1977 Ranchero GT

Low RESERVE
We've been looking for a clean Ranchero from this era for a few yrs now
and this is the best we could find that wasnt outrageous in price. This car/truck
whats you like to call is, has a DSO Of Phx , originally sold here in AZ and has
never left. Its about the most rust free Ranchero GT out there for sale
especially with a super low reserve on the market.
GREAT original color combo Silver / with GT stripe in black (now gone) with a
black and grey interior from the factory. I see NO signs of bondo under the paint
anywhere leading me to think this paint could be original. It does has some dents
but nothing that couldnt be fixed in a few days.
Shows on the odometer which could be original. The car was a daily driver up till
about 2006 which it was then parked and it sat for the last 10 yrs in a Az backyard.
There the paint just got more baked and interior got sun damaged. Even worse a
family of pack rats started living inside the car for sometime. They didnt do any
noticeable damage, but they did leave the interior carpet stained and it smells.
FIRST THING THIS CAR NEEDS IS GUT THE INTERIOR, CLEAN THE FLOORS AND AT VERY
LEAST NEW CARPET, PADDING AND ID RECOVER THE FRONT BENCH SEAT TOO.
THAT AND A NEW HEADLINER and the interior could be decent.
The car starts, runs and drives but doesnt seem to want to idle like it should.
Not sure if it needs a carb rebuild, tune up or maybe some vacuum lines fixed.
Driving it around under throttle it feels okay and the brakes feel normal too.

DRIVETRAIN: original 302 V8 w/ auto trans sound good with no
weird knocks and no smoking. Trans shifts like it should too.
9" in the rear looks fine too. Pop the hood and it looks just about
like it did in 1977, nice stock, original and un molested other then
the nice polished finned aluminum Ford Racing valve covers.
AC all intact and may be functional with a little work. The 5.0
engine is great for power and gas mileage too.

INTERIOR: sat in the Az sun and heat for many yrs and as mentioned
earlier, bad smell from pack rats, it Looks nicer then it really is
in person. But the work it needs could be done in a weekend. The
GT pkg came with a factory Tach and gauge pkg. Ive seen these cars
done with some buckets and custom made center consoles and
they look awesome. Or just keep it OE and you cant go wrong.
Windows work fine , original radio I think works, but the speaker
is toast. Grant sw looks okay in the car, and the glove box door
latch not working. Inside the bed and youd be impressed by how
clean it is under the shell for a truck this old. The shell is fiberglass
and aftermarket and just okay, functional but Ive seen nicer units.
WIndows work well and all the glass looks good.
See pics for better idea of what to expect.

EXTERIOR: dull silver paint which I think is original, the GT stripe
gone, dents on RF fender, dr door and one by rr taillight, rest of the
body is very dent free and totally rust FREE !! The bumpers are in
very nice shape and the chrome on them great, as is most of stainless
side trim around the doors etc. Factory sport mirrors correct, and
in my opinion this body style is the sharpest designs to come out of
Detroit in the 70s. Its a classic design yet to be copied.

SUSPENSION:  this area seems pretty much stock and original still with
it looks like shocks have been replaced over the yrs, but not sure
what all other bushings and stuff has been replaced. No weird clunks
or noises which is always a good sign. Factory front disc brakes up
front of course. The car will come on the factory 14x7 Magnums
but the tires are old and need replacing soon.

Youll see a few pics of the car with some 19" Wheels on it. These
Rims are NEW staggered 19" Zora alloys with some used tires
mounted on them. This rim & tire pkg is OPTIONAL to the winner
if they choose for an extra $750. (the rims alone which again are
new, cost almost $800 by themselves) But if you are possibly going
for a Resto Mod look, they look amazing and fit very well on
the car.

This car is 95% rust free Arizona car / Its not a restored car but its more like a
Survivor or sorts and would be a great car to restore and keep as a daily drve

This is still a Muscle car that would be great to restore seeing that its
survived this long thanks to the AZ desert.

These cars rarely even come up for sale anymore

Check out ALL the pics below ----->

it may take a full minute for them all to load if you have a
slow connection, so be patient AND looks for the extra schroll
bar on the right side.
Az gets maybe 12" a yr of rain and Az very dry climate.
more info AFTER the pics etc. There are 100 large pics.

