1937 Ford 1/2 Ton Pick Up Truck on 2040-cars
Jacksonville, Florida, United States
|
This is a mild custom original. Has a 50's Mercury flathead V8 with tri-power. Converted to 12 Volts. Also, has a 1997 S-10 five speed manual transmission which seems to be a perfect fit & easy shifting (& has a new clutch recently). Most else is original & well taken care of by long time owner. New tires have just been put on, with 16's, but bigger size in the back (spare is also new). New electric fuel pump, but a new original type mechanical comes with it also. It has sort of a VW horn (operated via foot button to left of clutch pedalL, but comes with a new ahooga horn. Starts easy & runs smooth. New mufflers make it sound mild hum/roar. Gauges work except for the gas gauge which needs to be calibrated to the new Ford sending unit ( I have the gentleman's name to get this done; otherwise just keep the new poly tank filled). The lights were working but the guy I bought it from said a new switch was needed & one is supplied with purchase. I may tinker to figure it out. The fog lights work on a seperate switch. There is a lighter socket plug in for a supplied handheld fan/heater (maybe defrost back-up). It probably could be mounted for more convenience. Truck is a hoot to drive & scoots for an old school HP. Comes with 7 period hubcaps & 6 beauty rings. Or, you can leave them off (see the driver side picture with all OFF; passenger side all hubcaps & beauty rings on for preferred look comparison; I prefer the hubcap & beauty ring look). Two extra rims & I think two tires. Needed items eventually: minimal rust at driver door back corner & rain catcher/gutter. Couple small bubbles on passenger door & less issue @ rain gutter. The new light installed, as mentioned. All the glass is excellent/new, but the driver's door roll-up glass has a crack. It rolls up/down smoothly & is not going to fall out. Passenger door window winds up/down smooth also. The bed wood looks to be original or replaced @ older restore. It is very solid antique wood/hold down strips. The truck underside/frame is excellent with no rust. The hood sections were just sat on for pictures & not latched tight (usually left off for cool engine seeing). The crank out windshield & air intake cowl port both work easily.
On Feb-05-14 at 12:14:24 PST, seller added the following information: As can be seen, every exhaust part is new. The doors close tight, evenly & snug with no drop in hinges or latches. On Feb-05-14 at 13:15:27 PST, seller added the following information: I meant to put in a picture of the bed wood, but do to limited picture loading on this format, I could not. I can send more pictures to any email or maybe thru ebay. The wood is aged but not rotting or need replacement. On Feb-05-14 at 15:31:31 PST, seller added the following information: Has two gas caps, one regular, one locking (whichever owner prefers). Has temperature gauge radiator cap. The added tach works. Also, a period dash glove box clock (would have to install; came on deluxe model?); could use new glass; I have the address of gentleman that has one & will install the new glass, free or inexpensively). |

Mark LaNeve named head of Ford US sales and marketing
Thu, Jan 8 2015Ford continues to rework the positions of its top marketing executives as Jim Farley moves to take over the Blue Oval in Europe and Stephen Odell becomes head of global sales. The latest shift brings Mark LaNeve in as the new vice president of US marketing, sales, service and dealer relations, effective February 1. LaNeve replaces John Felice, who is retiring. Felice was with the automaker for the last 30 years and held his most recent job since November of 2013. In addition to coordinating marketing and sales, LaNeve's other duty is to build "innovative new digital communications and transforming the retail experience for customers," according to the automaker's press release announcing the change. He reports to both Odell and Joe Hinrichs, Ford's boss of the Americas. LaNeve has a long history in the auto industry. He spent a portion of his early career with Cadillac but eventually was hired as the CEO of Volvo Cars North America. He also headed up US marketing at General Motors for several years in the 2000s. Since 2012, LaNeve has been the chief operating officer at Global Ford Team, which is responsible for the company's worldwide advertising. There's an interesting challenge ahead of LaNeve in leading the Blue Oval's US marketing and sales in 2015. Ford was the bestselling auto brand here in 2014 but overall sales fell about 1.1 percent. According to Automotive News, the company's market share dropped to 14.9 percent, a one-percent reduction and the lowest level since 2008. Read below for the automaker's official announcement of LaNeve's new job. JOHN FELICE RETIRING AFTER 30 YEARS; FORD NAMES MARK LANEVE TO LEAD U.S. MARKETING, SALES AND SERVICE TEAM John Felice is retiring as vice president, U.S. Marketing, Sales and Service, after 30 years of service Mark LaNeve, named vice president, U.S. Marketing, Sales and Service and elected a Ford Motor Company officer; former chief operating officer at Global Team Ford brings nearly three decades of automotive marketing and sales experience to Ford Ford Motor Company [NYSE: F] announced today changes in its senior leadership team as it continues to deliver and accelerate the company's One Ford plan while driving for product excellence and innovation. Ford rolls out Vignale Mondeo for upscale European buyers
Tue, Apr 21 2015North American buyers looking for a luxury automobile from Dearborn know to turn to Lincoln, but overseas, the Ford brand itself appeals to upscale customers with its own products. The Blue Oval automaker unveiled a premium take on the Taurus for the Chinese market at the Shanghai Motor Show this weekend, and in Europe it's rolling out the Vignale sub-brand with the model you see here. Previewed in concept form a year and a half ago at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the Vignale line revives the name of a storied Italian coachbuilder that Ford acquired (together with Ghia) back in 1973. Now ready for production, the first Vignale model upgrades on the Mondeo (which we know as the Fusion) with a number of high-end features. The cabin space is altogether more luxurious, featuring high-end, laser-cut leather trim with hexagonal quilting and "tuxedo" stitching. The multi-contour front seats have a massage function, and occupants are better isolated from the road via upgraded sound insulation and active noise cancellation. The Ford Vignale Mondeo benefits from all the latest safety-convenience and infotainment technologies, including an optional Sony digital audio system with twelve speakers. The exterior is made to look more upscale as well, with unique metallic paint finishes, special chrome trim, 18-inch alloys and the requisite special badging to set it apart from ordinary Mondeos. Buyers will be able to choose between sedan or wagon body styles, front- or all-wheel drive and from a number of engine options. There's a 2.0-liter EcoBoost four with 237 horsepower, a 2.0-liter turbodiesel available with 177 or 207 hp, and a gasoline-electric hybrid system with 184 hp. Each vehicle is hand-finished and individually inspected at the Vignale Centre at Ford's plant in Valencia, Spain, and will be offered through select dealerships outfitted with premium Vignale Lounges. Customers will also benefit from access to a dedicated "relationship manager," customer assistance operators on call 24 hours a day and a companion app, but of course none of these features come cheap: At around GBP30k in the UK, the price of a Vignale Mondeo comes close to that of an Audi A6 or Jaguar XF, and it'll be up to individual buyers to decide whether the spruced-up Fusion is worth the premium. Look for a Vignale version of the S-Max to follow.
Ford to hack $4k off price of Focus EV amid slow sales
Wed, 10 Jul 2013Between slow sales and a hefty price drop for its nearest rival, the Ford Focus Electric may be looking at a pretty substantial price cut. The Detroit News is reporting that Ford will drop the price of the all-electric by about $4,000 to $35,200 to be more competitive with the Nissan Leaf, which received a big price cut for 2013 down to $28,800.
Ford has already admitted to having low expectations for the car's sales and massive rebates were reported earlier in the year, but there is still no official word from Ford on this matter. The company's consumer site still lists the 2014 model's starting price as $39,200. In addition to the Leaf, the Focus Electric will also have to deal with the lower prices of smaller EVs including the Honda Fit EV, Fiat 500e and the Chevrolet Spark EV.
