuce," a 1932 Ford Roadster. It's exactly what you picture when you think of a hot rod, but distilled to its absolute essence.  Other standouts included "Green Eyes," a two-tone green 1959 Chevy El Camino  with a heavily metal-flaked bed, "Blue Monday," a 1964 Buick Riviera lowrider, and a personal favorite, "Purple Reign," a purple and black 1951 Mercury. Cars may have started out as tools, but there aren't shows like this filled with custom refrigerators.

Ford gets colorful with Mustang anniversary infographic

Thu, 24 Oct 2013

Preparing to celebrate its 50th birthday, the Ford Mustang has seen a lot of vehicle trends come and go, and this especially goes for paint colors. Using historical production data, Ford has managed to create an infographic dating back to 1967 that breaks down the three top Mustang colors for each year as well as calling out some of the more interesting trends and colors over the years.
Over its five generations, the Mustang has been offered in a seemingly endless rainbow - from Playboy Pink in '67 and color-changing Mystichrome on the 2004 Cobra - but the most popular has always been red, which is the color of choice for 21 percent of all Mustangs ever made. Almost every year since 1967, red has been among the top three colors for the Mustang, but other popular colors have included blue, white, brown and, most recently, black. There are even websites and registries available for people owning certain-color Mustangs.
As the all-new 2015 Mustang gets ready for its debut later this year, there's no telling what kind of exciting and/or wacky colors Ford has in store. Click on the image above to see the full infographic (choose the "large" option for optimal viewing), or check it out in a smaller size along with the press release posted below.