STUDY: Ford owns brand loyalty in 2009; Scorned Saturn, Pontiac buyers will look outside of GM

Fri, 16 Oct 2009

Ford buyers appear to love their cars more than customers of any other automotive brand, returning back to the American automaker when it comes time to purchase their next vehicle. According to a study by Experian Automotive, six of the top 10 vehicles for customer brand loyalty wear badges from the Blue Oval. That includes the Ford Fusion (62.4 percent), Ford Edge (57.9 percent), Ford Five Hundred/Taurus (56 percent), Ford Freestyle (51.9 percent), Ford Escape (49.4 percent) and the Ford Focus (47.57 percent).
Other vehicles making up the top 10 include the Toyota Prius (52 percent), Chevy Impala (51.7 percent), Toyota Camry (47.8 percent) and Toyota Corolla (47.56 percent). This brings up an interesting question: With the closing of automotive brands like Saturn and Pontiac, where are those buyers to turn for their next automotive purchase?
Apparently, not back to General Motors. According to Experian, Pontiac owners are most likely to look to the Ford lineup for their next car or truck and Saturn shoppers will switch to Toyota or Honda - not particularly surprising given that Saturn was meant to compete with import brands. Experian predicts that GM's overall market share will fall from 20 percent to about 17.5 percent, with most of the slack being picked up by Ford, Honda and Toyota.

Road & Track names its 2013 Performance Car of the Year

Thu, 14 Nov 2013

Road & Track recently staged its first annual Performance Car of the Year test, pitting 13 new and updated performance cars against each other on track, then graduating the top six to a road test before picking a winner. Additionally, the magazine staff picked the best automobiles of the year in eight categories.
But first, let's cover the PCotY segment. Here's the list of cars brought to the comparison test: Audi R8 V10 Plus; BMW 435i; BMW M6 Competition Package; Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Z51; Ferrari F12 Berlinetta; Ford Fiesta ST; Jaguar F-Type V8 S; Jaguar XFR-S; Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG S-Model Wagon; Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series; Mini John Cooper Works GP; Nissan GT-R Track Edition; and Porsche Cayman S.
To find out the results of the comparison, head over to Road & Track's website or check the press release below, where you'll also find the magazine's top-rated vehicles in eight categories. Want more? Head over to the 2013 PCotY hub. But before you do that, take a stab at guessing the winner of PCotY (we'll give you one hint: it isn't a Porsche).

Michigan ponders its automotive future in the connected age

Wed, May 31 2017

Few people take cars more seriously than Michiganders. I've been to the home of BMW in Germany. I've been to Kia's HQ in Korea. I've seen Honda's goods in Japan. No one, from the factory worker to the executive in her pinstriped suit, is more obsessed with cars than Michigan Inc. That's why it was interesting this week to see the state have a moment of introspection four hours north of the Motor City on a scenic island called Mackinac. Ironically, cars are not allowed here. Normally a tourist trap, it played placed host to the Mackinac Public Policy conference this week. While politics took center stage ( I may be the only person here not considering a run for governor) the evolution of the industry through connectivity and data was a theme of the conference. If you're reading this in New York, Silicon Valley, or one of the automotive heartlands listed above, you do care about this. If Michigan rethinks its approach to the car business – and makes moves to become more competitive – that affects you the consumer and enthusiast. It's jobs. It's technology, and it's a competition to see who's going to be the leader. More than a century after Henry Ford made mass production a thing, more than 70 years after Detroit's Arsenal of Democracy helped win World War II, and nearly a decade after the historic bankruptcies of General Motors and Chrysler, the car business is on solid footing again and looking to the future. What's next? Michigan is still home to thousands of auto workers, tech centers (including gleaming facilities built by Toyota and Hyundai), and the headquarters of the three American carmakers. Just because the economy is good doesn't mean it's a given connected cars and mobility advancements are going to come from this state. A lot of it's not. Tesla, Uber, Lyft, Faraday Future, and other transportation mediums have spouted up other places. Michigan leaders and Detroit's carmakers understand this reality. Reflecting on the past means admitting the future is not a given, a key undertone this week in Mackinac. It's about using existing resources, like skilled labor, to move forward. "We do have the number of technicians and technical expertise here in this state," says Stephen Polk," conference chair and former CEO of auto data firm R.L. Polk & Co. To that end, Ford is placing increased emphasis on a division called Smart Mobility, which is an in-house unit focusing on autonomy, connectivity, and forward-looking ideas.
