Hello and thanks for checking out this nice Mustang.

This car is a recent acquisition for me and I found a fastback that I want more so this one has to go.  This is a very nice original solid car with very little signs of any rust. I will do my best to point out any flaws I have found. I realize it is a worry to buy a car sight unseen online, so I am free to answer any and all questions about the car. I highly recommend coming to look at the car or have someone local look at it but I know that is not always possible so you can be assured that I will provide you all the information you need to make a good decision.

I have a very reasonable reserve and I am open to any offers that are reasonable, just look at something equivalent in shape. I have seen several that are not as nice for more. If it goes the distance I may remove the reserve if it meets what I have in it.

I have owned several Mustangs and I would never buy a rust bucket, or a dog. Every car I buy I ask myself “would I keep it” that is why I could not pass up this one. It is a very solid original car. I will list the items I know about the car along with the allowed pictures. I will have a Photobucket that has over 100 pics. Email me for the link, since eBays crappy system will not let us post a link here.

Please be serious about owning a Mustang and ask questions and call me and we can make this a good experience for all.

Engine:

It has a very clean excellent running 6 cylinder 200cid. I am sure that is original to the car, though I am not sure but I can check the numbers if that matters to you. I looks as if the starter is newer as well as the carburetor. It starts up nicely and runs smooth with no weird noises or smoke. I was told that it was rebuilt but I am not sure and do not have documentation. No major oil leaks or water leaks and it does not overheat at all. It has some chrome dress up items on the engine and it looks great. I have all the original parts in the trunk.

Transmission:

It has an automatic transmission that shifts well and the shifter is factory tight. I will make sure that the transmission gets a service before I sell it. Drive shaft is tight and makes no weird noises at all.

Running Gear:

You can decode the vin if you like, but it has 2.83:1 axle ratio. It works great! No noise or leaks. It has manual steering and it works well and the car drives great down the road. The tires are at least 90% or better and they are in good shape. They were just dirty and I cleaned up the whitewalls. It has the factory hubcaps that are in good shape.

Brakes:

The car has 4 drum brakes with newer parts. I will have them inspected and you will be comfortable knowing that they will work well. It has power brakes with a new booster and master cyl.

Interior:

The interior is in excellent shape. All original, code D4 Parchment/Emberglo (maroon). The carpet is very nice, the headliner is perfect as is the rest of the interior. The seats are all original and are in good condition. It has some nice sheepskin covers that cover the front seats and I looked under the covers and the condition is good, there is a couple of small flaws. The dash is nice, but has the wave on the passenger side but I would leave it alone. All the gauges seem to work all the windows work well and it has a remote driver’s mirror. The passenger lock does not work with the key, not sure why. The steering wheel has a couple of cracks in it but it is the original. Lights all work as do the signals. Door panels are good as is the glass. No cracks, there may be a few scratches but you have to be looking for them.

Exterior:

This car has a near perfect solid exterior! The factory color is Emberglo Metallic code V. It seems to have one re-paint of a maroon color ( I was told it was a Mustang color) and it is pretty nice. (Driver quality) Looks excellent from 10 feet or so. It is not without flaws, but I am not asking 10k for the car. The doors work well and open and close nicely no door sag. Fit Form and Function work well with this car.

RUST:

I looked it over very well for rust, since this should be a major concern when buying a Mustang. All the sheet metal is original with the factory coding. No patch panels or quarter patches. I did not try to cover up any patina with paint at all. I wanted you to see the originality. The only rust I found was a very small spot, just a start in the passenger floor pan, and some small bubbles in the lower front corner of the door. The rest of the car and major components are very solid, I do not see them this solid very often! See the pictures for yourself! The car has not had any visible wrecks. Just look at the front core support and rear deck panel! I AM VERY CONFIDENT ABOUT THE SOLIDNESS OF THIS CAR. ALMOST RUST FREE!

I am not looking to hide anything I want  you to appreciate the quality of this car's originality!

Over all this is a very nice original SOLID Mustang. It has obviously been well taken care of and not restored or hacked up. Drive as is with little normal Mustang repairs or have a perfect foundation to take it to the next level show car.

Please call me if you have any questions at all.

