YOU ARE LOOKING AT A VERY NICE 2004 FORD RANGER EDGE III EDITION THAT WAS INVOLVED IN A MINOR FRONT END ACCIDENT RECENTLY. IT IS AN EXTRA CAB 4 DOOR 2WD TRUCK WITH A SHORT BED. BELOW IS A BRIEF DESCRIPTION:

EXTERIOR: BLACK PAINT APPEARS TO BE ORIGINAL AND IS IN REALLY NICE SHAPE TO BE 11 YEARS OLD. WE ALL KNOW BLACK SHOWS EVERYTHING, SO NOTHING IS HIDDEN WITH EXTERIOR. BESIDES THE FEW PIECES NEEDED ON THE FRONT END, THE REST OF THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS ONLY MINOR SCRATCHES, , TWO DENTS TO MENTION, ONE IN THE HOOD AND ONE IN THE LOWER BEDSIDE, BOTH CAN BE PUSHED OUT WITH NO PAINT WORK REQUIRED. FAR NICER THAN THE AVERAGE TRUCK I'VE SEEN. AS FOR THE DAMAGE, TO BE BACK TO FACTORY CONDITION, IT WILL NEED---GRILLE, BUMPER ASSEMBLY, HEADLAMP MOUNTING PANEL, LEFT HEADLAMP AND TURN SIGNAL. THE LEFT BUMPER BRACKET CAN BE STRAIGHTENED, THE FENDER CAN AS WELL, IT JUST HAS A KINK IN IT. PAINT THESE FEW PIECES, BOLT THEM ON, AND YOUR DONE. IT'S FROM FLORIDA, SO IT'S RUST FREE AND VERY CLEAN UNDERNEATH. TRUCK CAN BE FIXED IN A DAY. ON THE OTHER HAND, I DROVE IT UP THE ROAD AND BACK, IT RUNS AND DRIVES FINE AS IT IS. SO IF YOU WANTED TO, JUST DRIVE IT THE WAY IT IS. I PULLED THE BUMPER FORWARD AND ATTACHED THE LOWER VALENCE SO IT WOULD CLEAR THE TIRE AND SAVE THE BUYER ON SHIPPING MAYBE. SO I DON'T SEE ANY REASON WHY YOU CAN'T BRING A TAG AND DRIVE IT HOME. BEDLINER LOOKS AS IT HAS BEEN IN TRUCK SINCE NEW, HAS HITCH ALSO.

INTERIOR: INSIDES ARE NICE, BLACK AND GRAY. HIGH BACK CLOTH BUCKET SEATS WITH A CONSOLE. NOTHING RIPED OR ABUSED, LOOKS LIKE WITH A QUICK CLEANING, IT WOULD BE PERFECT. RUBBER MAT FLOOR INSTEAD OF CARPET, EASY TO TAKE CARE OF.  ALL POWER WINDOWS, LOCKS, ETC WORK AS THEY SHOULD. A/C IS ICE COLD, HEAT HOT.  INSIDE REAR DOOR HANDLE IS BROKEN AND WON'T OPEN ALL THE TIME, A COMMON PROBLEM ON THESE. EASY REPLACE, $40 FOR THE HANDLE, AND ANOTHER $40 LABOR TO INSTALL.

DRIVETRAIN: THESE 3.0 LITER POWERPLANTS HAVE GOOD POWER, GREAT RELIABILITY, AND STILL KEEPS GOOD GAS MILEAGE. THIS ONE HAS 132,000 MILES AND RUNS FLAWLESSLY. NOTHING UNDER THE HOOD OUT OF ORDER, VERY DRY, NO LEAKS OR ANYTHING WET, I DO NOT CLEAN THE ENGINES OF MY VEHICLES BEFORE I OFFER THEM FOR SALE, SO YOU CAN SEE HOW THEY REALLY ARE. TRANSMISSION IS THE FIVE SPEED AUTOMATIC, COMPLETELY REBUILT TOP TO BOTTOM AS OF THIS YEAR, ONLY A FEW THOUSAND MILES SINCE DONE. I'M TRYING TO GET A COPY OF THIS AND SHOULD HAVE THE PAPERWORK BEFORE THE AUCTION'S END TO GO TO THE NEW OWNER. TIRES ARE NEW COOPER 235/70/16 RADIALS WITH ABOUT 500 MILES ON THEM.  JUST HAD NEW PADS, ROTORS, AND SHOES DONE ALL THE WAY AROUND, SHOULD NEED NOTHING MECHANICAL.

