Up for sale is a 2003 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra with 22,151 miles. I bought the car in 2011 and it has been stored in a climate controlled garage since then. The car has never seen salt or snow. I spent an enormous amount of time cleaning the entire car. There is absolutely no rust on the car or on the undercarriage. The interior looks very close to brand new. The rear and passenger seats do not look like they have ever been sat in. The drivers seat has no rips or tears. The only sign of wear on the drivers seat are some minor wrinkles on the leather. The body is immaculate. Other than a handful of stone chips, the body is as nice as you can get especially for a 13 year old car. Both under the hood and undercarriage are super clean. Everything works as it should. Every single fluid and filter has been changed on the car. I used GM Synchromesh tranny fluid, Royal Purple diff fluid, the proper yellow coolant the owners manual calls for, supercharger oil, and full synthetic motor oil. The tires have roughly 4,000 miles on them, and the brakes are roughly 60% so they have plenty of life left. When I purchased the car, it was bone stock. I did do some modifications to the car. Here is the list:-Steeda 2.81 upper pulley-Steeda 100mm idler pulley-JLT Ram Air intake-Short throw shifter-Bassani Exhaust-IRS brace-Sumitomo tires 275x40x17 all 4-Afco dual pass heat exchanger-Tuned with an SCT Bama tuner (included)-Modded hood vents for better air flow-Shorty antenna-180 degree thermostat-NGK spark plugs-Classic Design Concepts light bar (not installed but included in the auction)-Front sway bar (not installed but included in the auction) I never had the car dyno tested, but based on the mods done, the car has roughly 440-450 RWHP and about the same RWTQ. All mods were done right and the car runs and drives excellent. The supercharger screams! I do have the convertible boot cover. I am including 2 extra 275x40x17 Cobra wheels with the original Good Year Eagle F1 tires on them. The wheels are in excellent condition. I am also including the Cobra car cover. Everything that I took a picture of is included. I have the stock pulley cover, heat exchanger and intake. The car was in an accident a long time ago. The person that I bought the car from owned a small dealership and he had his body guys do all of the repairs using OEM parts. This was his personal car for roughly 7 years. I kept his business card with a picture of my Cobra on the front of it so everything I say can be verified by him. I normally shy away from cars with a salvage title, but I made an exception for this car because it is gorgeous in and out. I am more than happy to make arrangements for anyone who wants to check out the car before Purchasing it. This car will not disappoint. The only reason why I am selling it is I recently moved and I do not have the room any more, so the car has to go. I never had a problem or issue with the car. It has been 100% reliable for the past 5 years. If you have any questions, Im happy to answer them to the best of my ability. Thank you.

NHTSA upgrades Ford floor mat unintended acceleration probe

Mon, 17 Dec 2012

According to a Bloomberg report, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has upgraded an investigation into complaints of unintended acceleration lodged against Ford vehicles. The investigation began in June of 2010 when just three complaints had been received and it only concerned the Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan, but this was at a time when the phrase "unintended acceleration" made grown men go pale. With 49 additional complaints received since then, the investigation has been reclassified as an engineering analysis - the last phase before a recall - and it has been expanded to include the Lincoln MKZ, making for a total of "around 480,000" units affected between the three sedans from the 2008 to 2010 model years.
The ostensible cause is that floor mats are trapping the accelerator pedal, but according to a Ford statement at the time, the entrapment is due to owners placing the optional all-weather floor mats, or aftermarket floor mats, on top of the car's standard floor mats. NHTSA has backed up that assessment, pinning the blame on "unsecured or double stacked floor mats."
On the face of it, it would appear that NHTSA has upgraded the status not because of Ford's error, but owner error, and Ford has stated publicly that it is "disappointed" in NHTSA's move. On top of NHTSA still being skittish after that other unintended acceleration debacle, it could be seen to be taking its time investigating all of the variables: it's reported that Ford changed its accelerator pedal design in 2010, a "heel blocker" in the floorpan has been considered a potential culprit in how the floor mats could be trapping the pedal, some drivers have said the floor mats weren't anywhere near the pedal, and according to a report in the LA Times, in "a letter sent by Ford to NHTSA in August 2010, the automaker said it found three injuries and one fatality that 'may have resulted from the alleged defect.'"

Enterprise customer billed $47k for Mustang stolen from rental lot

Sun, 05 Jan 2014

A weekend rental of a Ford Mustang GT Convertible sounds like a nice, relaxing way to burn some gas, but one Nova Scotia woman's two-day rental is turning into a months-long headache. In early October, Kristen Cockerill picked up the Mustang from Enterprise Rent-A-Car, and she returned it the following day as stipulated by the rental contract. Unfortunately, she dropped the car off on a Sunday - a day on which the particular Enterprise office is closed - and the car ended up being stolen overnight.
Now, two months later, CBC reports that Cockerill received a bill from Enterprise for the full replacement of the car totaling $47,271 (a base 2014 Mustang GT Convertible currently costs $40,349 in Canada). As it turns out, the fine print in the contract says that the renter is responsible for cars dropped off after hours until it can be inspected the next business day - this is also reflected on the key drop seen in the news report video, which states "vehicles returned after hours are the responsibility of the renter until inspected on the next business day."
It's not clear how much, if any, of that amount Cockerhill will be responsible for once her insurance company gets involved, but if the insurance company refuses to pay, Enterprise will bill the amount to the credit card she provided during her rental. While this ordeal is far over for Cockerhill, it's a good reminder for the rest of us to always read the fine print.