Full-size trucks are the best and worst vehicles in America

Thu, Apr 28 2022

You don’t need me to tell you that Americans love pickup trucks. And the bigger the truck, the more likely it seems to be seen as an object of desire. Monthly and yearly sales charts are something of a broken record; track one is the Ford F-Series, followed by the Chevy Silverado, RamÂ’s line of haulers, and somewhere not far down the line, the GMC Sierra. The big Japanese players fall in place a bit further below — not that thereÂ’s anything wrong with a hundred thousand Toyota Tundra sales — and one-size-smaller trucks like the Toyota Tacoma, Ford Ranger and Chevy Colorado have proven awfully popular, too. Along with their sales numbers, the average cost of new trucks has similarly been on the rise. Now, I donÂ’t pretend to have the right to tell people what they should or shouldnÂ’t buy with their own money. But I just canÂ’t wrap my head around why a growing number of Americans are choosing to spend huge sums of money on super luxurious pickup trucks. Let me first say I do understand the appeal. People like nice things, after all. I know I do. I myself am willing to spend way more than the average American on all sorts of discretionary things, from wine and liquor to cameras and lenses. IÂ’ve even spent my own money on vehicles that I donÂ’t need but want anyway. A certain vintage VW camper van certainly qualifies. I also currently own a big, inefficient SUV with a 454-cubic-inch big block V8. So if your answer to the question IÂ’m posing here is that youÂ’re willing to pay the better part of a hundred grand on a chromed-out and leather-lined pickup simply because you want to, then by all means — not that you need my permission — go buy one. The part I donÂ’t understand is this: Why wouldn't you, as a rational person, rather split your garage in half? On one side would sit a nice car that is quiet, rides and handles equally well and gets above average fuel mileage. Maybe it has a few hundred gasoline-fueled horsepower, or heck, maybe itÂ’s electric. On the other side (or even outside) is parked a decent pickup truck. One that can tow 10,000 pounds, haul something near a ton in the bed, and has all the goodies most Americans want in their cars, like cruise control, power windows and locks, keyless entry, and a decent infotainment screen.

Bodie Stroud seriously updates the 1956 Ford F-100 into the BSI X-100

Tue, Mar 24 2015

If you thought pickups could use a lot more love in the resto-mod world, then Bodie Stroud – he of "The Real Thing" Mustang – has something for you: the BSI X-100. His team starts with the body of a 1956 Ford F-100, but the sheetmetal is about all the nostalgia you're going to get; the body, tweaked with a chopped hood and a larger rear window on the cab, sits on a custom steel ladder-frame chassis. Out back is a one-piece, tubbed bed, and behind that are taillights from a 1948 (gasp!) Chevrolet. Under that hood is either a 412-horsepower, 5.0-liter Ford Racing Coyote crate engine, or a supercharged, 6.0-liter, 630-hp Ford Racing Aluminator motor, shifting through a Ford 4R70W four-speed automatic. Inside, the dash is reworked to fit gauges from a Ford F-150 King Ranch Edition, and the bench is swapped out for buckets from a Mustang GT. The independent front and four-link rear suspension are adjustable, helping to make room for staggered wheels - 19 inches in front, 20 inches in back, and larger can be accommodated. Six-piston Wilwood brakes handle the stopping. There's a lot of fabrication and hand-work involved, and it doesn't come cheap: BSI says the turnkey package starts at $180,000. If you've got it, this is an exceptional way to flaunt it. The press release below has all the details. THE BSI 1956 X-100: TIMELESS LINES, MODERN TECH New pickup from Bodie Stroud Industries melds the iconic style of the 1956 F-100 with a cutting-edge chassis and drivetrain to create a hand-built, all-new truck with the performance and reliability of a modern sports car. Sun Valley, Calif. (March, 2015) – In an era when anyone can walk into a dealership with good credit and a yearning to go fast and drive out in a 500+ horsepower sports car, owning and driving something truly unique has become a challenge. With that in mind, the craftsmen at Los Angeles-based Bodie Stroud Industries (BSI) have come up with something truly special – a brand new line of hand-built, turn-key pickups with the looks and sheet metal of an American icon, subtly massaged and fitted to a modern chassis and powered by the latest engine, transmission and electronics from Detroit. The result is the world's first all-new, turn-key 1956 Pickup: the BSI X-100. "When most people think about classic trucks, what comes to mind is usually the 1956 F-100, it's one of the most timeless designs of all time," says BSI founder Bodie Stroud.

Shelby GT500 and Roush Stage 3 go head to head at the drag strip

Wed, 07 Aug 2013

The Ford Mustang is a brilliantly affordable source of horsepower, with a base 300-plus-horsepower version available for well under $30,000. Jumping up to about $35,000 will get you a solid 420 horsepower from a high-revving V8, while those with some extra disposable income can get a pair of 600-plus-horsepower monsters. Both the Roush Stage 3 with its Phase 3 package and Ford's factory Shelby GT500 even crest the 650-horsepower mark, with 675 and 662 ponies, respectively.
Naturally, someone needed to find out which of these hi-po Mustangs was the quickest. And while this video is quite obviously a dealership commercial, at least there's some solid drag racing between two of the most powerful performance machines available for under $100,000.
With two NHRA drag racers at the wheel, the Stage 3 and GT500 go head to head for three races. Scroll down below to see the results in the full video.