PLEASE UNDERSTAND, THE TITLE IS CLEAR, NOTHING EVER REPORTED ABOUT THE DAMAGE DUE TO THE TRUCK NOT HAVING COLLISION INSURANCE ON IT WHEN THIS HAPPENED. I JUST DON'T HAVE TIME TO FIX IT, SO I'M OFFERING IT FOR SALE AT A LOW RESERVE. THE NEW OWNER CAN PIECE IT TOGETHER FOR CHEAP WHILE DRIVING IT DAILY AND HAVE A VERY NICE RIDE AT A DISCOUNT. BE ADVISED, MOST OF MY AUCTIONS END EARLY WITH A REASONABLE OFFER, SO IF YOU WANT THE TRUCK, DON'T WAIT UNTIL THE END AND MISS OUT, CONTACT ME WITH YOURS. TRANSMISSION REBUILD, TIRES, AND BRAKES ALONE WHERE THOUANDS OF DOLLARS TO DO, SO NO LOWBALLERS PLEASE. CHECK MY FEEDBACK, I DESCRIBE MY VEHICLES VERY HONESTLY AND ACCURATELY WITH NO PROBLEMS. IF YOU HAVE A FEEDBACK SCORE OF 10 OR LESS, OR MAYBE A NEGATIVE SCORE, CONTACT ME BEFORE BIDDING OTHERWISE IT WILL BE CANCELED. SORRY, BUT  I HAVE HAD COUNTLESS PROBLEMS WITH THIS OF LATE. YOU DON'T HAVE TO ASSUME OR GUESS ABOUT ANYTHING ON THIS TRUCK, JUST SHOOT ME AN EMAIL AND I'LL ANSWER IT QUICKLY AND ACCURATELY. THANKS FOR LOOKING AND TAKE CARE.

Ford sticking with manuals for RS models

Wed, Feb 4 2015

Traditional stick-shift gearboxes may be losing ground quickly to dual-clutch transmissions, but Ford knows what hot hatch enthusiasts want. That's why it's sticking with manual transmissions on its RS models for the foreseeable future. The Blue Oval automaker caught our attention yesterday when it revealed the new Focus RS, packing an upgraded version of the turbo four from the Mustang, a trick new all-wheel-drive system and an old-school six-speed manual. After speaking to Ford's product chief Raj Nair at the hot hatch's launch, Autocar reports that the six-speed is here to stay. "All our current research says that customers really like these kinds of cars to have a manual gearbox," Nair told the British publication. "We'll keep looking at market trends, and of course we'll give customers what they want, but for now the manual stays." Autocar further suggests that the same principle will apply to any further Rallye Sport models, so if and when a Fiesta RS rolls around, it's likely it will stick with a stick as well. Although the less potent Focus ST is offered in diesel and wagon forms overseas, wherever it's sold and in whatever form, the six-speed stays a constant in that model as well, just as it does in the smaller Fiesta ST. That doesn't mean that other Ford Performance models won't go without a clutch pedal, though. The new GT employs a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox and the new F-150 Raptor channels its muscle through a ten-speed automatic. But as far as Ford's hot hatches go, it looks like the manual will remain alive and well. A cool boost to turbocharger performance

Fri, Jul 17 2015

Since the advent of the forced-induction engine, we have been looking for ways to get every drop of performance we can. There are many approaches to getting additional power using better intercooling, water injection, or even adding nitrous oxide. One take on a short instant burst of power is being researched by Mahle and involves providing supercooled air to an engine, which allows it to burn a leaner fuel mixture and produce more power. The supercooling idea is not new and was examined by Ford in 1993 on the Mustang Mach III concept car, then brought up again in 2003 with the SVT F-150 Lightning concept. Ford called its system the SuperCooler; it was designed to work with any turbocharged or supercharged engine equipped with a water-to-air intercooler. The system on the Lightning concept used a small tank of antifreeze that was hooked up to the truck air conditioning compressor. The air conditioning compressor cooled the antifreeze down to about 30 degrees. The other side of the tank was hooked up to the air-to-water intercooler, which usually had a temperature over 100 degrees. Once the antifreeze was circulated from the tank into the intercooler, it would lower the intercooler temperature and provide for a cooler, denser air charge into the engine; the result was around 50 extra horsepower for a burst of about 30 seconds to a minute, depending on the size of the tank. The system for the Lightning was to be offered as a $750 option and would have been targeted towards drag racers and the like, as it could be used for a run down the drag strip and then re-cooled by the time the truck was back in line. The system was fairly non-intrusive – it only weighed about 25 pounds and did not require a new compressor or intercooler. But as with many concepts, it was ultimately scrapped. The technology was always stuck in the back of my mind, but with larger and more powerful engines being produced it could not find its place. With the advent of new fuel economy standards, we have seen small-displacement turbocharged engines pop up and they seem like the perfect candidate for this type of technology. Ford's EcoBoost 1.0-liter three-cylinder turbocharged engine, as used in the Fiesta and Focus, is one such candidate for this technology. It would add a negligent amount of weight but could provide a boost of 10 to 20 horsepower when needed, like merging onto the highway or catching up to traffic.

Ford confirms Everest SUV production for China

Sat, 19 Apr 2014

According to Ford, the Chinese SUV segment grew by 49 percent in 2013, and the Blue Oval held a 4.5 percent market share. At the 2014 Beijing Motor Show, Ford is showing the Everest SUV that, while just a concept for now, will go into production in the near future.
The Everest is a big, brawny seven-seat SUV that mixes solid, chiseled styling and contemporary Ford design cues. Up front there is an angular version of the trapezoidal grille and sharp, wraparound headlights. The beltline rises in the rear to make the back appear higher than the front. The rear seems just as chiseled, with the taillights resting in jagged scallops. There is no doubt that this concept means to look rugged, and ready for rough roads - the whole thing looks pretty great.
The truck was penned by Ford's Asia Pacific design and engineering team in Australia, and it was first shown in Sydney last year. Ford's JMC joint venture will build the truck for the Chinese market, and it will be sold at Ford dealers there. The Blue Oval isn't hinting at what powers the production version yet, but it reportedly shares some components with the foreign-market Ranger.
